View 11 RepliesIs there any way to enable the notification bar to display the email header (sender, subject, date/time) of the latest email received, as well as the number of new emails in the notification tray?
I am coming from a Pre, which had a very nice notification system. The new email notification would show the sender, subject, and number of new emails. You could then click to either go to the mailbox, or directly to the latest new email shown at your discretion.
I have set up both GMail through the GMail app, and an Exchange server through the Mail app, but the only notification I get is "New email" without specifics. Also, clicking won't bring me directly to the new email, but to the Inbox.
I'm setting up my new desire, and gmail works just fine, but the push email or email notification perhaps rather, is acting kind of irrational.
First when I set it up it would go off at about the same time as my email checker on my computer using imap idle. On the second email arriving though there is no more notification from the desire phone, this may be a feature although a weird one. Now I go into the inbox on the desire and delete the 2 emails in question and exit. The next time an email arrives the phone will react but not nearly as fast, it can be minutes or even more.
I wonder why facebook messenger just stop showing notification, but it is normally receiving the messages.

Just got my Nexus One (on At&t) last week and I LOVE it. I noticed that when you receive a new gtalk or new text message that it shows a quick preview of that messages in the notification bar at the top of the screen. However, when you receive an new gmail it just says "New Email". Is there a way to get the subject line of the email to be displayed in the Notification bar?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there an app out there for 2.0 that will allow me to specify the color of the LED based on whether it is an email, gmail, facebook? I already have Handcent for SMS.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFor me the Nexus one integration to MS Exchange is working fine except for one little problem. Although my inbox emails are getting push notified, I'd want an ability to choose other folders to get pushed also. I do not see any setting for that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post on the androidforums. I usually just read what other people wrote, but I can't seem to find a related post for my current problem.I date someone overseas in S. Korea, and since there's no way to send text msgs in Korean from here, I talk to her using activesync with a gmail account. She can check emails on her phone from Korea, and my phone sends me notification everytime I get an email from her. Basically it's same as texting except it allows me to type in Korean and doesn't cost a dime. For the reasons mentioned above, saving battery life isn't much of an option for me. I need to have activesync or gmail push running instantly. I tried using "check email every 5 minutes", but just imagine having to stay idle for 5 minutes everytime you text with your friends.
As of today, gmail push on android seems to work with 5 - 30 minutes delay (or manual refresh). However, Exchange Activesync will not even allow me to sync gmail (Different errors every time even though I'm putting the same information; gmail address,m.google.com as server address, username & password). I thought activesync just allows me to use "gmail push" on HTC mail app, so I don't quite understand why gmail app works (despite the lag), but activesync won't even let me sync my mail. Activesync last worked on 06/17/2010.Also, gmail push works with no lag when I'm on wifi. Is this normal?I'm starting to think there's a problem with the Sprint network or my phone. Gmail push also works instantly if my 3G bar is white. If it's greyed out, no emails come until the 3G bar turns white. Now I have to turn on AIM or MSN messenger to keep the data flowing and manually keep the 3G bar white. Then gmail push comes instantly. It's pretty ridiculous because the battery then lasts about 2-4 hours.
I use the Gmail app for my business email. My email is pushed, and all is well. I have a personal Gmail account that I set up with the stock HTC email software. It just polls at whatever time frame I tell it. I don't like that. I want it to push.
Any way to make it push?
I'm not interested in forwarding my personal email to business, by the way.
I'm not sure if this is a Nexus issue, but does anyone else have a problem with push on exchange where e-mails marked as read or unread on your computer aren't reflected as being marked read or unread on your device. It works if I refresh, but the whole point of push is not having to refresh.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my gmail is not coming forward unless I refresh it. It never lets me know anymore if I have a new email. It was working great.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThat's pretty much all I want to know. I have no constructive input (save for that the release of the SDK may herald a new era of notifications for facebook :P), but just wanted to complain. That is all.
View 18 Replies View RelatedOut of curiosity is there any battery savings (or other inherent savings) in using a pre-set time to check Exchange email vs. Push? For example my corporate email is Exchange and my BlackBerry is set to push; on my N1 I have it set-up to check every 10 minutes. Would using Push decrease my battery life? Decrease my RAM? Any other downsides?
On the flip side - are there any advantages to enabling Push?
I flashed flipz rooted rom onto my EVO. Everything is working great except my email.
The only way I can get my email is to manually refresh from within the gmail app. Before flashing this rom, all my email was being pushed to my phone without any type of interaction, normally, it would reach my phone before it got to my desktop browser.
I've double checked every setting and it's all the way it was before. Even double checked it against my hero and everything looks copacetic. Has anybody else had this problem or possibly any clues as to what i can do or try?
Quick Story: I had a HTC Legend, and i had a number of problems, so after some arse kicking by me, i got the Nexus one for 25 per month
I am not new to android: i have had the G1 which i did not root, the T-Mobile pulse, which i rooted and the HTC Legend and now the Nexus one.
Some questions?
With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?
SMS, is there a similar app to the legend, where you see threaded messages with a picture of there facebook dp?
I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?
Nexus 1 (1GHZ) Cpu apps are there any i can play on
EP build UK Android 2.2 i have done some Googleing and cant find a release date for it
For some reason on my Nexus 5 running Liquidsmooth AOSP, I can not receive any GCM push notifications. My push notifications work fine on stock. This is happening for apps like instagram, twitter, snapchat, etc. It only appears to happen when my phone in deep sleep, when the screen is off for roughly 5+ minutes. I have tried PNF, different gapps, different kernels. Also on a clean install of course.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIm facing a problem in android app for push notification, i used to register the app in Urban Airship. But when i run the app, im getting a response as Application registration invalid!
I referenced the sample application from github, i have used the same coding in my application.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI love that Gmail emails come right away but my main email is Yahoo (and I have others) is there anyway to set yahoo up for Push (I have searched and searched but there is no difinitive answer that I could find) - how about other email services.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my Incredible for almost a week now and I still havent brought myself to set up my Gmail to POP my work and Hotmail accounts. I just don't care for the Gmail system or client for Android OS.
I DO have a Gmail account (pretty much forced into it) but my main accounts are Hotmail and my own custom domain (non-exchange).
Yes, i'm coming from a Blackberry and have been spoiled with the best Push technology out there. No, i will not go back to Blackberry, so please spare the suggestions.
What i am wondering is if there is any 3rd party app out there that will Pop your email acct(s) and push the mail to your phone to either the stock HTC Mail app or it's own 3rd party client.
I've seen K-9 - but not sure if this is what i'm looking for.
I've seen Touchdown - but this appears to be only for Exchange.
Can either of these applications provide Push Email to Android or are there any others out there? If not, does anyone know of any on the horizon?
How do I set up e-mail push service for gmail to Dx? I have the account added and can manually go to the account and tell it to sync and it works. It never updates by itself. I went to settings> data manager> data delivery and "email and corporate sync is a darker color and I can not click it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGmail.is supposed to be pushed to the Incredible correct? I am using the HTC mail widget for my pop work account and the gmail icon for gmail. But email seems much slower to reach the gmail account. Also when I send emails out the.gmail takes considerably longer.

View 11 Replies View RelatedIs anyone getting push email from Gmail right now? I understand there were some issues due to the Chinese hack but was wondering if it worked for anyone. I get it, I just have to manually refresh. Anyone noticed any other issues as a result of this? Any work arounds to get push working again?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rarely get emails and this push email is killing my battery, i have the HTC Magic+ with Htc sense so im wondering if theirs a way i can stop it from pushing and just get fetch hopefully? or manually.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know a lot of people have been having this problem AFTER updating to Froyo, but I haven't done the update yet and my Gmail just quit pushing about 2 days ago. I've had my Evo a little over a month and this is the first time this has been a problem. It's not even that it's just delayed, it will not push AT ALL without a manual refresh. Sometimes even the manual refresh doesn't bring up all of the most recent stuff.
I've tried hard and soft resets.
Deleted account and reinstated account.
I only have one Google account.
Google Calendar works.
GTalk is logged in and working.
Again, I know this has been a post-Froyo problem for many and Google is addressing it (according to another thread on here), but what about for those of us still on Eclair?
I did a search and the thread on this issue has been locked and it was for the Incredible. Anyone else have this issue? I have enabled the mobile connection to be on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGmail pushes almost instantly. But this only seems to work when the phone is in use. Is this normal; I just switched over from the Storm 2.
