I use my phone as a audio player for comuting and during this time internet connection is not required, however I'd still like to receive calls.Which radios would I need to disable to do this and is there a one click shortcut?

i got Absolution 3.7 on my htc inspire. i noticed that the radio in Absolution 3.7 drains battery. but the radio in cm7 doesnt drain as much.. and Absolution is cm7 based. is it possible to delete the radio in Absolution and install the one from cm7?

If I remove the SIM from the BOLD and place it in the Nexus...can I then sync using Active Sync to get to my corporate e-mail, calendar and contacts? Or, since I have a BB now would I need to have the plan changed to a regular data plan from a BB data plan? I am not sure? I dont have the option of asking our IT group as we don't support Android yet....

the onluy thing i got with data is USE APN toglle(if the dta connection toggle doesnt work you can try this) not sure what it means but i want to see if that will help me to get a better battery.
How can I set my default launcher to LauncherPro or froyo, I want to be able to switch between the two and set one of them as the default but be able to change it back, the only app in market atm is homeswitcher but it does not support froyo atm, and from the looks of it, the developer says he cant do it cause of the new api's in froyo.

I recently had to sell my Nexus to free up some quick cash for a lens i needed for my photography business i am working on. So i picked up a 9700 as a "Get me by" phone. Its been 4 weeks and i miss android BAD. I dont think i can live with out a touch screen phone. I am considering picking up a Vibrant, but everyones reviews on here scare me. Is it just because we are in a forum and people typically only post the problems they have with the phone and it just makes things look like a bigger issue than they really are? Will i be underwhelmed coming to the vibrant after having a past experiance with the Nexus? Or are there actually people on here loving there vibrant and not having lag/gps issues?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe switch has been a bit finicky for a few months. Today it stopped working all together. I couldn't turn the phone on except my plugging in power. Then I couldn't shut it off. I pulled the battery to try and reboot but now I can't turn it on. I opened the back but there is a star shaped screw and another with a void sticker on it. I was thinking of taking a look at the button leads to see if there is something lodged in there of perhaps if they were just dirty, I could clean them to get a better connection....but I will be crossing a line if I do.
The big question is....who do I turn to regarding a repair? Since I bought it from google, I don't think T-mobile will help. Once I finally reach the right person at google, they will most likely say ship it to us and we will look at it when we get around to it.
In January, I acquired a Nexus 7, and in July, I met my boyfriend. Yesterday, I suggested that we put a user account for him on the tablet, so that he could have quicker access to his own email, writing and so forth. This we accordingly did, and he has been having great fun installing apps for chess and ukelele playing, as well as working on his writing. However, this means that the lock screen is back. The lock screen irritates the b*ggery out of me, and I disabled it as fast as I could when I originally bought the tablet. The way you are meant to switch accounts, however, involves bringing up the lock screen every time, and it also means the lock screen appears whenever the tablet is wakened from sleep. I tried disabling the lock screen, but then we couldn't switch user accounts.
So far, the best solution I've found is to have a desktop widget for the No Lock app, so that I can have the lock screen disabled during the day, when I'm the only one using the tablet, and then put it back on when my boyfriend is around and we're both using the tablet. This will probably be fairly manageable, and I realise that I'm whingeing about a few seconds of screen-swiping here and there, but what would be really lovely would be if we could just have a widget we could press on our home screens that allowed us to switch user accounts, without all this faffing around with lock screens. I've been hunting through Google Play apps, and so far all I've encountered is one which sounds thoroughly dodgy and may not even do what I want.
I read that many people in my situation can't text/ receive messages with iphone because of the tricky iMessage.
But my friend's iphone 4s cannot receive 20-50% of my texts, could it be a network issue?
My old Iphone 4s' mother board was dead so ofcourse I did not turn off iMessage.
I have a stock 2.2 and have not done the recent OTA nor have ever been rooted. Can you do the OTA first, then 3.21 and be rooted for purposes of tethering? My concern with flashing a new ROM and radios (to get the latest stock ROM) is that some apps may no longer run, especially HTC Sync which I like using with Outlook, FM Radio, Audible, etc.

My bluetooth now works like it is supposed as opposed to Fresh.But my radios are a little behind with Myns. I thought about updating them to the newest versions as linked in the Fresh thread, but I was wondering. Are the radios tweaked for the specific roms or will all radios (and wimax, PRI, PRL, and NV) work with all roms?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst of all i got the Nexus 1, with stock 2.2 FRF91. my phone has an internet connection by itself (i always have the 3g icon and ability to browse the net at all times - both with or without the hotspot on). i also have a laptop running win7 32bit which connects to my wireless router with no problem. i tried setting up wifi hotspot on my nexus (both opened and secured - same result) then connecting with my laptop, it connects fine but then win says it has no internet connection (also when opening the "network and sharing center" it shows that the connection between the laptop and phone is ok, but phone-internet is broken). also, im not sure if that is related, but i tried connecting the desktop computer (win7 32bit) with usb tethering. my desktop has the nexus drivers installed (i am using adb commands here and there with no problem) again, it is connected and the pc is saying something about a "remote internet device" but no internet connection!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI ask for some clarification on ROMs, radios, bootloaders and kernals.I am currently running a rooted stock incredible. I want to try CM6, the 2.2 leak, and the 2.2 lite or Sky Raider. I know there are issues with having the right radio and kernal with all these. If I understand it right, the stock kernal will work with all of them. If I wan't to try another kernal I would be limited to kernals made to get along with those specific roms. Is this correct?I have the 1.x radio right now, which will work with CM6 right? If I go to the 2.2 leak it will upgrade it to 2.x, which will work with 2.2 lite or Sky Raider. However I am I right in thinking to go back to CM6 or stock from 2.2 leak I will have to downgrade the radio? Also, I will have to downgrade the bootloader as well?Whew, this is all so confusing.

have written code in my application to programmatically enable/ disable the airplane mode. This part of the application is working as intended. However, I also wish to disable only specific radios when the airplane mode is switched on. I found that there is the following string constant in android.provider.Settings.system: public static final String AIRPLANE_MODE_RADIOS A comma separated list of radios that need to be disabled when airplane mode is on. This overrides WIFI_ON and BLUETOOTH_ON, if Wi-Fi and bluetooth are included in the comma separated list. Constant Value: "airplane_mode_radios" So, I tried to change this system setting in my code to be able to disable only the WiFi radio in the airplane mode The problem is that doing this does not change the airplane mode as intended. It still seems to switch off all the wireless interfaces. I am using eclipse with the ADT plugin and using an Android 1.5 AVD Emulator. Can someone guide me on whether I am doing something wrong or if this is not supported on the emulator?

It used to lock to T-m*bile, I unlocked it lastweek then use L*bara instead cause got free internet service hehe. somehow, everytime i try to use internet service it says unable to connect to internet/ network unavailable. but I tried the simcard with another phone and it was working. some friends suggest me to re-unlock it. but i donno how to re-unlock it.

On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

Quick Story: I had a HTC Legend, and i had a number of problems, so after some arse kicking by me, i got the Nexus one for 25 per month
I am not new to android: i have had the G1 which i did not root, the T-Mobile pulse, which i rooted and the HTC Legend and now the Nexus one.

With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?
SMS, is there a similar app to the legend, where you see threaded messages with a picture of there facebook dp?
I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?
