Samsung Captivate :: Corporate And Phone Contacts Sync?
Oct 14, 2010I have my Captivate hooked up to my company's Exchange server via ActiveSync. All is good there.My problem is that the handsfree bluetooth system in my car will only sync contacts with the Captivate's built-in Phone address book (vs the "Corporate" address book in Contacts Display Options).Right now, I have been exporting Corporate Contacts to the SD card and then importing them from the SD card into the Phone contacts. This can be a chore when I have to add/modify/delete a contact in my Corporate contacts as I have to delete all the Phone contacts and then redo the export/import every time there is a change.Is there anyway to sync changes automatically between the Corporate address book and the Phone address book? Am I overlooking something really simple?

Aug 15, 2010So it's my understanding that I'm supposed to be able to sync with Facebook and it will pull profile pics into my contacts as well as profile links. Is this correct? If so, I can't get it to work. I had installed the FB app and had the issue with it creating multiple profile links in contacts that would all take me to my page. After reading here I deleted it and just synced with SNS settings. Now I have nothing. No FB links, no pics, nothing. How can I get this to work?

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem but was finally able to get a sync to occur by doing some tricky steps or something?

When I press the sync button on the phone, the green arrows spin and it syncs.......or so it says. But when I go to my gmail account on my PC, and go to "Contacts", it says there aren't any.

I am still rocking my Blackberry 8310, and have really enjoyed how seamlessly I have been able to sync my contacts and calendar with my Macbook programs (ical and address book). I am curious if I will enjoy the same simplicity the Captivate, or rather the Android software its running, as I do with my Blackberry.

Aug 1, 2010I'm using the email app that came installed on my AT&T Captivate to check my gmail and Exchange email but I also setup the gmail app in order to sync with my gmail contacts and calendar. I now get my gmail in both apps, is there a way to stop the gmail from retrieving my email without affecting sync with contacts and calendar?
Can I stop the gmail app from running all the time if so how? everytime i check task killer i have both email apps running.

Dec 1, 2010I've had the Captivate for about 2 months now and during that time, I've never once got the contacts to sync up with my Facebook contacts. I've been to AT&T and they've told me that the phone is so new that they don't even know how to fix it.
What it's doing is taking at least two minutes to try and "sync" and them I'm getting a notification telling me that the sync is down at this current time and should be up shortly. I'm thinking two months is a little longer than shortly.

Oct 28, 2010For some reason, while I'm at home, on wifi, everytime I wake my phone up (not sure if it's doing it while it sleeps or not, but battery has gotten worse, so probably) the 3g comes on for about 15 seconds. I see the grey sync arrows come on in the top left. When I pull down the window shade, it pops up a little notification saying something like "phone book contacts are up to date..." or something like that. But it always activates 3g even when I'm on wifi. I even disabled background data and auto-sync and it still did it after I woke it up. Didn't receive my gmail while those were disabled but still tried to sync my phone book with something. Sometimes I can watch it sync the phone book 5 or 6 times in a couple of minute time frame and sometimes I can watch for 10 minutes and it won't sync once...

Aug 11, 2010I have a 2010 F150 with sync and currently i use:ipod connected via USB for music blackberry connected via bluetooth for phone garmin connected via power for nav.I am planning on buying the samsung captivate when rogers releases it and a car dock and what I am wondering is if I put the phone in a car dock and connect only to USB and pair it to blue tooth, will I be able to make calls, play music, use the maps/nav all using sync? Because I notice when i try to play music via bluetooth sync doesnt have full voice control and when i hook up my ipod via usb the ford logo takes over and i cant control the device unless its through sync.So it seems like the phone to do all three is a bit unlikely.

Sep 12, 2010So its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.
How to backup my phone would be great..

Sep 10, 2010I just recently switched from a Window Mobile phone to the Captivate and I am loving it thus far. Aside from the standard gripes about gps i have nothing to complain.
I am however having trouble comprehending how google syncs my contacts. I have my contacts set up exactly how i want them on my google account online i.e. co workers freinds family grouping. I would like my phone to display the contacts in the same fashion, but it seems the google sync is only one way from my phone to my account and not the other way around.
How can i get my contacts to sync from my google account so that they show up as i have them set up online without having to do every individual one on the phone.
