Motorola Milestone :: Milestone Doesn't Take Permission To Connect To 3G Internet
Sep 8, 2010I just got a milestone yesterday, and I was fascinated by it. The only thing that kills me, is that it doesn't take permission to connect to the internet. I used to have a Nokia, which always had to take my permission first to connect to 3G internet network.
But with the milestone, it doesn't, and I get charged for every single 1kb used I just lost what is equivalent to $10 USD in the last 5 mins for just trying to open Google and download the SlideME app. is there some kind of hidden tasks that uses the internet or something ?
One more thing, today morning, I opened facebook after recharging my credit balance with 20 USD. And guess what ? They're all gone too for just opening the home page! if I have an active internet connection, how can I close it ?

May 1, 2010Is it possible to connect the Motorola milestone to the net via a pc?
I'm using a cable Internet connection on my pc. My router is connected to the pc using cables. However, since my router isn't wireless, my milestone cannot connect to the internet via wifi. Is it then possible to connect the milestone to the computer via usb and use the internet the computer is on, just like how the tethering works, but only the opposite?
1. My laptop doesn't have a wireless card
2. My laptop is connected to a non-wireless router which is then only connected to the modem
3. I'm running on windows 7
4. I have bluetooth both on my comp and phone

Mar 25, 2010After a wipe and upgrade to 2.1 I started having problems with my alarm clock. When I set the alarm to notify me at certain time it won't start at specified time. Sep 25, 2010since wednsday I can't use my mobile internet. I checked my APN settings and I didn't find anything which could make any problem. I just use Quick Settings and I used to switch sometimes between on/off in the mobile data. I don't know what's the problem...I even reset my phone and reinstall everything but the mobile internet doesn't work to me. when I tried to enable my mobile data on Quick Settings, for a second the 3G Icon appears on the top of the screen and then it disappears. it looks like something stopps my mobile internet working.

I tried total recall and phone recorder - didn't work. I know google voice have option to record incoming but not outgoing calls. May 10, 2010I was and I am so excited with my phone. How can I be happy with my phone if some of the basic features are not working properly? I am very frustrated with my phone not because of the bugs but because it really affected my life.
1. Alarm issue, Motorola wants the user to be searching in the forums to find a solution to a core function? I got to work late by 1 hour the first time this occurred.
2. Yesterday suddenly when I unlocked my phone there was nothing on the home screens, and I have the stock home application. I was going right left, and nothing was there!
3. The music player suddenly starts playing. I was in a meeting and suddenly the music player starts playing! What should I say to the other people? There's a bug in my Milestone and Motorola is just too lame to fix it.

Motorola Milestone :: 2.1 UK - Pattern Unlock No Longer Working
May 6, 2010Prior to upgrading to 2.1 (UK) today, I used the pattern unlock feature (a great feature) to unlock my phone. After the 2.1 u/g was complete the phone reverted back to the unlock slider + entering a password. So, I head to settings->location & security settings-> phone lock settings. Now the only option I can access is 'Change unlock password', which is fine, but unfortunately the 'use visible pattern' & 'use tactile feedback' options are greyed out....however they each have a green tick against each item which I've taken to assume means they're enabled! If it's enabled where do I enter the pattern?
While I'm here....if I look in applications, filtering on all, for some reason I have three 'Settings Storage' apps for various sizes....this doesn't sound right?

Jun 12, 2010My brother just bought a Milestone and he's having problems with the SD card (8gb). What happens is that he put some music on his phone, and with the program Ringdroid, began to cut some songs. Then, the phone began to crash, he restarted it. After restarting, the device didn't recognize the memory, saying "Blank sd card or unsupported system", occasionally rebooting, indicates that it was removed. I have looked in other threads and google it, but found nothing useful. I can't unmount or format it from the phone. And as I have the G1, I put my card (that works) on Milestone and got the same problem, so I think it's not the SD. I've already formatted it, nothing.

Oct 31, 2010The upload and the search buttons don't seem to be doing anything on the YouTube widget when it's on the home screen. When I actually open the program list and open the YouTube app, the buttons work from there, just not from the home screen widget.

Apr 8, 2010I'm sure I'm not the only one who, upon searching for a particular subject, gets frustrated with all the threads that are labeled with things like: A question about the Milestone" or "I'm really confused" or "New to the Milestone". It would be far more helpful if we could put some hint of the actual subject in the thread title more like: "Email not working" or " Error on sync" or " How can I see how much memory I have" etc. Saves a lot of useless clicking (and waiting) for threads that have nothing to do with what we are looking for.
I know we have a search option, but sometimes it's hard to come up with a word or phrase that gets us where we want to go.It's more fun to browse anyway. But, as the forum grows it begins to take a long time to get through a thread. It would be a lot faster without all the dead ends.
Motorola Milestone :: Motorola Milestone Voice Breaks While Speaker Phone Works Fine
Jan 20, 2010I am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.
Motorola Milestone : Milestone 2.1 Airplain Mode - Drains Battery Faster Than Charge
Jun 14, 2010Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?

Feb 2, 2010My Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.
But now, all these apps seems to be running (according to task manager):

Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)
