I pre ordered the Incredible through Best Buy the other day.I asked them about Verizon's online discount of $100 and another $100 off with new every two discount. The sales rep did not know about the deal but said they would price match whatever Verizon had on their site.I'm hoping they will match it, the guy seemed really nice.Anyone else run into this?

I am a life long (so far but not for long!) WinMo user because up until now (2.2 release of Froyo) I have always assumed Android wasn't as elegant, capable, and smooth as Windows (YES, I WAS WRONG).So now that I'm ready to make the switch... does Android offer any service, through my Google log-in perhaps, to back up all my contacts to the cloud (with pictures and files as well, or is the data limited) I am with Verizon and have had this sluggish Touch Pro 2 for far too long, and have an annual upgrade I'm either going to put to use on with the Droid 2, or the X!

I am going to import the Droid/Milestone from UK to Denmark, but need to know if it is possible to type special characters like ï, ï and ï from the hardware keyboard and/or the softkeyboard. And does anyone know if it is possible to install a danish dictionary?

Swype is really great, BUT: Sometimes I need to write in a language other than English. I found this nearly impossible with swype. It keeps trying to force English words on me. There should be an easy way to prevent swype to offer English (or any) words altogether. I want to be able to use Swype so it takes whatever word I swyped (swope?) in. There should be an easily accessible toggle control to allow this.

Maybe its just my phone acting "special" but if I open the browser and allow Google to find my location (its my home page) then the browser will close while trying to find where I am.
If I stop it before it gets to that part and open a different page or just decline the website's ability to find my location then it will stay up and running without further issue.
Anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions? I've cleared all cache, cookies, etc etc. Maps works fine and finds my exact location so I'm just kinda uuhhhh not sure

Is there any browser I can use (hopefully the default one) that will prevent a specific site from being accessed? It's really only one site I need to have blocked on the phone, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

My work has free Wifi available for patients and whoever but you must first sign in on a main page it redirects to if your not already. Here to sign in you must accept a security certificate to be able to do this. It worked on my Droid the first day I did this and now I cannot get it to work, says it cannot redirect with no connection. Now this has happened before with my laptop and I just remove the certificate and it gets a new one and off I go. My question is where can I find these so I can delete it on the droid?

I'm debating whether to go with the Inc (shipped to my house on Friday) or the D-X. I so much want to choose the DX b/c of the larger screen but to be honest, it seems like the usability of the Inc is a a bit better (much closer to iPhone experience than D-X) as the scrolling b/w menus is much smoother than the D-X
Separately, I tried accessing the chicago tribune website on both phones - the DX only allows me to access the mobile version but the Inc allows me to access the full desktop version. When I tried clicking on desktop icon at the bottom of the Tribune website on the DX, it still points me to the mobile website. Any idea why this is the case?

I had tried using Dolphin and an disguise myself as the iPhone browser. It would bring up the video option, but when I tried to play, it would say the media was not supported!
It seems just yesterday they've added native support for Android. Now I can watch the highlight of the day, top 10s, etc all from their website.

The Moto Droid has a Arm Cortex A8 processor clocked at 550MHz and I have heard people say that this processor is so much better than the Omnia II's processor at 800mhz. Also that it could even match up with a 1ghz processor.
How is the above possible and what makes Droids processor so special?

I type a lot on my Milestone, and I'm really loving the keyboard. Though in Norwegian, we use "" "" and "" a lot and typing in Norwegian isn't that great. Quite a few common words use those letters frequently, and having to longpress A or O and then tap the screen isn't really practical..
Does anyone know if it could be possible to make another solution? Either double tap (aaeeoo) or longpress brings the letters directly.

I'm only able to get the mobile version. On the other hand, I am able to access the full site on the Incredible. Seems like the browser is more limited on the X. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Would hope there is a setting I could adjust to get the full browser experience.

Has anyone else noticed that the text on the mobile version of ESPN's website gets cut off on the Droid's browser? I feel like this is a relatively recent change, but I really couldn't say for sure.

I have been using the default browser on a droid X to access a website on my web-server for weeks but 3 days ago the website became unavailable (showing the "Web page not available" message). Every other domain on the internet seems to work just fine. I then found out that other websites hosted on my server could not load on the droid. I checked the Apache log files and determined that no inbound http connects were being received on my server.
So it seems like a connection was not being established between my droid X and my server using the default browser at all. Then I downloaded a Ping (icmp) app off the market and pinged my server IP and bang, a response. Then I pinged the domain name and received a quick response, meaning that both a connection was possible and that DNS was resolving correctly.
Remembering that Opera browsers use compression and route requests through their servers I thought this could bypass any gateway or proxy Verizon might have in place. The website loaded quickly and completely on the Opera Mini browser. I called Verizon technical support and got through (a bunch of ads) to a nice agent who could not identify any problems on his terminal. He helpfully navigated to my website on his droid X and it worked perfectly. I think he said that he was on the east coast so at least its working there. But there was nothing else he could do so...............

Is it possible to develop an Android app that would answer an incoming call and play a recorded message to the calling party without the phone ringing? For example, if a specific caller called during certain hours play a message asking them to call a different number during those hours.
In a similar vein, is it possible to intercept a call and if it is in a certain list of phone numbers divert it directly to voice mail without the phone ringing?
Thanks for any insights into this
