Motorola Droid :: Keep Update.zip Folder On Sd Card Or Delete It?
Apr 6, 2010I did the manual update to 2.1 on my Droid. I am wondering if now there is any reason to keep the update.zip folder on my sd card or I can delete it?

Is there a way to have the android 2.0 os put all the app created folders in its own version of a windows like Program File folder so its consolidated.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to create a icon on my Droid desktop pointing to a specific folder on my SD Card. I have a folder where I store all my movie videos that I would like quick access. The Gallery is much too slow having to search all my pictures and videos on my entire 16GB SD Card to populate and it doesn't even display the video name (its difficult to identify movies by the small thumbnail it displays). The best way to launch these currently I find is to traverse the directory tree using an explorer app, but I prefer a quicker method if possible.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI uploaded about 50 pictures from iPhoto (using a Mac) just to see what they looked like and then later formatted the Droid's SD card, so the pictures were no longer there.
Now, if I mount the Droid via USB and view the file structure there is a folder named /albumthumbs which contains 50 files, presumably for the 50 pictures a had on the SD card.
To me, these file, unless linking to actual photos stored on the SD card, take up extra space in the phone's memory (not worried about the SD card). I wonder if I can safely delete them (just the files...not the folder)?
I downloaded imusic and proceeded to download some songs.no problem there. However, I can't seem to figure out how to delete unwanted songs from the SD card. How is this done?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnybody else notice that the SD cards are write protected? If I take out my card and put it in a card reader on my laptop, I can add stuff to the card, but I can't delete anything. If I put it back in the phone and mount the sd card, I can edit the card how I want. weird?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got my Droid working perfect today, I was sooo happy. I am running Smoked Glass V5.0 overclocked at 900 mhz and loving it.
I decided to play with tethering. Got it going on my mac just great. I tapped the stop tethering and after Wifi Tethering shut off I pulled the usb cable without amounting, ohoh. I am usually so careful about this as my Mac get angry at me if I don't.
Now this is the only thing I can think of because then my beautiful widgets wouldn't work right stating it needs an sd card to operate.
Hmm, what's that all about I thought..yep went through the settings and the droid is not seeing it. Pulled and reinserted the sd card number of times. Soft reset a few and even Advanced restored from recently and still does not read it.
My Mac reads the card without a problem through a card reader. So I got this brainstorm to back it up, do a disk repair to see if that helps. No dice...
I erased the disc on the mac hoping the droid would see it and I could format it from in there, no go.
Finally I restored everything after formatting it on my mac and still it does not see it.
The droid just goes into a 3 time boot cycle then it says preparing the sd card, then it freezes and boots again finally to a working state. Of course without my sd card.
So I guess I ruined the sd card by pulling it without amounting? I have the insurance on this so I was thinking to Advance Restore to my status prior to rooting then walk in to Verizon and just say it stopped working.
Do I have to be more cautious and delete the smoked glass files from my sd card or just leave as is. I have everything backed up on my mac so I could just throw the restore file back on there if they replace the sd card for me or if I need to delete all those files to be safe and not jeopardize the warranty.Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
I can open gmail and then it goes back to the home screen, when I delete an app I suddenly get a notification that an app has an update (EVERY TIME I delete an app). My weather widget was reading 32 degrees all day yesterday and I noticed that the settings were changed to celcius. What really sucks is I am in the middle of buying a house and I email back and forth with the lender on my phone. Oh and the battery never got any better I can barely get 4hrs out of it. I really like the phone and I hate to return the darn thing.

Re-booted: a new sdcard was created. All my personal files have disappeared.how to recover the previous 'sdcard' folder?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm just now getting around to trying to add some custom notification sounds, and ring tones I've made myself.Problem is there are no set folders on my SD card for ring tones, notifications or photos like I've had on other phones in the past. So, can someone tell me what folders I should make to put things in their appropriate place and have them actually show up on the phone?I tried just dragging and dropping a few small mp3 files I want to use as notification sounds directly onto the SD card but that didn't work. I'm at a loss for what folders to add and name.

Is there a way to put these files in a secure/passwored folder on the SD card that the "Albums" or any other video/pic app can't access? Besides keeping my phone locked, I don't want someone accidently flicking through the photo album and stumble upon these. Also I noticed even switching the Wallpaper shows all the pics on the phone.
I have an idea of an app called "Stash" where you can move any files (maybe even contacts/texts) to a particular place on the SD card that the phone can not find.
one is clearly the folder for my actual sdcard (sdcard2) and the other (sdcard) seems to be where all my apps and downloads go. this creates an unreliability being that the phones sdcard folder isnt connected to my removable card and thus making backups useless.
View 8 Replies View RelatedLast night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:
1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?
When I delete emails for gmail on my phone, will they delete online also?
