HTC EVO 4G :: Launchers & Scenes
Jul 1, 2010I know with Sense you can have multiple scenes, but when i switch over to a different launcher, i dont see an option for Scenes. Is this possible?

Android :: New Home Launchers
Nov 4, 2010I have Zeam, Launcher Pro +, SLideScreen, SparkBETA & Zune Home launchers. I love Zeam and Launcher Pro +, but they are extremely similar to the stock home. I have no need for multiple screens and love having just one. SlideScreen is awesome but it crashes wayy too much. Zune Home is more of a basic, i like it but got bored with it quite quickly. I'm suuper in love with SparkBETA, it has the most beautiful UI IMO but because its in beta, its very laggy.So do you guys know of any interesting home launchers I have not stumbled upon yet? Any suggestions?

Jun 17, 2010I have long had my WAP pages built and had my URL launchers built by an outsourced group in India. I now have a requirement to update my .apk files to 2.2 as well as build 6 additional .apk files that are made up of 6 completely different URL launchers to other WAP sites. I have successfully set up my Java and SDK environment My questions are: What is the best recommendation the group can suggest as a starting point? How do I open the .apk file in my eclipse environment to make the changes necessary? The Android Market says the following when I attempt to upload my .apk file: [quote] Market does not accept apks signed with the debug certificate. Create a new certificate that is valid for at least 50 years. Market requires that the certificate used to sign the apk be valid until at least October 22, 2033. Create a new certificate. Aug 6, 2010First off, let me say that I love my EVO BUT as an ex-Hero owner, I am pretty much done with Sense. I am simply tired of the colors and layout. Although, HTC has figured out how to make a mighty fine bookmarks and calendar widget.I have tried LauncherPro and ADW but as most EVO users, battery life is a constant worry.Can anyone spell out how launchers and Android work battery wise? I have read that Sense is never really replaced so there would be an additional drain using launchers right? No offense but please abstain from any root related suggestions like 'just root it bro'

May 28, 2010How can I set my default launcher to LauncherPro or froyo, I want to be able to switch between the two and set one of them as the default but be able to change it back, the only app in market atm is homeswitcher but it does not support froyo atm, and from the looks of it, the developer says he cant do it cause of the new api's in froyo.

Sep 5, 2010I have both ADW Launcher and LauncherPro installed and had been using them fine before the FRG22D update. However, now when I press the "Home" button, only the default launcher takes over. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both but nothing changed. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I might be able to get it so that I can switch launchers again?

May 15, 2010I have an HTC Hero and I just started using Helix Launcher 1. I was interested if I could add htc widgets to that home screen so i wont be stuck with those crappy default android. Sep 13, 2010I have tried using both launcher pro and ADW launcher, who have a reputation of being light launchers, and no matter how much I mess about with the settings, I always experience the same thing:
1: They are often not fluid when swiping screens, showing a little sign of lag or sluggishness that you do not experience with the Sense UI and which drives me crazy.
2: When unlocking the phones, the first swipe is always followed by a noticeable amount of latency.
This bothers me quite a bit, because I really like these launchers and I know of no other way to get the (from my POV) main advantage behind them (the dock).Any advice? I have tried messing about with the memory settings etc to no avail.
General :: Multiple Launchers And Widgets
Nov 21, 2011I understand that widgets can use power; especially the ones that update (news, weather, etc.).
What I'm curious about is when you have launchers like Go Launcher and Launcher Pro Plus. If you have them both, what is happening to the widgets that are on the launcher you're not using (including the stock launcher). Are those widgets drawing power to update, even though you aren't seeing them? Should you delete all widgets, except for the launcher you're currently using?

Mar 10, 2013I know there are quite a few alternative Launchers for Android out there, but what I want is to change the UI more then just a bit. I would love to have a "Swipe UI" like the one from the Nokia N9...
I know MIUI but its very Apple like... Any other Costum ROMs (for a Samsung Galaxy Note II) with I could use? Ubuntu has a great UI, but hell yeah, the OS isnt more then just a UI with demo content yet
General :: SBP Shell Widgets In Other Launchers
Feb 8, 2012i am using spb for a long time.but there are many other cool, clean launchers which do not need as much cpu/ram.so i do not need most of the spb thinks. i do not use most of the spb widgets.but i really really love the 3d sms and 3d birthday widget.
It is not possible to get widgets running outside there own launcher.i searched the web for a really long time to find widgets which are looking as cool as this 2 widgets.tell me such widgets so that i can drop spb and use it in an other launcher?

Jul 23, 2010I decided to try Kies again. I set it up and hard set my USB connection on the phone to Samsung Kies. I plugged in my phone and didn't even get the notification from Windows that a USB device was plugged in.I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, this time watching the phone. A very quick message popped up on the phone that said"PC connection available only in idle screen.Close running applications."I checked TasKiller and there wasn't anything running.I scratched my head for a minute and then on a hunch used Home Switcher to change my default and running home screen to TouchWiz. I plugged/unplugged my phone and it worked! It said "MTP application", gave the USB symbol and connected.I then switched my home screen/Launcher to LauncherPro and tried it. It failed like ADW did with the same error! I'm not sure what gives there, but it's something you may want to investigate if you're having trouble using an MTP application like Samsung Kies.

Sep 15, 2013I have a Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 (build JWR66Y), with the stock ROM. I recently started using other launchers, at first Nova. I did notice, however, random reboots ever since. I thought it might be some new apps, but even uinstalling them didn't solve the problem. Then I switched to Action Launcher, and after a few hours of use, the reboots started all over again.
Now I'm running only the original launcher, no troubles at all. How to solve this issue with third party launchers?
