Android :: New Home Launchers

I have Zeam, Launcher Pro +, SLideScreen, SparkBETA & Zune Home launchers. I love Zeam and Launcher Pro +, but they are extremely similar to the stock home. I have no need for multiple screens and love having just one. SlideScreen is awesome but it crashes wayy too much. Zune Home is more of a basic, i like it but got bored with it quite quickly. I'm suuper in love with SparkBETA, it has the most beautiful UI IMO but because its in beta, its very laggy.So do you guys know of any interesting home launchers I have not stumbled upon yet? Any suggestions?

I thought I'd start a thread discussing the different launchers people use on their Desire's.I personally think that HTC Sense's 'leap' view and HTC widgets are irreplaceable. However, if I ever feel like a change, I'd most likely give ADW a go.What launcher do you use on your Desire?

I probably should have asked this all along time ago, but i have been trying to transfer my icons from HTC Sense to Dxtop, and i have probably never done anything more needlessly wasteful.Somewhere in my system there is home screen data, which if accessible can be copied to other screen systems (I only use three screens, if if that would cause a conflict). Please help if you know if this can be done effectively,

I have long had my WAP pages built and had my URL launchers built by an outsourced group in India. I now have a requirement to update my .apk files to 2.2 as well as build 6 additional .apk files that are made up of 6 completely different URL launchers to other WAP sites. I have successfully set up my Java and SDK environment My questions are: What is the best recommendation the group can suggest as a starting point? How do I open the .apk file in my eclipse environment to make the changes necessary? The Android Market says the following when I attempt to upload my .apk file: [quote] Market does not accept apks signed with the debug certificate. Create a new certificate that is valid for at least 50 years. Market requires that the certificate used to sign the apk be valid until at least October 22, 2033. Create a new certificate. Market requires the minSdkVersion to be set to a positive 32-bit integer in AndroidManifest.xml. [/quote]

I have tried using both launcher pro and ADW launcher, who have a reputation of being light launchers, and no matter how much I mess about with the settings, I always experience the same thing:
1: They are often not fluid when swiping screens, showing a little sign of lag or sluggishness that you do not experience with the Sense UI and which drives me crazy.
2: When unlocking the phones, the first swipe is always followed by a noticeable amount of latency.
This bothers me quite a bit, because I really like these launchers and I know of no other way to get the (from my POV) main advantage behind them (the dock).Any advice? I have tried messing about with the memory settings etc to no avail.

I know there are quite a few alternative Launchers for Android out there, but what I want is to change the UI more then just a bit. I would love to have a "Swipe UI" like the one from the Nokia N9...
I know MIUI but its very Apple like... Any other Costum ROMs (for a Samsung Galaxy Note II) with I could use? Ubuntu has a great UI, but hell yeah, the OS isnt more then just a UI with demo content yet

I would like to change the icons of my folders to indicate their contents. So, for example, my folder for my ebook reader apps could be an image of a book, my folder of GPS-related programs could be an image of a globe, and so on I am using ADW.Launcher, if that makes a difference Are there any utilities or launchers that let you change the look of individual folders?

I know with Sense you can have multiple scenes, but when i switch over to a different launcher, i dont see an option for Scenes. Is this possible?

First off, let me say that I love my EVO BUT as an ex-Hero owner, I am pretty much done with Sense. I am simply tired of the colors and layout. Although, HTC has figured out how to make a mighty fine bookmarks and calendar widget.I have tried LauncherPro and ADW but as most EVO users, battery life is a constant worry.Can anyone spell out how launchers and Android work battery wise? I have read that Sense is never really replaced so there would be an additional drain using launchers right? No offense but please abstain from any root related suggestions like 'just root it bro'

Is it separate from my regular launcher? Will the changes I make on the new launcher affect my stock one? For instance, if I install Launcher Pro and get it all set up and decide I don't like it, will my phone be exactly as it is now when I uninstall it, home-screen layouts and all?

How can I set my default launcher to LauncherPro or froyo, I want to be able to switch between the two and set one of them as the default but be able to change it back, the only app in market atm is homeswitcher but it does not support froyo atm, and from the looks of it, the developer says he cant do it cause of the new api's in froyo.

I have both ADW Launcher and LauncherPro installed and had been using them fine before the FRG22D update. However, now when I press the "Home" button, only the default launcher takes over. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both but nothing changed. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I might be able to get it so that I can switch launchers again?

Just wondering what launchers and themes you guys use. I have a fetish for the way the Droid X UI looks and was wondering what launcher imitates the Droid X UI best! Currently I have ADW and LauncherPro installed, but haven't found much time to look into quality themes for these launchers so I'm still using TouchWiz.What about you guys? Screens and links to .apk's encouraged!

I have an HTC Hero and I just started using Helix Launcher 1. I was interested if I could add htc widgets to that home screen so i wont be stuck with those crappy default android. I am well aware that you can download new widgets off of the market but none of them are of the same caliber of the htc widgets.

I understand that widgets can use power; especially the ones that update (news, weather, etc.).
What I'm curious about is when you have launchers like Go Launcher and Launcher Pro Plus. If you have them both, what is happening to the widgets that are on the launcher you're not using (including the stock launcher). Are those widgets drawing power to update, even though you aren't seeing them? Should you delete all widgets, except for the launcher you're currently using?

i am using spb for a long time.but there are many other cool, clean launchers which do not need as much cpu/ram.so i do not need most of the spb thinks. i do not use most of the spb widgets.but i really really love the 3d sms and 3d birthday widget.
It is not possible to get widgets running outside there own launcher.i searched the web for a really long time to find widgets which are looking as cool as this 2 widgets.tell me such widgets so that i can drop spb and use it in an other launcher?

I'm running pete's BBv.4 with the Blue Energy theme. I'm new to this whole rooting thing. How do the themes get those custom launchers? Are the themes suppose to automatically do that or do you need another app like Launcher Pro?

I just got a new theme (Punisher one from JsinLegacy, it is awesome)... and he has some killer wallpapers in the themed helix 2 launcher, however I use Launcher Pro and am pretty happy with it, and would like to get rid of helix 2 cause it is just taking up space (I hate having two launchers installed). Is there anyway to get the wallpapers?I tried extracting the .apk with root explorer but I can't seem to find where the little buggers are...

I decided to try Kies again. I set it up and hard set my USB connection on the phone to Samsung Kies. I plugged in my phone and didn't even get the notification from Windows that a USB device was plugged in.I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, this time watching the phone. A very quick message popped up on the phone that said"PC connection available only in idle screen.Close running applications."I checked TasKiller and there wasn't anything running.I scratched my head for a minute and then on a hunch used Home Switcher to change my default and running home screen to TouchWiz. I plugged/unplugged my phone and it worked! It said "MTP application", gave the USB symbol and connected.I then switched my home screen/Launcher to LauncherPro and tried it. It failed like ADW did with the same error! I'm not sure what gives there, but it's something you may want to investigate if you're having trouble using an MTP application like Samsung Kies.

I'm trying to create a custom rom but without building it from the base up.
I want to take a stock rom and add modification ( launchers, themes, remove bloatware, ect) all those things. I just want to know how to add those thing with a stock rom.
Just how to compile all those files together?

I have a Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 (build JWR66Y), with the stock ROM. I recently started using other launchers, at first Nova. I did notice, however, random reboots ever since. I thought it might be some new apps, but even uinstalling them didn't solve the problem. Then I switched to Action Launcher, and after a few hours of use, the reboots started all over again.
Now I'm running only the original launcher, no troubles at all. How to solve this issue with third party launchers?

On the car dock the "Car Home" was default to the home key on the Droid. If I backed out of Car Home to get to an app or something, I would just touch the Home key and it would get me back to car home.

The Home sample in the android sdk doesn't implement the Add item, which bring up the "Add to home screen" popup window, and Notifivcations item in onCreateOptionsMenu and onOptionsItemSelected. How to do that like the default home?

I just created my own "Home" to replace the stock android one or Sense.
All is working fine and I get all I want. My only problem is to replace to long press on home key ( that usually show the last 6 activities you launched) by my own launcher.
I successfully replace the long press on MENU button with this code:

and this part part for the long press:
CODE:.............
But the problem is that I wasn't able to replace the KeyEvent.KEYCODE_MENU with KeyEvent.KEYCODE_HOME
Is that something locked in the code that avoid user to use a Home long press?

Whenever I am using any app and press the home button, the home screen blacks out for a few secs and it takes around 10 sec to get all the icons back and before I can start using my phone again. I am using a non rooted mytouch 3g.
This problem does not happen if I exit an app by pressing the back button. It becomes very annoying at times.

I have been working on a replacement for the stock Car Home app for a bit, and I am completely stumped on how to override the Home button so that my app will be brought back to the foreground whenever the phone is docked. This is the way that Car Home works, so there must be a way. It seems that BroadcastReceivers won't work, because the intent that is broadcast whenever the Home button is pressed will still cause the default homescreen app to launch; I cannot prevent it. I can override the Home button from within my app, but that does me no good since this needs to work when the user is outside my app. Car Home also does not do anything weird like set itself as the default homescreen app while it's running (I checked the logcat to make sure).
I've been really beating my head against the wall on this. Does anyone have any ideas, or can you at least point me in the right direction?

Ive had open home downloaded for over a month and i only used it for a short period of time before switching back to the default homepage setting. Now, because of the new features added to Open Home i want to switch back, and every time i open 'Open Home' it only opens until i hit the home key. Then it does not ask me what i want to use as my default as it used to. I went to settings>applications>manage applications>open home to clear all defaults but it is not highlighted for me to select it. How can i set Open Home to my default again?
