This is my first post on this forum. I am on the fence about getting the HTC Droid Incredible and the Droid X. It would be a lot more palatable if I there was an HTC Sense rom I could flash onto the Droid X. Is there anything of this sort in development or around?

This is more a question for those who have experience with rooted phones. For me, the biggest feature of Sense UI is how smooth it is in terms of transitions between screens, scrolling within things such as the Apps menu, etc. (couldn't really care less about the social networking integration).
Now, there are some homescreen apps out right now that are definitely (in my opinion) better in these regards than the standard Android UI, but they all still fall short of what Sense (or Rachael or even MotoBlur) has achieved.
Is this same smoothness, though, something that can be achieved if/when (since it really is just a matter of time) people figure out how to root the Droid and make custom ROMs?
Does anyone know if there is a dev working on any ROMs that include the new sense we are hearing about around the web now? I noticed it is supposed to have a number of new features compared to the old sense and would really be a great upgrade if someone did it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone rooted and got the root image to load and did all that fun stuff but now im trying to get the recovery and flash image and i cant get it to work. i think SDK is the issue. i go to the command prompt and type in what the guide says and it saying "error device not found" i even did the all in one install on the guide page and it comes up with the same message.... does anyone have the slightest idea of how to get this worked out. im running windows xp with service pack three.

I am asking this because I am actually one of a select few that actually likes the Sense UI; I just want to make sure that it isn't removed if I root my EVO.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wondering what actually happens with all the apps and widgets that come with Sense UI. I assume none of them will work anymore once the Desire is rooted? Or will they stay and still be useable? Can you download them somewhere again from HTC for example and install on a rooted device?
I heard of custom Roms that will let you root the device and still use some HTC apps. Is that correct or is there no such thing?
Finally, a question that might be a bit of speculation currently. With HTC introducing the new www.htcsense.com website with features such as SMS backup for life, contact editing, app shop, etc.... some of the stuff like the SMS backup sound very interesting but now I am wondering if these features will be available for rooted devices. Anybody has any ideas about that?
Would be kind of unfair if rooted devices could not use this HTC service.
Is there a way to flash these over to a sense rom? I'm using Skyraider with sense right now, I'm more interested in the dialer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAll the new features sites said Flash 10 was part of Driod 2.2. 2.2 was pushed to my phone overnight and I installed it. However when I go to the Adobe Flash showcase, it says I don't have flash installed. So I search the market place and do not see flash as a download. Is this just something that will come later? I really don't read up on Driod all the time so I don't know all the news, just a regular user.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have gotten both the Flash Player and Flash Lite APK's, and I have been trying to install them on the Droid. Flash Player refuses to install on stock 2.1. Flash Lite installs, but after install I can not connect to the internet (Nothing connects, Skype, market, random app, browser.)
So I wanted to know if anyone wanted to do some testing with them, to see if you can get them running on the ROM you are running. Maybe we will be able to make fun of iDevices earlier, because Droid Does what iDont

After you root its stated you can flash custom roms. Can someone go more in depth on this? Will Sense not work anymore once the phone is rooted? Any other points of interest that is worth noting?

View 49 Replies View RelatedI love my droid x but coming from an incredible Im a die hard T9 texter. I have tried better keyboard and everything else and handcent but they all dont have great T9 keyboards. I heard I can get the APK with the sense UI T9 keyboard on my X.
This would make my phone almost perfect anyone can help me? I would gladly pay $20 for such a thing.

Sense UI has been ported to the Moto Droid. I know some people could care less. But for me, I graduated to the Moto Droid from the HTC Eris and I really like Sense UI. I got a sprint HTC Hero but am very disappointed by it's speed (And I run only two widgets - bookmarks and weather!) - when I press the menu button the phone can take up to 3 seconds for the pulldown login screen to show up - super annoying. I'm loving Droid for the tech specs...but I love the sense UI is it possible to put the sense UI on the droid in theory? I have a few more days to return the hero and might if I could get this to work.
