I see the GPS icon light up when I'm using (or just quit using) the browser. I check the Spare Parts Battery History and the browser is the only app shown to have used the GPS. But in Browser Settings I have Enable Location unchecked and no special exception sites in Website Settings.
So as far as I can see I've told the browser not to use the GPS in every place possible yet it still does. Any ideas?

Anyone have trouble with the stock browser? it keeps on freezing on me, and i hit stop but it still looks like it's refreshing. so i downloaded dolphin browser and it works with no problems. the first time this happened, i did a battery pull, but i dont want to do that every time. also, i didnt download any task killers b/c i have read that they are unnecessary.

OK, I know how to clean or empty the browser, but is there anything else I can do or should do ? what I mean is, in Windows I have programs that clean out old files etc, can this be done on the Nexus 1 ? is there an app ? is it needed ? or do I have to reset it to get rid of all the junk, stuff like old files from removed programs etc ?

I create some webpages which I want to make sure that it works in HTML5 browsers. The way I go about the testing is, I first create the webpages in my laptop, copy the folder to my Nexus 7, and open the index.html in the browser.
Now, I heard that Google Chrome is a HTML5 browser. But I am unable to open my html file in that when I open it from File Manager. I tried Dolphin Browser, but it crashes the moment it opens.
So, is there any other HTML5-only browser I can use for this purpose?
Anyone knows how I can call a phone number that appears in the browser? iPhone used to turn those automatically to click-able links that call to the phone app, not so in Android. I've also tried to copy the number and paste it in the phone app, however, it didn't seem to work. Is there another way? Or maybe I should use another browser?

A website I frequent recently changed to add advertisements to the right side. Somewhat annoying, but hey, gotta make money. In doing so they added a 300 pixel margin to the right side of their pages to allow for the ad. On my 1080p monitor, it's no issue, plenty of pixels to go around. The content on this page is also set to 100% wide, making it use up my entire screen very nicely. Then I view the same page on my Nexus 10, or any mobile browser for that matter, and it looks like garbage, because everything has been over doubled in size.
I get why the browser does this, to make everything easier to view and interact with. I don't care about that, I want to be able to see as much content as possible at once, I want all of my pixels to be used. So that is what I want to find out, is there any way to make any android browser display things at actual size, instead of zoomed in size? The main browser I use is the stock one because of the Desktop user agent (several sites, like Wikipedia, are so awful to navigate in Chrome since it mobile formats them) and I have tried Dolphin as well (which has a zoom setting but it doesn't make a difference). I know Dolphin has an option to add a custom user agent, so is there any user agent that fix this issue that I should put in? Or is there an app that addresses this?
I've been using the stock browser and it's been playing flash content fine. I just installed Dolphin HD browser but for some reason it's not loading any flash content on any site. Anyone have any ideas why not? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and rebooting as well. I'm out of ideas. The stock browser still works though. I'm on FRF91, non-rooted.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated my nexus to Froyo, when I'm using the browser it will start to take up all of my available memory causing me to get the low storage warning and sometimes stop me from getting text messages. The only way to free back up the memory is to go force close the browser, which is sometimes using up to 80 mb of data. Ive already tried a factory data reset and also went into the recovery and wiped and clear the cache. I never had this problem in 2.1 and its really annoying.

Has anyone else had this problem? and if so, are there any solutions to this besides uninstalling flash?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had dolphin installed to check out MT, but really never liked it. As soon as the MT update was installed on my phone, I removed dolphin. Then I noticed that my regular browser was no longer multitouch. As soon as I installed dolphin again, multitouch returned to the stock browser. So to me it looks like dolphin was installing the same MT files that the stock browser now uses, and when it uninstalls, it removes those files. Looks like this may be something dolphin needs to update for. Can anyone else try this out and confirm it for me?
I am thinking maybe I can uninstall dolphin, then reflash the update, but I am not sure if this will cause a problem, can I just reinstall and update on top of an update?
