Motorola Droid :: Dolphin Browser 1.2.99 APK File Needed (Market Place Broken)
Dec 6, 2009
Marketplace thinks I have this application installed, but won't let me uninstall it. Rumor is that re-installing the APK file will fix it, but there is none to be had on the web. Anyone have the APK file for dolphin? It needs to be 1.2.99 (or later) because the package name was changed in that version.

Is anyone else having trouble setting a default browser? I'm trying to set Dolphin as the default, but every single time I launch it, I get the dialog:
"Dolphin is not currently set as default browser. would you like to make it as default browser?
I click "OK", but if I kill the process, next time I launch, it asks me again. Also, if I check "Set as default browser" is the settings, that only lasts until the next time I open the settings (when it magically appears unchecked again). I believe I also had a very similar experience when I tried Browser and 1nternet.

I just got the latest update for Dolphin Browser. Seems like they made substantial changes. A quick test shows that it renders the nytimes and cnn websites faster than the native browser...so it appears to have sped up on my Droid. I'm wondering what others think of the new UI.

I've been having a weird problem lately. Whenever I open a webpage in the normal browser and click on a link, it opens up dolphin browser and opens the page in there. Any idea why? I'd like to continue using the normal browser and dolphin just as a backup.

Can you make the startup page load on default? Not the browser page, but the page with bookmarks, google pages etc?

I have the default home page for the app, and let's say for example I start to type facebook. Under where I type it comes up with the usual predictions, like facebook login, facebook news, etc. But the top one is usually a link to the exact URL (in this case to facebook) but whenever I click one of those links, I get a page that says:
"Server Error
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."
Is there anyway to get these links to work? Or get rid of them all together so I don't accidentally click them.

I'm trying to use Dolphin Browser to access Gmail but it gets stuck at about 1/6 of the wait loading mail.google.com and then goes to a white screen. I tried in the native browser and it works fine. I also tried this with Xscope and same thing as Dolphin browser occurs.

So everyone LOVES dolphin hd...the verdict is out for me...it runs very slow and sluggish..doesn't always feel clicks, doesn't always open bookmarks, and doesn't always recognize text fields. Now by always i mean 95% of the time.
My phone itself is running slow lately period. Launcherpro is maggy, widget locker acts up, swype doesn't always give me the red search dot, and other fun problems.
I am rooted with 2.2. No themes.

Just saw this in the Market Place. HEAT theme for the Dolphin browser supports pinch-zooming!
Initial tests show it works great..
My one gripe about the phone is solved.. all is well in the world again.

My husband's Droid was factory-reset by Verizon yesterday, and he lost all of his apps and also forgot his Google login for Marketplace. We set up a new account, but then realized that he can't get his apps back. I figured out his original login, but cannot figure out how to log him out so we can log him back in using his original account.

Dolphin has released their new version Dolphin Browser HDin the Android Market and it is designed for Android 2.0+. Team MGeek kept working over several months to have the new version of Dolphin Browser HD. This new version is blazing fast compare to the old versions, which is the best multi_touch for android browser and the best android browser support addons. I think it was inevitable that Dolphin Browser HD would lead to a new Browsing wave to shock and awe us with its release for the Android platform. There are a number of big improvements of Dolphin's next generation mobile web browser including lots of addons, gesture for URL, windowsflicking, best Multi_touch pinch zoom and etc. I'll cut to the chase. The new Dolphin sets the add_ons apart from the main program so that you could browse in a quicker way than the old version and other browsers. Let users make their own choices. Then, you could set up a series of custom gestures to control everything from navigating forward or backward to opening your bookmarks.
Anytime you want to perform one of those commands, you just touch the gesture symbol and draw in your lines. And the new is that the Gesture has been updated to represent the URL and you also can create a gesture from bookmark. Moreover, the interface for window flicking also allows you to view and manage all of your opened tabs without leaving your current webpage. Last but not the least, Dolphin Browser HD gets smoother and more responsive multi_touch pinch zoom and double tap zoom. You pinch your fingers together to zoom in, pinch them apart to zoom out.It couldn't be simpler. There are many other features I've not mentioned here for you to make comments, and more details for you to explore, those of you who are sick of the other Android browser can just go ahead and dip your fingers in bydownloading Dolphin HD straight from the Android Market.
Click here to download Dolphin Browser HD .

2 days ago, Dolphin Browser HD V2 pre-launched. Now they just hit the market. They have just released the news on their Facebook. Here is the official news:
Dolphin Browser HD 2 is coming to Android Market! We have been working hard on improving the performance and speed during the past month. It contains many extraordinary changes in user experience and significant enrichment in add-ons and extensions. However, all the powerful functions including multiple add-ons, multi-touch pinch zoom, gesture, tabbed browsing, bookmarks sorting are kept to meet our users need.
Apart from these, we concentrate on making Dolphin browser HD 2 blazing fast, providing more intuitive and innovative user experience, developing useful and more powerful add-ons like Ad-blocker, Password Manager, Screen Cut, etc. Hope you would like it and any feedbacks or suggestions are welcomed! We are always trying to meet your need. It is your supports that keep dolphin everlasting moving forward.
Highlights: Highly compatible with Froyo 2.2 (Flash Support)

I am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and then launches the market-place with its id.
When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch.
Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place.
MyApplication is my application.
CODE:..........
However, when I try to launch the market place for a package that exists in the market place say com.opera.mini.android, everything works. Log for this case:
CODE:..................

I have been using Opera Mini 5 for quite a while now. It seems to load pages several times faster than some of the more popular browsers, such as Dolphin. Why doesn't Opera Mini 5 get some love? Could it just have something to do with the cache? Maybe the more and more I go into the website, the faster it should load?

I've been using a nice widget called "Timeriffic". You can set up different notification profiles. 6:30 - 10:30pm I get all notifications. After 10:30pm I only get phone calls. Are you aware of a application that does this for email, wireless and other services as well? Was thinking it would be nice to set up a profile that stopped email polling at specific times to save battery life. I usually put the phone into airplane mode...but would like something automatic.
