I was checking what was eating my battery the most earlier and noticed that calendar was the biggest drain based on partial wake usage.Can I set the interval that the calendar updates?I would like it to be automatic...just a.little less often.Is it possible that the gmail app also controls frequency for the cal? Something that popped into my head just now.

I've read through the SampleSyncAdapter project

The main entry point for the SampleSyncAdapter appears to be the onPerformSync(...) method. In the documentation page for the sample, it mentions that "[onPerformSync]...gets called whenever the sync manager issues a sync operation for that sync adapter." Who is this 'sync manager', and at what intervals will it instruct the sync adapter to onPerformSync()?
HTC O2 Desire with 2.2 upgrade.All seems to be ok except for a Calendar problem.I tried to use HTC Synch, want to move apps to sd card, and managed to add extra anniversaries to my calendars i.e Outlook, Google and Desire.Outlook and Google had duplicate anniversaries and Desire has triplicate.Before I reconnect my Desire to my pc via HTC sync I need to resolve the triplication problem i.e. get my Desire to sync with Google calendar via my gmail acccount.I edited the online Google calendar and left that to synch with desktop Outlook via its normal sych routine. Outlook did ask one question; should it delete 169 items. I answered yes and Outlook updated. During this time I switched off synch on my Desire.I then tried to sych Desire to Google via my home wifi but without success. It seems that Desire synch will not stay up. The synch symbol shows for a few seconds then goes either using manual or autosynch; wifi is there all the time and I have a connection to my ISP i.e I can surf all I want using the wifi router connected to my desktop. Desire wifi signal shown as full strength.
I notice that if I manually synch my Desire the sync symbol against "Sync Calendar" stays on for some 15 seconds (but is not rotating after the symbol disappears from the top of the screen) whereas for Gmail and contacts the symbols quickly go out suggesting that more activity is taking place in calendar? Also the sync symbol at the top of the screen matches for contacts and Gmail but goes out after a few seconds for Calendar i.e does not stay on for 15 seconds.
Been trying to sync my calendar but the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" shows up. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me

I do not know if this ia problem with my phone or my google account. I use chrome and is logged into Google acount all the time. My Chrome crashed a couple of months back and I think the problem started then.

Pity it won't do notes as my Apple Ipod touch did.I now use my Desire as the master diary entry and control as set up in the options. As my Outlook 2002 is now aged I thought I might transfer to Google calendars where I have an account. But when I open the Tools in Synchronisation I only have the Outlook option.Can anyone advise how I sync with Google Calendars as then in effect I am using the Desire as the transfer medium from Outlook to Google without the hazards of import/export

Yet for some reason this does not link with google,so it's not syncing my picture or details.Anybody know how I can do this? You cannot delete the main contact.though I can add myself as a new phone contact(but then I would have two.)

View 1 Replies View RelatedSyncing with google calendar. I have a Macbook with iCal configured to match my Google calendar account. The two sync together with no problem. I tried setting up my HTC Desire to sync with my Google account which should give me three way sync but I get the following problem:
I open Calendar on my phone, I try to add an event, a message appears saying: YOU HAVE NO CALENDARS. Ont the settings side, if I hit MENU then MORE and I choose CALENDARS I can't see my Google account. If I hit SETTINGS there is nothing to add my Google account. If I go to the ACCOUNTS & SYNC settings, I see my Google account, but when I hit my account, the data synchronization theme only shows SYNC CONTACTS and SYNC GMAIL, there is no SYNC GOOLGLE CALENDAR (is this normal).
I had Syncmate installed on my macbook and had it configured on my Desire, but it didn't sync the calendar either so I deleted it from my accounts. Could this be causing my problem or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Is there any limit on how many calendars that can be synced? I only get 5 calendars to choose from when I check settings on my Desire. I have more calendars when I log in to Google Calendar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have now seen a related problem on two third party apps neither seem to be able to "see" contact information stored as "phone" contacts.My set-up: T-Mobile HTC Desire, using HTC Sync to sync contacts and calendar with Outlook on the desktop. Due to the limited functionality of the Google online offerings, I prefer to sync to Outlook.The handset shows all my contacts as "phone" contacts and all works well. Is anyone able to test this for me and if using either of the above apps, create a "phone" contact and see if you can set a direct dial or text using BetterCut, or if the email address appears as a look up in K-9 Mail?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.

I've manually synced them on the phone and refreshed the web page to no avail.I created one much earlier on (maybe even yesterday) and it's there.If I create a new contact on the web it appears almost immediately on the phone.

In other words:
- Is it feasible to get reliable values of the current time with nanosecond resolution?
- If so, is feasible to measure such little time interavals? I mean, is there any way to tell the app/OS to focus on measuring the time interval specified in the current thread instead of allowing other processes to make the measuring task not precise?
I've tried to measure the time between the execution of two different lines in code but the results are not always the same, somehow random, then I suppose Dalvik and its process management is causing this to be unreliable and random. What I need to do is to measure distances by getting transmission and reception of audio tones of 16-20 KHz (done in [1] with iOS), thus needing resolution and precision.
Looking for an app to turn on data only at regularly scheduled intervals, say every 15 minutes or so.Anything out there? I know juicedefender may do this but I've heard mixed reviews on it.

I'm having problems with the acceleration and orientation sensors.I would like to obtain sensor data (acceleration and orientation values) at regular intervals (10 milliseconds). However, the SensorEventListener doesn't allow you to do that. Does anyone have an idea of how to work around this issue? This is important as I need it to collect data for an app I'm working on.

I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!
I installed HTC Sync 2.0.28 on Win XP machine and Have HTC desire connected to it. Desire is able to connect to HTC Sync and works fine.
I have setup eclipse with Android SDK on the same Win XP machine.
Problem comes here ..
HTC sync works fine as long as i don't launch any Android SDK sample applications through eclipse on to virtual device. From that point phone no longer able connect to HTC Sync . Only Solution is i have to restart my workstation then only Desire is able to connect to Synch again. Restarting phone is not working.
I'm having a strange problem with a new appointment I've just entered in my Desire.Problem shows itself as follows:
1 Go to Doctor, get new appointment for 8:30am next Feb 14th.
2 Enter appointment into Desire under PC Sync calendar. Shows up OK in calendar.
3 Go Home. Sync with Outlook (2003 SP3) on home PC (XP Pro SP3)
4 Outlook shows appointment as 9:30am on Feb 14th.
5 Correct in Outlook back to 8:30 and re-sync.
6 Desire now shows appointment for 7:30am.
7 Repeat...
Off the top of my head, I'd say that there's a Daylight Saving / Summer Time issue here, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to go about fixing it.I live in Qld, Australia. Qld does not have Daylight Saving during Summer, but other Eastern Australian States do. I've only had the Desire for about 2 weeks, but no other dates have been increased/decreased by an hour when I've synced them. Google doesn't seem to be my friend (at least with the key words I've used).
I DO NOT want my damn phone syncing with GMAIL. how to make SURE it doesn't happen? I spent 2 hours TYPING IN all my contacts into the phone yesterday (yes...stupid..but that's what I needed to do) and now GMAIL has linked and overwritten most of them.Please tell me what to do so that GMAIL DOES NOT sync with my EVO.
