I thought I'd start a thread discussing the different launchers people use on their Desire's.I personally think that HTC Sense's 'leap' view and HTC widgets are irreplaceable. However, if I ever feel like a change, I'd most likely give ADW a go.What launcher do you use on your Desire?

I have tried using both launcher pro and ADW launcher, who have a reputation of being light launchers, and no matter how much I mess about with the settings, I always experience the same thing:
1: They are often not fluid when swiping screens, showing a little sign of lag or sluggishness that you do not experience with the Sense UI and which drives me crazy.
2: When unlocking the phones, the first swipe is always followed by a noticeable amount of latency.
This bothers me quite a bit, because I really like these launchers and I know of no other way to get the (from my POV) main advantage behind them (the dock).Any advice? I have tried messing about with the memory settings etc to no avail.
I know there are quite a few alternative Launchers for Android out there, but what I want is to change the UI more then just a bit. I would love to have a "Swipe UI" like the one from the Nokia N9...
I know MIUI but its very Apple like... Any other Costum ROMs (for a Samsung Galaxy Note II) with I could use? Ubuntu has a great UI, but hell yeah, the OS isnt more then just a UI with demo content yet
Is it possible to set more home screens, than only 1 main + 6 others?
Home screen = places where you put widgets/applications, shortcuts...There is one main home screen (with clock, weather and some apps) + 6 additional screens where you also put apps and widgets.
Is it possible to have more of these screens?
I have now got my home screens as I want them but it is so easy to accidentally change them. Is there a way to lock them i.e. keep them as they are, but of course still updating to show the latest data , until I use a certain method to change the way they look.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Zeam, Launcher Pro +, SLideScreen, SparkBETA & Zune Home launchers. I love Zeam and Launcher Pro +, but they are extremely similar to the stock home. I have no need for multiple screens and love having just one. SlideScreen is awesome but it crashes wayy too much. Zune Home is more of a basic, i like it but got bored with it quite quickly. I'm suuper in love with SparkBETA, it has the most beautiful UI IMO but because its in beta, its very laggy.So do you guys know of any interesting home launchers I have not stumbled upon yet? Any suggestions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI probably should have asked this all along time ago, but i have been trying to transfer my icons from HTC Sense to Dxtop, and i have probably never done anything more needlessly wasteful.Somewhere in my system there is home screen data, which if accessible can be copied to other screen systems (I only use three screens, if if that would cause a conflict). Please help if you know if this can be done effectively,

Or maybe an app to do so?
Two things I'd like to be able to do with my incredible.First is reduce the number of homescreens. Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

I was wishing that there is some app that shows all active app and if we click on it, it gets opened. Is there anything like that? Holding down home button only shows recently opened apps. Also, I am not fans of holding down buttons.

As you may know, current Android stock Home doesn't support it, and HTC Sense doesn't provide any API.We propose to create an open source standard for an Home extension code allowing devs to create 3rd party widgets which support scrolling (list view).The principe have been implemented, and succesfully tested in Home++ and Pure messenger widget.Now, after discussing with other Home creators, we'd like to generalize this and include it in other Home applications. Few other Home applications devs are already integrating the Home++ code to evaluate this (FreedHome, Tag Home and HelixLauncher 1).Here is the list of interested parteners: - Helix Launcher - FreedHome - Tag Home - ADW Launcher - LauncherPro beta - GDE.During this first phase we'd like to focus on scrollable widgets but other extensions could be imagined (animations, gestures)If Google wants to use it for the next Android release, we would be very happy, but for now, the goal is to include it in a large number of alternative Home applications.

When I was on the main home screen, the phone switched over to all three of the left home screens on its own (it switched to these home screens one after another). I just want to ask though how other people set up their home screens (I'm seriously lacking imagination) I'd like to know of what widgets & apps are must hav's!Also, I have dedicated my far left screen as a 'car' screen which i've got a music widget on and google navigation icon... View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot see any of my screens. I just see a black screen. The screen has no background but it is black but lit up or active [not black like when it is off though]. No response to hitting any of the 4 buttons[home,menu,return, search]. I only get a response when I hold down the home key. A message pops up saying 'Recent Apps' and 'No recent apps'. I'm wondering if it is trying to respond but bogged down with an app.
This all started after I installed a Koi screen saver. The screen saver works and lets me close the screen saver but goes to a blank screen. Don't see anything. Sound rocker responds, power button works, I even heard mail arriving. Feel pretty dumb.
How do i remove some of the home screens? there are like 7 right now, and i would like to have just 3. how to do this? I use CM9 with LG UI 3.0.
