Motorola Milestone :: Gtalk - Gmail - Maps - Market - Email Using GPRS - EDGE On MileStone
Jun 10, 2010I am unable to use Gtalk, gmail, Maps, Market, Email (all pre installed) using GPRS/EDGE (Vodafone Live) on my Milestone. But All of these works with Wi-Fi connection. I installed Meeboo Messanger, this is also not working with GPRS/EDGE.
I called Motorola Customer care, they are saying that I have to take a DataPlan from Vodafone and should ask Vodafone to activate all GPRS/EDGE settings on my mobile. So I took a DataPlan (200 Rs. 100 MB), Vodafone People are saying that all available setting are already activated on my cell. But I am still unable to use any of them above. Every time no network connection found error is coming.
Motorola Milestone :: Way For SMS Sending / Edit Before Call?
Jan 4, 2010to send an sms, I click "messaging" then "New Message". But I have to enter my friend's phone number on the "to" box. But how if I wanted to find the number from 'contact'? I know I can go to 'contact' at the beginning instead of going to 'messaging'. But, in case if I am sending an SMS to multiple receipients? And how to forward a message to a third people?
Can Milestone 'edit before call'?

Nov 16, 2009How long does it take for you to receive the messages into g mail on your droid? it seems to be taking about 3-4 minutes for me which isn't terrible, i just thought it'd be quicker, I guess. what are you guys getting?

Jan 20, 2010I am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.
Motorola Milestone :: SMS Messages Are Sent Twice

I have questions as below:
Whenever I send SMS by Messaging tool and press 'enter' key (next to ., button on QWERTY virtual keyboard), the SMS will be sent out and sent twice. I am intending to input 'new line' character instead of sending it immediately.
I like to ask:
1. Is it a bug in Milestone?
2. How could I input multi-line message in the messaging window before submission?

May 14, 2010im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?

Jan 25, 2010Everything seems damn fast and it's so simple to set up. Only problem is that I have set up my work e-mail (which sits on a server and is a POP-3 account I think!...can you tell I'm not technical?!?!) using the in-built client on the phone, trouble is that it keeps crashing and has to do a force close on me pretty much every time. I've looked for this same topic in the forum but cant find anything which answers the issue. Is the next software release likely to fix this bug?

I have setup my Google Mail, Contact, and Calendar and everything works great until I try to delete a goggle mail from my phone. When I delete the msg from the phone, it deletes the msg from the g mail server. I DO NOT want this to happen. I have looked into g mail and the settings, along with the settings on the phone. I have also tried to create filters, and I still have the same results. Is it possible to only do a "one way" sync? I do not want to lose msgs off my g mail. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just missing something?

Sometimes the messages I get on my phone also come to my computer after I check them on the phone, and others do not. Feb 11, 2010I just noticed something that is quite annoying in the native gmail app. If you "reply" to an email, but change the address you are replying to, you lose the ability to see the original message of the thread on your Droid. Here is an example. A friend of mine, Jane, was organizing a ski trip and sent out and email to the 20 people that were going with the details (dates, addresses, prices, contact info, etc). I replied to the email, but changed the address to John's email, because he was going to be driving me and I didn't want to reply to all. John and I continued the thread with multiple messages back and forth to setup details of when we were leaving. In all versions of g mail (on both my desktop and my Droid), I see "Jane, Me, John (8) >> ski trip details..." for this thread. When I am in the browser version of g mail (either desktop or the Droid browser) I can click on the thread and see all 8 messages. However, in the native g mail app on the Droid, I click on the thread, see the last message, and behind that it only says "6 read messages" (there should be 7 more) and when I expand them, Jane's original message is the one missing. The thread comes up though when I search for Jane's email address or any of the text within Jane's original email. But I can't read it.

Both show up fine in my gmail inbox (as expected) on a browser, but if I use the gmail app on the Droid X, it only shows the most recent message. The two messages were received about 3 days apart, the content of the message is different, but the from address is the same and the subject line is similar (just a few #'s different).

I'm currently using GOSMS PRO, I'm able to backup my messages in either .dat or .xml format. I also use SMS Backup & Restore and it also backs up to .xml format.
I can open the .xml file in a text editor and can edit the message contents from there, but the date format doesn't make sense to me so I was wondering if there's an editor that's GUI friendly?
I also know about apps like Fake Text or SMS Faker etc, but I wanna edit the messages on PC as it's a lot easier and faster.
Motorola Milestone : Milestone 2.1 Airplain Mode - Drains Battery Faster Than Charge
Jun 14, 2010Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?

Feb 2, 2010My Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.
But now, all these apps seems to be running (according to task manager):

Email (ikke google mail)

Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)
