After a wipe and upgrade to 2.1 I started having problems with my alarm clock. When I set the alarm to notify me at certain time it won't start at specified time. Once I press the power button it starts sounding the alarm that was set. Any idea what could be going on? Currently I don't have any third party apps installed on my phone.

Anyway, what's the best way to minimize battery consumption while the alarm is set? I guess I'd set the airplane mode, to disable all data connections, but what's the best way to make sure that all other applications are closed, so that battery is preserved and that I'm awaken only by the alarm, and not by notifications from other apps? Is there something like a 'sleep' or 'minimal' mode which disables all apps? Or shall I close them one by one before going to sleep? Would I need to download a task manager for that?
I have a Milestone, it is not rooted, with home++ and without any task killer app. The alarm clock (the default one) now seems to only works about 70% of times (it is correctly set to every day) It is a serious issue for me. Do you have any idea of why does this happen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy phone is not rooted. When I select check for system updates, it does everything normally, I select install now, the installing icon appears, loads half way and reboots. When it starts up again, I get a pop-up saying that the update failed! I repeated this process a few times and I give up. Is there any other way to update my milestone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, go the update in the middle of the night and now have a slight problem. I use the phone as an alarm and this morning it would not shut off. I have the side buttons set to disarm the alarm and nothing. I had to turn the phone completely off and then re-boot to get the damn alarm to shut up. Now I can't get "what do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze" outta my head (ringtone from Hangover).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have milestone for 3 days good phone,camera performance surprised me expecting worse but...when i am making call display turns off and non of buttons work even i can hear ringing or person who i call then i have to slide phone slightly or fully to switch display-phone on.it wasn't working since the beginning but when i installed task manager it was working properly almost one day,next day again bad.the same story after hard reset.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsince wednsday I can't use my mobile internet. I checked my APN settings and I didn't find anything which could make any problem. I just use Quick Settings and I used to switch sometimes between on/off in the mobile data. I don't know what's the problem...I even reset my phone and reinstall everything but the mobile internet doesn't work to me. when I tried to enable my mobile data on Quick Settings, for a second the 3G Icon appears on the top of the screen and then it disappears. it looks like something stopps my mobile internet working.

I tried total recall and phone recorder - didn't work. I know google voice have option to record incoming but not outgoing calls. I heard somewhere that Milestone have this option disabled by hardware anyone knows if this is true? Anyway if anyone can recommended a tested working record app (pay or free I dont care at this point).

1. Alarm issue, Motorola wants the user to be searching in the forums to find a solution to a core function? I got to work late by 1 hour the first time this occurred.
2. Yesterday suddenly when I unlocked my phone there was nothing on the home screens, and I have the stock home application. I was going right left, and nothing was there!
3. The music player suddenly starts playing. I was in a meeting and suddenly the music player starts playing! What should I say to the other people? There's a bug in my Milestone and Motorola is just too lame to fix it.

Prior to upgrading to 2.1 (UK) today, I used the pattern unlock feature (a great feature) to unlock my phone. After the 2.1 u/g was complete the phone reverted back to the unlock slider + entering a password. So, I head to settings->location & security settings-> phone lock settings. Now the only option I can access is 'Change unlock password', which is fine, but unfortunately the 'use visible pattern' & 'use tactile feedback' options are greyed out....however they each have a green tick against each item which I've taken to assume means they're enabled! If it's enabled where do I enter the pattern?
While I'm here....if I look in applications, filtering on all, for some reason I have three 'Settings Storage' apps for various sizes....this doesn't sound right?
My milestone found a software update, but it is rooted, can i just update it with the root or do i have to unroot the phone first?

I don't consider myself an idiot, but I feel like one when searching for instructions on how to update to android 2.1. Tried googling the search term "how to update motorola milestone to android 2.1" (among many others) and got a page entitled Motorola Android Software Upgrade News with a table of countries and timelines. What happened to the good old copying of the same tutorial and posting it on your site and re-posting the same video tutorial on YouTube, which made it very easy to find? I found some SHOULS files and a video on YouTube of some guy doing a tutorial which I didn't fully understand. And of course there is also the risk of breaking your phone and since I just got it 2-3 weeks ago I'm still very careful with it. So please explain to me this mystical process or just give me some helpful links, I would REALLY appreciate it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedForce update Motorola Droid manually to Android 2.1 OS. I just happened to come across this while browsing for wallpapers. I'm not sure if it will work for GSM Milestones and I'm really not sure if it will get rid of 3g access. From what I read this isn't anything to do with rooting. It' just the OTA update repackaged to a zip file. Sorry I would try this but I'm not very good when it comes to this kind of stuff. I know I could get the update on to the phone, but if my 3g and other stuff stopped working I dunno how I would get back to Telus 2.01 as there's no way(as far as I know).

I decided to root the phone today and ended up in some constant re-boot loop where the android logo would appear then reset. I managed to get the phone working again after several hours of worry, but there still seems to be some issues. I would like to remove the 2.0.1 update and re-install it again from frest so that i can fully remove this root access and hopefully my problems.

I tried several alarm clocks on my droid, and they all seem to have a problem. if I set alarms for 6:30, 6:41, and 6:52 am. Each with a different sound. If i snooze alarm 1, alarm 2/3 never goes off. i thought all 3 would be seperate, but it seems only 1 can be active at a time. unless im doing something wrong. this happens on the default alarm clock and, better alarm clock.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Milestone on Telus with 2.1-update1.I'm using WPA at home and WPA2 Enterprise at work. Until recently, my WiFi was working perfectly. Then I noticed that I haven't connected to WiFi in some time so I tried and failed.Options > Scan doesn't do anything. It doesn't connect. It sits there doing nothing. And the WiFi networks don't have problems. I've tested them against an HTC Dream and a Magic. Both work fine. I tried the WiFi Manager app but it doesn't have any scan results. It just shows both - the work and home WiFis - in the list. Scanning doesn't change anything.I have restarted my phone multiple times with no results.I have rooted my phone using Easy Root hoping that would help. It didn't.Anyone experiencing similar problems? Any possible workarounds?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi bought a motorola milestone online thinking we werent getting it on canada anymore . which i think is UK version? so i accepted the fact that i had no 3G on it and was aware that the phone frequency and cariier frequency were different. so when i decided to root my phone according to: MILESTONE 2.1 update and root guide - Android @ MoDaCo
i didnt know which SBF file to pick the telus canada one where im from or UK where the build number was the same as mine and where i think my phone was from.. i couldnt unzip the gz file and it kept gicing me errors on the telus canada sbf file so decided on flashing the telus canada one. (and was hoping maybe my 3G would even work. everything ran smoothly and my phone was rooted but now i realize i have no signal on my phone at all. no text or voice calls.. just wifi. i did my research and people suggested that i put APN which i did but that didnt solve the problem also i read that for custom roms theres those 5 files File_Audio , File_Audio2 , File_GSM , File_Seem_Flex_Tables , generic_pds_init that i was suppose to copy and then replace after the root but i was stupid enough not to back up.. so now im stuck and i dont know what to do.. is there an sbf file i can use cant even restore to factory settings because i dont think itll change my firmware..
I downloaded MSU from motorola support pages, but when i try to install it I get an error message, error shot attached to the post. I tried googling it, but no help there. I tried changing it using 'msiexec /qb', but that didn't help either. My version is Motorola_Software_Update_01.11.84_PROD.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm not the only one who, upon searching for a particular subject, gets frustrated with all the threads that are labeled with things like: A question about the Milestone" or "I'm really confused" or "New to the Milestone". It would be far more helpful if we could put some hint of the actual subject in the thread title more like: "Email not working" or " Error on sync" or " How can I see how much memory I have" etc. Saves a lot of useless clicking (and waiting) for threads that have nothing to do with what we are looking for.
I know we have a search option, but sometimes it's hard to come up with a word or phrase that gets us where we want to go.It's more fun to browse anyway. But, as the forum grows it begins to take a long time to get through a thread. It would be a lot faster without all the dead ends.
