How do I find out what is keeping my CPU awake? Nexus S
we already got a battery meter in android 4.2.2, and it can tell if something is keeping the phone awake. For example, it shows that the "Android OS" is keep the system awake for 10 hours, but it can not tell me which app is holding some wake locks or wakes the phone frequently.I also installed Better BatteryStats, under Kernel Wakelock, it shows that the gps_lock is holding for 10 hours, but also not related to any app.
View 9 Replies View Relatedyesterday i noticed that my GS3 battery drained too quickly ,checked Battery in settings and noticed that my phone is most of the time AWAKE ...
installed GSamBatteryStats , checked what app caused the most Cpu-WakeUp , and it was Maps & Google Services
tried unchecking The google Location Services but didn't change anything ( the screenshot is after unchecking it )
What is keeping my phone awake through the night and hence draining my battery rapidly. I am going to post screenshots and BetterBatteryStats dump file to make it as clear as possible.
Basically, what I see is that the phone was mostly awake at night and was in deep sleep only for about 1 hour. I don't think it is normal.
my uptime is 117:27 and awake time is 114:11. This is the first time Ive seen the numbers so high and that close together. They are usually much far apart. and i noticed my battery has been draining alot faster than usual the past few days so im assuming something is keeping my phone awake. How can i tell whats causing it? I havent downloaded any new apps in the last few days so I dont know what it could be.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEver since the last update Handcent keeps my phone awake, and subsequently kills the battery if I get a text message and don't get to it for a while. I have the pop-up set to not turn on the screen or even appear over the lock screen. I uninstalled for a while used chomp and stock, along with sms popup and neither caused similar behavior?

View 4 Replies View Related-Phone unplugged from the charger at 9:12 with 100% Battery power (according to battery indicator)
-Access the market once
-wake up the phone at 9:43 and the battery indicator is down to 94%
wtf? Check spare parts partial wake usage since last unplugged and the Calander is up there at the top above the Android system.
I think I've found the battery culprit on my wife's new Incredible. We both got new Incredibles and pretty much set them up the same, except she has to use Good for Enterprise to manage her company email/calender. My phone sleeps like it should, but her phone has been awake 100% of the time since she downloaded Good. After a week of trying to figure out what is keeping her phone from sleeping, I think I have found the answer (and developed a mild case of OCD).
My question is: does anyone know how to set the sync interval for Good? The problem seems to be that it is constantly syncing, which never allows the phone to go to sleep (Up time = Awake time).
Last night I noticed that there is an update to Slacker, so I downloaded it to my Incredible. Opened it to see if there were any visible differences, went to a station and played a song for 2 seconds, selected quit via the menu, and then "shutdown slacker" at the end. This morning I open up Spare Parts, check the battery history/partial wake usage, and Slacker is at the top, bar all the way to the right.

My nexus one phone crashed a week ago, I reseted the factory settings, and since then I can't find the power control system(wifi, gps, Bluetooth and screen brightness) widget which I had on my home page when I first bought the phone.

I have a Nexus 7 tablet and every few days I notice a few new apps on the device. I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone is Jiayu G3S, with a MTK6589 cpu and android version 4.2.1 I use latest xposed installer and latest gravitybox.
My problem is that something is keeping my cpu busy in the background, preventing it from sleeping.
For example, i left it last night, and i opened it after 12 hours, it was awake and using cpu for about 90 minutes.
My normal consumption is 0.3% every hour, but now it is 3%, like 10 times more. Also noticed greater consumption when screen is on. As you can see, there is no strange wakellock that lasts that long and all my apps have settings not to auto-update. I tried reading my logs but i didnt find any info.
I cant find or/and download new google maps. I tried searching different keywords, m.google.com/maps, Even QR code.

I would prefer running such services in background instead of foreground to save space on the notification bar.
So I was wondering how risky is running services in the background with JB?
Having come from an HTC Hero I am struggling with my dialing options? Previously if I wanted to dial Martin I could just tap 627 on the keypad and the option was there.
Now with the Nexus one do I really have to scroll through all my contacts to find the correct person? Surely this is very laborious and slow.
Making a speed dial seems a bit silly as well as there are so many people in my contact list.
So any suggestions?
My dad's phone is running Android 2.3.5.
He uses a Hotmail address.
If he:Downloads the e-mails on his phone, thenDeletes an e-mail via. the website (mail.live.co.uk) ... the deleted e-mails doesn't disappear from his phone in the Email app.
This means he now has 500+ e-mails in the app when there are only around 50 in his inbox.
I'm thinking of migrating to Android to keep my customer records. Any decent database app for android?I'd like to be able to pull up customer or computer or job related info on my phone or tablet but also like to be able to see it on a windows pc too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Rezound running Android 4.0.1, and I notice that it very rarely enters sleep mode, even after the screen has been off for a very long period of time.
Is there any way I can determine which apps are keeping the phone from entering sleep mode? ..or which app is waking it up constantly, whichever the case may actually be?
I have tried doing a logcat and just let it run for a while after turning the screen off, but I'm not quite sure what to look for in the results..
I don't want to use APK Multi-Tools or APK_Manager or whatever. I want to know exactly what those tools are doing in order to recompile the system apk while keeping the original signature.
What I initially did...
Code:
apktool d "%~dpnx1.apk" "%~dpnx1"
...modify files here...
apktool b "%~dpnx1" "%~dpnx1.apk"
But obviously that's unsigned. I need to sign it, but I want to use the original signature, which I'm guessing is the META-INF stuff, right? So I attempted this...
Code:
apktool d "%~dpnx1.apk" "%~dpnx1"
7za x -o"%~dpnx1-signature" "%~dpnx1.apk" META-INF -r
...modify files here...
apktool b "%~dpnx1" "%~dpnx1.apk"
7za a -tzip "%~dpnx1.apk" "%~dpnx1-signature/*" -mx9
You'll notice I now use 7-Zip to pull out META-INF from the original APK and then insert it back into the recompiled one afterwards.
The only other thing I can think of would be to go with my first method, but then use 7-zip to pull out the compiled files from the unsigned apk and insert them into the signed apk. I haven't tried that yet, but it will be the next one I go with. Every time this fails, though, I have to do a nandroid restore.
For those interested, after running "apktool b" (to build/compile), ignore the output zip. Instead go into the source directory and there is now a build directory. In that is an apk directory. Simply add your changed files to the original untouched APK (if you modified any XML files, then replace resources.arsc; if you added anything to smali, then replace classes.dex; if you added any XML files, then you need to include those as well; for me, i copied resources.arsc, classes.dex, and one new XML file). I used the following command:
Code:
zip -9 ..SystemUI.apk reslayoutstatus_bar.xml classes.dex resources.arsc
I use zip instead of 7za for cosmetic reasons. You can also use "7za a -tzip etc..." if you want.
Any way to lock apps in memory without keeping icon in status bar? I guess I have problem with Lux auto brightness and Keep Screen On. I turned off icon of this apps in bar, and they are stopping working I guess that is because android JB is killing them when there is no icon.
