Nexus :: Gmail On Phone Not Matching Gmail Online
Aug 18, 2010I noticed last night that the messages on Gmail on my phone weren't matching that of online, evening after forcing another sync. It's basically missing one conversation of (12) emails.I then checked using a desktop client and also installed K-9 on the phone and they both matched what was on Gmail online complete with the missing conversation. However, Gmail on my phone is missing the whole conversation, but has everything else. Any idea's why it'll just miss this one conversation? When I complete a search in Gmail on the phone for content from the conversation, it finds it, but it's just not in my Inbox?

Sep 17, 2012I would like to make an app that measures little time intervals (nanoseconds) so I need to know about time resolution and precision regarding such measures with an Android device.
In other words:
- Is it feasible to get reliable values of the current time with nanosecond resolution?
- If so, is feasible to measure such little time interavals? I mean, is there any way to tell the app/OS to focus on measuring the time interval specified in the current thread instead of allowing other processes to make the measuring task not precise?
I've tried to measure the time between the execution of two different lines in code but the results are not always the same, somehow random, then I suppose Dalvik and its process management is causing this to be unreliable and random. What I need to do is to measure distances by getting transmission and reception of audio tones of 16-20 KHz (done in [1] with iOS), thus needing resolution and precision.

Sep 21, 2010I was checking what was eating my battery the most earlier and noticed that calendar was the biggest drain based on partial wake usage.Can I set the interval that the calendar updates?I would like it to be automatic...just a.little less often.Is it possible that the gmail app also controls frequency for the cal? Something that popped into my head just now.

I'm having problems with the acceleration and orientation sensors.I would like to obtain sensor data (acceleration and orientation values) at regular intervals (10 milliseconds). However, the SensorEventListener doesn't allow you to do that. Does anyone have an idea of how to work around this issue? This is important as I need it to collect data for an app I'm working on.

Feb 11, 2010First of all, I have to say I love my Nexus One, I find the phone every previous phones (mines) should have been!
Today I was enjoying my phone and sending pictures to email contacts without any problem, but suddenly I got this "No connection" problem, and I cannot manage to get round it
Have you any clue of how to repair it? I've checked it and my gmail account (from my computer) is OK.
I found the solution. Just have to remove the storage data and get a fresh new sync. Sorry

The main entry point for the SampleSyncAdapter appears to be the onPerformSync(...) method. In the documentation page for the sample, it mentions that "[onPerformSync]...gets called whenever the sync manager issues a sync operation for that sync adapter." Who is this 'sync manager', and at what intervals will it instruct the sync adapter to onPerformSync()?

Jun 10, 2010Does anyone have the problem where Gmail isn't syncing properly? Or rather where the emails aren't getting pushed properly? It was working perfectly and then my emails were taking ages to come to my phone then i updated to froyo and reset my phone and it was working really well at times, emails would even come to my phone before it came on the computer. but now, its back again for example, when i registered here, the activation email didn't come, and after about 4 mins, i had to refresh it, and then it came. Does anyone have a fix for it?is it cos i have installed too many apps? or something like that? I did change my mobile internet pack and after i got off the phone with the customer service agent, i realized my internet wasn't on and then it had changed to another APN which doesn't seem to work, other internet stuff work. So is that the problem?

Apr 24, 2010It's great that Android 2.1 supports multiple Gmail accounts, but so far, I've found that it's not possible to select which one to use when sending a message from another app, such as Contacts or Gallery. What is particularly annoying is that, when doing this, it seems to automatically use whichever Gmail account I was viewing last. Am I missing something, or is this just a missing feature in Android?

Apr 7, 2014I've gone into settings on my Nexus 5, and everything is checked right. Auto sync is on under data usage, and under the Google account. I've tried deleting and re-adding them etc.
Been googling this all day and none of the answers I've found have worked.
Every time I open Gmail, at the top it says "account sync is turned off"
How do I get it to stay on? Or is this a glitch I'm just gonna have to get used to/wait for a fix.

I noticed that when you receive a new gtalk or new text message that it shows a quick preview of that messages in the notification bar at the top of the screen. However, when you receive an new gmail it just says "New Email". Is there a way to get the subject line of the email to be displayed in the Notification bar?

Mar 13, 2014I have added a second Gmail account to the app on my Nexus 7. I did so by going to Settings > Accounts and adding the new email address there. The email address now appears in the Gmail app and all is working fine.
My problem however, is that when i pull down the right hand menu on the homescreen (quick settings menu ?), the account that is shown in the top left corner is now the newly added account instead of my original, and main, account and tapping on the image only brings up the contact info for the second account.
I've looked everywhere and don't seem to be able to change it back to my regular account. I've opened Gmail, Play Store and G+ and made sure they're all set to the main account but it hasn't worked.

General :: Multiple Gmail And Play Accounts - Nexus 5?
Feb 23, 2014I have jusst dumped my iPhone and have joined the fold with my Nexus 5. I do have a couple of Android tablets so I am not totally new to this great OS.
I have 5 gmail accounts (primarily for email) and 2 of them are Google Play accounts, I used a different account for each tablet I had running. In hindsight the 2 google play accounts was stupid because now I have apps I want to use scattered on various devices, mainly on the Nexus 5, spread on both accounts.
Here is what I want to accomplish:
- Consolidate all of my apps to 1 single account and ideally close / delete one of them
- Just use the 1 single account on all of my deveices access all of my apps
- Have Google Play associate only with the 1 main account
- Utilize / access my 5 total gmail accounts for email only, I have no need to have 5 Google Keep, People, Calanders etc. I only use the 1 main account (the one I want all my apps in play to use) for all my contacts and notes and calanders. The remaining 4 accounts are really ony for email.
Nexus :: New Gmail Address Update Messed Up Syncing And Authentication
May 9, 2010People may have noticed the recent TLD change for UK gmail addresses previously googlemail.co.uk and now gmail.com. With this, it seems to have messed up my syncing and authentication for some reason. I changed over the other day and ever since I kept getting a message saying the authentication failed. I then added my gmail address as another account and set it to sync gmail (can't sync the calendar for some reason it's not an option). I have not received any push notifications of new mail and I have to manually refresh from within the mail app to get new e-mails. I don't want to remove the previous googlemail.co.uk as it says I have to restore my phone to factory settings (possibly losing messages etc.)

Mar 2, 2010I just received a replacement N1 because my original unit accumulated quite a bit of dust under the screen. Anyway, ever since I transitioned to the replacement unit I've been noticing some strange behavior in my Gmail accounts, namely the fact that all my new email messages are being automatically marked as read. It doesn't happen immediately as best as I can tell, but probably in the neighborhood of 30-60 minutes after they are received.Has anyone else ever come across this issue and can advise me of a solution?

On the available Android Eclair code, Gmail account can be added as 'exchange' or 'corporate' account. But on Nexus one there is a different account type for gmail.

General :: Nexus One Running 2.3.4 - Turn Off Important Labels In Gmail?
Jul 17, 2011I'm using a Nexus One running 2.3.4 and it looks like the gmail app version is 2.3.4.2 and I've noticed they've now incorporated the 'Important Labels' functionality into the app.
Problem is, I don't like/use/desire the important labels and now they're cluttering up my inbox view with a little yellow chevron next to the sender's name and the 'go to inbox' in the menu has moved and where it was is a 'mark important'
I had a look through the settings and I don't have priority inbox as my default, under label's there is a sync option for 'Important' which is set to 'None'.
Also I don't have the important labels for the web version of gmail proper on.
I think I may have accidentally marked one email on my phone as important (because that's where the go to inbox button was) so perhaps that's why they are showing up?
Any way to turn off/hide the important labels. Really annoyed that Google is making me find out how to opt-out of this feature rather than just asking if I wanted to opt-in
General :: Galaxy Nexus - Constant Gmail Sign In Fail
Apr 13, 2013I'm using a galaxy nexus with the newest version of jelly bean. For the past couple weeks, ive been experiencing a constant barrage of gmail sign in failed error messages.
I am able to login to gmail using the gmail application, as well as the generic email application. in the google account settings, it is able to be synced, and manually syncing doesn't prompt the error message.
I googled this issue and came across a couple solutions - changing my password using the chrome mobile browser, clearing the cache, etc, but nothing seems to work.
Its getting fairly frustrating having this notification pop up every few minutes or so.
Android :: Key Dispatching Timed Out
Aug 12, 2010In my Android application I am getting a very strange crash, when I press a button (Image) on my UI the entire application freezes and after a couple of seconds I getthe dreaded force close dialog appearing.
Here is what gets printed in the log:

If I comment the following out the pressing of the button (image) doesn't cause the crash:

The above code calls down through several levels of the app and into the native layer (NDK), could the call passing through several objects be leading to the force close? It seems unlikely as several other buttons do the same without issue.
How about the native layer? Could some code I've built with the NDK be causing the issue?
Android :: Timed Notification
Sep 9, 2010I'm writing an app, that lets users subscribe to notification for TV transmissions. Currently the user can choose email, sms or push, but it all feels a bit overkill for a simple timed notification. I wonder if I can tell Android to simply "show this Notification at 11:30"?
