Motorola Droid :: Swipe Right Option Screen Not Working

As you know, when you boot up the droid, you get the option to swipe right and put the phone on "silent". However, once you set up your phone with a security pattern, the first screen to come up is the pattern screen, and then you no longer get the swipe right option screen. Is the only way then to go into sound settings and put the phone on silent the "long way"? Any way to get the silent swipe right screen to come up AFTER the pattern unlock screen?
Also, has anyone noticed that around the entire rectangle glass screen, there's a tiny groove on all 4 sides, which is starting to collect dust particles? I'm getting dust particles in these "tiny grooves" along the edges of the screen before you hit the metal. Yes, I do carry the Droid in a holster, and I'm pretty OCD about my equipment, so it isn't ME.

Update: According to posters below it doesn't work on their fascinate. You can control the screen brightness, by swiping right or left, up where the notification bar is. if it doesn't work, try turning off power saving mode. settings>sound and display>power saving mode uncheck

I want to buy an screen protector for the Droid, i usually get invisible shield for everything, but after reading few threads here, there has been couple of members on this forums unhappy with it. So those of you that have an screen protector on your droid, what are you using? r u happy with it? I have tried Wrapsol, and i ended up taking it off right away and going to return it back for an refund because after putting it on, i saw alot of haziness on the screen and it drove me nutz, i don't know if i should have waited for the next day to see if it goes away but it did not look right.

If there's an existing app that offers the same functionality as the default stock options that the hard buttons do.
I'd prefer on-screen icons to 'click' for the
MENU | HOME | BACK | SEARCH
selections that the hard-buttons offer. Do any of the home replacement apps do this? Again, I am not interested in reassigning what the buttons currently do, but looking for any on-screen options instead.

On non mobile versions of sites when you zoom in it doesn't lock with the screen size and adjust the text accordingly. Even if you select the fit to screen option. Or am I doing it wrong?

had the phone for 2 weeks now no problems, last night my battery was drained fully so i charged it fully. now swipe isnt working. when i press the swipe button (the option button at the bottom left) it freezes and force closes. tried rebooting and no luck. i can see the blue line when i swipe but no letters pop up
whats goin on?

Does anyone use the swipe gesture on the dock icons for Launcher Pro? If you don't know about it... long press an icon on your dock and you can program what you want the swipe gesture to do when you swipe up on the specified dock icon. I recently rediscovered it and am trying to find any good ideas of how I can utilize them. Also, it would be good to share with everyone else!

I hold down the power button. Nothing. Odder. Pop out the battery, replace battery, try to power up the phone. Nothing (seemingly). So now I'm getting worried. I realized that the screen was turning on, but the phone was not booting up (at least it didn't seem like it was...the phone is on silent so it may be, I don't really know). I could tell because there was a faint glow coming from the screen that, if I pulled out the battery, disappeared.
None of the buttons (home, back, etc.) light up or do anything. There is no haptic feedback or anything like that. I'm at a loss about what could have happened / what might be wrong. I'm guessing I'm going to need to get a replacement, but I'd figure I'd ask around here for any theories. As, if/when I do need to replace the phone, I have a couple questions.
1. I bought the phone at BestBuy. Do I go to BestBuy or Verizon for a replacement?
2. The phone is rooted. I'd rather not return it to the store in that condition, but I can't think of any way to unroot it without being able to do anything on the screen (I tried booting up into Recovery, didn't work). I haven't been home yet so I don't know if I can get it connected to the computer, but without debugging turned on I don't think I'll have much luck. Any thoughts?
3. I have a PhantomSkinz on the phone. I thought I read somewhere that the clear stick on cases (PhantomSkinz, Zagg, etc.) void the warranty. That may be complete BS, which I hope it is...can anyone confirm or deny?

"swipe to archive/delete in notifications" function in Gmail 4.3? Specifically, not being able to?
After upgrading to Gmail 4.3 on both of my devices (TF101 running Team EOS 4, and One S running LiquidSmooth 2.1), I had the ability to archive/delete from notifications. However, I noticed that this function was missing yesterday; it's gone back simply to "swipe to dismiss".
I've tried reinstalling, to no avail.

I downloaded a pattern lock widget and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to use it so I opened the widget and read the first screen or two to see what it was all about but I never set up a pattern on it - I decided that I didn't want the program. So I set my phone aside for a minute and the screen locked but when I hit the power button to turn the screen back on, the pattern lock screen was there, not the "slide to unlock" screen.
So I just ran my fingers in a random pattern (not even connecting dots - just a random swipe) and it let me right in, Okay, fine. Then I went and uninstalled the app and tried locking the screen to make sure it was gone. Sure enough, the pattern lock screen was there when I tried to unlock it. Again, I ran my fingers in a random swipe and it let me in. I tried pulling the battery and that didn't get rid of it.
So at this point, I seem to be stuck with a pattern lock screen to unlock my phone that is not set to any specific pattern...And I don't even have the app installed anymore! (It's not listed in the list of installed apps.) How do I get rid of it? I just want to go back to the stock "slide to unlock" screen.

Ever since I updated to Froyo I've had trouble dismissing the soft keyboard by swiping down - frequently getting two additional characters typed (the one where the swipe started and the one where my finger left the screen) instead of dismissing the keyboard.
I know I can hit the back button to dismiss the keyboard, but is anyone else having this problem, and is there a fix?

I'm experiencing a weird problem with my wi-fi. I usually piggy back off the wifi at the mcdonalds where I work, but today the wifi isn't letting me do anything. I can't even get to the splash screen to say I agree to the TOS in order to to agree to use it. I've tried everything. My droid says its a good signal and excellent connection... but I can't connect to it. I used my droid to surf the net a little at home before I left for work today, so I know it works, and a few people have come to the mcdonalds and used the wifi while I was here. So I know that works. Is there an app that can tell me what's going on or to test what the problem is?

Is there anyway to disable the initial swipe lock screen and replace with the pattern lock? Seems silly to have a double lock.....the pattern seems much better to me.

There have been some complaints floating around that the Emergency Call on the lock screen is not working. You click it and the screen just goes blank, anybody else seeing this. They better fix this fast, or there could be a potential Lawsuit in the making.

I've been looking up everywhere as to how to make apps, but everything i see is too complicated and i don't understand it. What i want to do is create a simple app that has a bunch of pages that you swipe to get to the next page, each page will just be a picture with a single button on it that links to some text. How would i go about doing this? (i have no programming experience)

I just replaced my Motorola Droid. Before when in the middle of a call or to hang up a call i just pull the phone away from my head and the screen would come on... or, i would have to use the power up button on the top of the device then swipe to unlock. Now in the middle of a call the power button is not working nor does the screen illuminate when i pull away from my head.

Swiping the screen to unlock and to answer calls makes this phone a two hander- which is annoying. Sure in the car with handsfree no problem but even walking having to use both hands is irritating. Is there an alternative?

I kept rejecting phone calls whilst pulling the desire from my pocket, so I have switch the lock screen using lockbot to a side swipe instead, this is working very well.However, now when i receive a call it jumps straight to an answer or decline screen which is just as easy to reject by mistake.Does anyone know a solution this problem? I suppose what im looking for is to have to unlock the phone before answering the call.

I am a big fan of Android and the Captivate. I've been addicted since day one.
That said, I'm noticing a lot of lag for a "high end" phone with such high specs. I have two news widgets, one weather, and a live wallpaper, and that's it. But I notice sometimes I push the power button and nothing happens for a while. I swipe the lock screen and it freezes for a second. Things take time to happen on this phone. I'm not even running my favorite launcher (Launcher Pro) because when I run it, the wallpaper would freeze for a few seconds at certain times.
When I remove the the widgets and use a static wallpaper, things vastly improve. But then it's as plain and boring as an iPhone!
The widgets I'm running: Battery Indicator, Weather Bug, Engadget, News Buzz.
The wallpaper is the galaxy live wallpaper that comes with the phone.
I mean I customize the phone with a couple of widgets and a live wallpaper and I try to show it to someone, and instead of awing and shocking them with its brilliance, it turns into a crappy PowerPoint slideshow.

Is there a way to swipe a text message notification on the lock screen to open that message like you could do in Jelly Bean? My messages show up, but when I swipe them, the lock screen slides over to a second page. I tried playing around with some of the lock screen settings, but couldn't figure anything out. Am I missing something completely obvious, or is this somehow not possible to do?
Brand new S4 received yesterday, stock OTA 4.4.2 pushed by Verizon about 5 minutes after my phone was activated.
After playing a bit more, I found that if I swipe to the second lock screen page, then back, if I tap on the message notification it will open, but tapping before that yields nothing.

I'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently.
Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?

I have put this as an option on one of my contacts and none of the calls are going straight to voicemail. For those who don't know, you can have a contact go straight to voicemail when they call. Its an option on the peoples app.

Today I plugged my Desire in to the USB socket, to top up the charge, and noticed the little USB icon/logo thing that usually shows up on the top left of the Desire's screen wasn't there. I checked in the phone's settings and it is still set to ask me what to do when I plug it in. I have tried a couple of leads (including the one HTC gave me) as well as both front and back USB ports. My PC is running windows 7 and it plays the chime when I plug my phone in.
It also appears in devices/printers but when I right click the phone and choose browse files it is greyed out! I have tried uninstalling the drivers etc, restarting the PC, I even tried to plug the phone into my netbook (running Ubuntu, which used to recognize the phone) but nothing works! It is not really the end of the world but I would like to sort it. The phone charges when I plug it in the USB socket on the PC. I suddenly thought 'I haven't rebooted the phone' so I did and all works as it should now.
