My nexus one phone crashed a week ago, I reseted the factory settings, and since then I can't find the power control system(wifi, gps, Bluetooth and screen brightness) widget which I had on my home page when I first bought the phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.
Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:
D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so
What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.
I have an ally and i just had to get a new one because my old one was re-booting. anyway, I had the google navigation beta shortcut on my home page on my last phone and i cant find it now. its the blue arrow. i have re-booted to see if it shows up, nothing. i have searched the market for "google maps" and cant find it. can i do a manual update?

I can get hold of a cheap US-UK power adapter that doesn't do any voltage changes, so I was wondering whether that would be sufficient. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Do you know what would cause this? I am looking for a micro USB cable to see if the phone socket is still working. If the phone socket is broken, I guess HTC support is the first place to go?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrent iPhone owner thinking about making the switch to the Verizon Nexus One. I have a concern about the usability of the power (wake) button on the top left of the Nexus One that I haven't heard anyone else mention so perhaps it isn't as big of an issue as I anticipate. Basically my concern is that the hand position and motion required to wake the device using that button is not the same position you want your hand to be in to use the phone. For example, with the iPhone I wake my device with the bottom "home" button that is on the face of the device and then I can very quickly just move my thumb up to swipe-to-unlock without having to reposition the phone. It seems like this would not be possible with the Nexus One given that there isn't a wake button on the face of the phone near the bottom.I'd really love to hear from current Nexus One owners. Is this not the usability issue that I am making it out to be? Do you just adjust and find a new way of quickly waking and then swiping to unlock the phone that is just as comfortable and efficient as with the iPhone? If so, what do you do?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I have done, but the power button on the top, which I used to be able to press to turn off the screen, no longer works. I can use it to turn on the screen. And I can hold it on to power down, airplane mode, etc. But pressing it once does nothing when the screen is lit up. I have tried wiping all data from the boot menu. This restores the functionality, but when I restore all my data and apps (MyBackupPro) the problem returns.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe switch has been a bit finicky for a few months. Today it stopped working all together. I couldn't turn the phone on except my plugging in power. Then I couldn't shut it off. I pulled the battery to try and reboot but now I can't turn it on. I opened the back but there is a star shaped screw and another with a void sticker on it. I was thinking of taking a look at the button leads to see if there is something lodged in there of perhaps if they were just dirty, I could clean them to get a better connection....but I will be crossing a line if I do.
The big question is....who do I turn to regarding a repair? Since I bought it from google, I don't think T-mobile will help. Once I finally reach the right person at google, they will most likely say ship it to us and we will look at it when we get around to it.
I purchased a replacement digitizer for my broken Nexus 7 (first generation). Now, the *first* step of the repair process is to power-off the Nexus 7...
BUT It's BROKEN! I cannot press on 'power off' option when holding the power button for 10 seconds - that resets the unit.
How am I supposed to power it down?
Neither Firefox or Chrome will display the full page on an Avon site. The page will display the information which advises me that invoices are listed below and can be downloaded in pdf format. Unfortunately there is no list. All displays as it should on my laptop and desktop.

Had a look on the HTC site with no joy. Phone is running 2.2.1 but she doesn't use any of the new features.
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe worst thing about the nexus one is that you power on the phone by simply pressing the power button, not by *holding* it. how can I just *check* if the phone is turned off? when i go to a movie, i just want to double-check it's off, so i short-press power button but then if it's already off then i would instead be turning it on and have to wait for the long boot-up process. i just can't "make sure it's off".

So i broke the screen on my Galaxy Nexus.
I also broke the power button (flex ribbon) at the same time.
I am told that the technicians will wipe the hard drive when they go to fix the screen.
I am wondering if there is a way i can backup the pictures from my phone to my PC without the power on the phone turning on.
Also, is this wipe is even necessary, i have another tech who seems somewhat shady and small scale but claims he can fix it without the wipe.
I have a Nexus S running 4.0.4. I did the update manually when it was released.
The bootloader is unlocked from previous ROM experiments but this ICS is stock/unrooted.
A few weeks later, the power button now doesn't work. This is a VERY common issue, but no one knows for sure if it is Hardware or Software. I was going to lock my bootloader and send it in to get a fix or replacement device from my carrier. Alternatively, I was going to attempt to flash a ROM onto it and see if the button comes back.
The bizarre thing is that when I go into fastboot, the device freezes and I cannot use any of the buttons. Furthermore, below the device information, nothing else shows up. The device shows up to ADB when booted, but Device Manager doesn't even find an unknown device when in Fastboot.
My Google Nexus 7 which is running 4.2.1, at least I'm not aware of a 4.2.2 upgrade having happened, is flashing up a message "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped working"
Nothing I do can get rid of it, It won't even turn off.If your quick enough after accepting the OK option you can get it to say access the emails but you can't get any further.Its become totally useless.
New to Nexus 10 and android, but not to tablets.
Just downloaded my first app---vim touch; the whole reason for getting a Nexus 10---but I have no idea where it is. It's nor on the all apps screen. Nor is it in downloads.
I'm sort of new to the Android OS 1.6, but i have a few questions on memory resources. 1. Can the SD card be used and utilized to speed up the android system like READYBOOST works on windows with external memory sources which utilizes a flash drive or SD card to be used like internal memory? 2.I'm having issues with apps & system programs running in the background. I know i refer to windows. but is there a way to kill startup apps like it's possible with MSConfig in windows without using a Startup Cleaner which force closes everything at boot and more times than not it freezes my androind seemingly forever?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my Nexus 1. I rooted it when I got it (some months ago), so I don't really remember all the details about how I did it, was probably some cyanogen mod thing. However back then I remember having a small issue with the "system update available" message that displays in the notification bar, when an update is available. The problem was that the message kept appearing even though the 2.2 update was successfully installed. The problem seemed to disappear at some point, but now it is back, and worse. I cannot turn on or wake up my phone without getting the annoying message in my face.
I did try to follow the instructions in the message and actually install the update and reboot (even though the phone is running 2.2), however it didn't help. So right now I am pressing the "install later" option every time I want to use the phone. Also, I found out that I can root the phone with the program Universal Androot, so I guess the solution would be to somehow unroot using the old method (that I have forgotten) and then just use the Universal Androot program whenever I want to do something that requires root. Now the reason I write all this is that I am a bit scared of bricking the thing (even though i hear it should be next to impossible).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a very big problem with my samsung galaxy nexus. It started 2 weeks ago when I tried to turn ON my phone, and it randomly can't Load the system (Jelly Bean 4.2.2). When I try to Turn it ON, the Nexus Picture stock up (the green red blue yellow moving image suddenly stop) and then a MATRIX like will appear on the screen (sometimes around the nexus image there will be green lines and dots. And sometimes the whole screen will have green pixels/Dots). I thought that the system is damaged, after many trials of recovering the system, I Decided to do a factory reformat/ return to factory settings.
Since I can't access the system, I unlocked the phone , installed teamwin recovery system, and did a wipe of all the things inside the internal memory (that was the most stupid decision ever) since I lost the backup system image inside the internal sd card.
I decided all of that all because that the Galaxy Nexus don't have a external SD CARD. And since I can't do a recovery of my files (because I need to be inside Android to have a DB connection to the phone). I had no option than to wipe all System, Dalvik, Cache, and Data. Now I can't flash any android system since the Clockwork and teamwin need the android image to be inside the SD CARD. And I can't send/receive any file from/to the SD card. I already tried "Nexus Root Toolkit" and "Galaxy Nexus Toolkit".
One good thing is I did install an "ICE CREAM SANDWICH image" using "Odin" (Since that was the only image I found in the internet that can be installed using Odin, but there is no luck also, when the animation is loading, the animation suddenly stop and the phone restarts.
