I purchased a replacement digitizer for my broken Nexus 7 (first generation). Now, the *first* step of the repair process is to power-off the Nexus 7...
BUT It's BROKEN! I cannot press on 'power off' option when holding the power button for 10 seconds - that resets the unit.
How am I supposed to power it down?

I have a Nexus S running 4.0.4. I did the update manually when it was released.
The bootloader is unlocked from previous ROM experiments but this ICS is stock/unrooted.
A few weeks later, the power button now doesn't work. This is a VERY common issue, but no one knows for sure if it is Hardware or Software. I was going to lock my bootloader and send it in to get a fix or replacement device from my carrier. Alternatively, I was going to attempt to flash a ROM onto it and see if the button comes back.
The bizarre thing is that when I go into fastboot, the device freezes and I cannot use any of the buttons. Furthermore, below the device information, nothing else shows up. The device shows up to ADB when booted, but Device Manager doesn't even find an unknown device when in Fastboot.
I have a lg lucid4g and i need transferring the photos to my computer but I'm having a hard time because my phone does not respond to my touch im guessing its the digitizer.Is there anyway i can this without having to buy a new digitizer?I tried a couple of software such as "android recovery, mobile trans and a few others but with no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis phone was my dads until he got a new one, but he only has a limited amount of time to retrieve the data before it goes back to T-mobile or else he has to pay money for the broken phone core. It was dropped, and broke the digitizer but not the screen. As of now, the display doesn't work at all, but I can hear the phone turn on just fine. I have been trying to think of how I can access the internal storage without tearing the phone apart and getting to the storage directly(not sure if that would work either).

My sitch is this: My HTC Incredible has broken screen and digitizer. Otherwise the phone seems to power up and work. I have all my pictures stored on the internal memory (boo). Is there any way to get to the internal memory given that I can't set the phone to USB Debugging mode? Is there an app that I can install on my pc that will allow me to "press buttons" on the phone? I have installed DroidExplorer and I can see the phone, and the sync works... But thats it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my LCD and digitizer on my Nexus 4 after i dropped it and the screen cracked. It was still in working condition after the damage, but the touch screen was unresponsive. The installation went pretty smoothly but when I went to boot it up after it gets stuck at the bootup screen with the 4 bubbles. I tried some of the solutions people found for a similar problem a few months back when Google released Kit Kat 4.4 for the Nexus 4 but none of them have worked for me. There doesn't seem to be any hardware functionality issues, just some software glitch that I can't figure out.

The problem is that it's still not possible to turn on the phone with the volumen button (shutdown/run out of battery). I changed the gpio-keys.kl and Generic.kl file for remapping.

When I put it in charge, it just shows the charging screen. The phone is a Winmax W8000 (Winmax is Bangladeshi company. I'm from Bangladesh). It runs on Jellybean (4.1). It wasn't rooted. I tried to get into Download mode, but pressing the volume buttons and plugging in the charger doesn't work.

I also broke the power button (flex ribbon) at the same time.
I am told that the technicians will wipe the hard drive when they go to fix the screen.
I am wondering if there is a way i can backup the pictures from my phone to my PC without the power on the phone turning on.
Also, is this wipe is even necessary, i have another tech who seems somewhat shady and small scale but claims he can fix it without the wipe.
My nexus one phone crashed a week ago, I reseted the factory settings, and since then I can't find the power control system(wifi, gps, Bluetooth and screen brightness) widget which I had on my home page when I first bought the phone.

Since then, my Evo has had to have the digitizer replaced twice in the past two weeks due to it cracking. It cracks with very little, if any pressure is put on it, as it is in my pocket when this occurs. Why would my digitizer keep cracking? What could I have possibly done wrong during the replacement process that would cause the digitizer to crack?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new screen for my HTC Sensation and now I can't drag. I can still tap stuff, but it's not as responsive. I downloaded several touchscreen testing apps and it seems like when I press the screen for more than 1 second, the digitizer can no longer detect my touch. So if I try to drag something, it works for 1 second, then the screen can't detect my finger anymore.
Is this a problem with the new digitizer or is this a software issue? I'm using ViperS 1.4.1.
My sero pro produce random false touches when connected to computer via usb cable. That makes it very inconvinient to use for development. It does not have this problem when the cable is not connected. That is most apparent when "Show touches" is turned on in developer settings.
I opened it up looking for loose joints on usb or digitizer ports, but everything seems good with that.
I live in the UK and have ordered my Nexus One from the US, without a UK adapter. My question is what voltage the standard AC adapter uses, as the UK runs 240V typically. I can get hold of a cheap US-UK power adapter that doesn't do any voltage changes, so I was wondering whether that would be sufficient. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Do you know what would cause this? I am looking for a micro USB cable to see if the phone socket is still working. If the phone socket is broken, I guess HTC support is the first place to go?

I have a concern about the usability of the power (wake) button on the top left of the Nexus One that I haven't heard anyone else mention so perhaps it isn't as big of an issue as I anticipate. Basically my concern is that the hand position and motion required to wake the device using that button is not the same position you want your hand to be in to use the phone. For example, with the iPhone I wake my device with the bottom "home" button that is on the face of the device and then I can very quickly just move my thumb up to swipe-to-unlock without having to reposition the phone. It seems like this would not be possible with the Nexus One given that there isn't a wake button on the face of the phone near the bottom.I'd really love to hear from current Nexus One owners. Is this not the usability issue that I am making it out to be? Do you just adjust and find a new way of quickly waking and then swiping to unlock the phone that is just as comfortable and efficient as with the iPhone? If so, what do you do?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I have done, but the power button on the top, which I used to be able to press to turn off the screen, no longer works. I can use it to turn on the screen. And I can hold it on to power down, airplane mode, etc. But pressing it once does nothing when the screen is lit up. I have tried wiping all data from the boot menu. This restores the functionality, but when I restore all my data and apps (MyBackupPro) the problem returns.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe switch has been a bit finicky for a few months. Today it stopped working all together. I couldn't turn the phone on except my plugging in power. Then I couldn't shut it off. I pulled the battery to try and reboot but now I can't turn it on. I opened the back but there is a star shaped screw and another with a void sticker on it. I was thinking of taking a look at the button leads to see if there is something lodged in there of perhaps if they were just dirty, I could clean them to get a better connection....but I will be crossing a line if I do.
The big question is....who do I turn to regarding a repair? Since I bought it from google, I don't think T-mobile will help. Once I finally reach the right person at google, they will most likely say ship it to us and we will look at it when we get around to it.
I have a rooted Galaxy S3 with Android 4.1.2, and for some strange reason they've changed the screenshot combination away from the Power+VolDown that other Androids use to Power+Home which can't realistically be pressed one-handed. How can I change it back to Power+VolDown?
View 6 Replies View Relatedthe worst thing about the nexus one is that you power on the phone by simply pressing the power button, not by *holding* it. how can I just *check* if the phone is turned off? when i go to a movie, i just want to double-check it's off, so i short-press power button but then if it's already off then i would instead be turning it on and have to wait for the long boot-up process. i just can't "make sure it's off".

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy 14yo daughter worked a summer job during the school break and with her hard earned $$ she purchased her "baby"... a Samsung Moment SPH-M900. She is so proud she bought it with her own money & you couldn't pry it from her fingers. Well... to get onto my subject matter; three weeks later (and on her 14th birthday) she accidently dropped it and shattered the glass lens over the lcd touch screen. Imagine her disappointment! Surprisingly, everything on the phone still works. We've obtained a few repair quotes, but $100 to $120 is a bit out-of-budget for her and us (parents) at this time. However, I did order a replacement digitizer I found on line by OEM for $25 that comes with two tools for the job. I am an experienced modeler as well as electronic savy yet my daughter is very reluctant in allowing me to do surgery on her baby. Can anyone instruct me on this proceedure or direct me to a site with schematics and/or details of the repair to help ease her conscience?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I got caught in the rain and the phone died. I tried to turn it on the day after and the touchscreen was completely weird, it acted like I pushed all over the place. I turned it off and put it in rice for 4-5 days. When I turned it on the bottom half of the screen worked for a day, then it stopped working again. I put it in rice for about 10 days, then I used a hairdryer for about 5 hours on low heat.
Now, still only half the touchscreen works. Sometimes it wants to go helicopter view when I'm only using one finger, sometimes the notification bar is activated if I'm playing around in the lower regions and sometimes the screen stops being responsive at all. Thinking I'm the handyman I just ordered a new digitizer, but I have no real idea if that's the problem or not. Can something have corroded inside and caused this, or will a new digitizer most likely fix this?
New digitizer: 40 usd. Insurance: 160 usd. Obviously I want it to be the digitizer
