Motorola :: Can't Add Primary Gmail Account On Milestone With 2.1
Jul 22, 2010I'm trying to add the primary Gmail account to my new Milestone with 2.1.I tried all the three ways that requires you to add such account as a 1st step:
- Through the "Gmail" button.
- Through the "Market" button.
- Through "Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account > Google" And I tried both via WiFi and via 3G.

Jun 10, 2010I am unable to use Gtalk, gmail, Maps, Market, Email (all pre installed) using GPRS/EDGE (Vodafone Live) on my Milestone. But All of these works with Wi-Fi connection. I installed Meeboo Messanger, this is also not working with GPRS/EDGE.
I called Motorola Customer care, they are saying that I have to take a DataPlan from Vodafone and should ask Vodafone to activate all GPRS/EDGE settings on my mobile. So I took a DataPlan (200 Rs. 100 MB), Vodafone People are saying that all available setting are already activated on my cell. But I am still unable to use any of them above. Every time no network connection found error is coming.

Aug 19, 2010Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

May 22, 2010I finally installing 2.1 with all English menus.that worked in china.However I cant get my contacts and calendar to sync with google.The mail client works fine with no hitches.But I cant add the google account.when I enter in the full server name:

the next button is grayed out.the only way it will let me proceed is if I remove the https:// and then it try to connect.but it then says :" unable to open connection to server"Any help for what is more than likely an extraordinarily simple problem?
Motorola Milestone :: Contacts Disappeared - Cannot Add Google Account Back
Oct 23, 2010I have a UK Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1-update 1.
Yesterday all my contacts and my google accounts, to which they were synchronised, disappeared. Just like that, out of the blue.
I tried to add the google account again, but I keep getting a "can't establish reliable data connection" error. It is not a network access issue because internet and email (imap, not gmail) work fine, plus I tried with two different SIMs and with Wi-Fi, but to no avail.
I read about people deleting some files from their rooted Android and/or hard resetting their phones, but these fixes don't seem to always work and I'd rather try something else first.
I must say that, even though I like Android, I am getting very annoyed at how unreliable and buggy it has proven compared to my iphone and blackberry. Is it too much to ask to have a phone that doesn't reboot every other minute and that doesn't delete your contacts?

Jan 13, 2010Every time i tried setting up a secondary account, i get the " cannot establish a reliable network" and tells me to try again later. i am sure i have a data connection as i am able to go on the browser and everything.

Jan 4, 2010So yesterday, my GMail account totally crashed on me. I tried to log on from a computer and it says that my account has been disabled. I've sent e-mails to google and everything and I have yet to get anywhere. I'm extremely furious because my GMail account contains everything. There is no number to reach google at Tech Support or anything like that.
You would think that a company like Google would stand behind their products 110% and would have a tech support center to get issues resolved immediately. Nope, they don't. Only a stupid generated help area on the web that gets you nowhere. This is honestly making me want to get rid of this phone if I cannot get an answer...

Oct 30, 2010My mom wanted an Android phone and decided to go with the Droid X. She really likes the phone so far, even though there is a bit of a learning curve. The problem that is frustrating us both is that in order to sign into Google's Android Market place you must enter/confirm your gmail account. We enter her account information, which is 100% correct, and then it brings us to a captcha box. I've entered about 30 different captcha's and each time it starts to connect to Google's servers and then brings us right back to another captcha. There will be clear captcha's and I will be very careful I'm entering the correct characters and then it will still not work.Does anyone have a solution to this? Should I chalk this up as a server problem and wait and try it again tomorrow?I understand this isn't necessarily a Droid X issue as it is an Android 2.2 issue.

Aug 24, 2010I have wiped data and restored my apps twice with Titanium so far. It all works well, but two minor problems. First, every time I do it all of my previous call logs, and all of my previous handcent text messages also get reset. Is there a way I can restore all of these as well?
Also is there a way I can restore my non-gmail email account so I do not have to go through the whole set up of putting in the incoming and outgoing settings all over again. It isn't a huge deal, but it does get annoying redoing the path, the port and the security every single time.
I might just not be doing the correct restore as I only do the batch restore missing apps with data and not all apps with data, but I do not know for sure.

Jan 20, 2010I am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.

Oct 27, 2010i'm trying to add a 2nd gmail account through the gmail app. it goes through the entire process, goes to the sync page and allows me to select what i wish to sync up then gives me a confirmation that the account has been added but when i go to the gmail app and check accounts it still only lists the 1 original account. i've tried powering the phone off and restarting - also added the account via HTC email app and deleted the 2nd account via HTC email app just in case it was conflicting there

Jul 30, 2010I have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
