Ever since verizon updated me to 2.2 i can't turn on my wifi. it wont let me add a network its dark. won't let me click it. Anybody know if its the update or if i did something stupid?

View 10 Replies View RelatedA girl at work spilled her drink of water by my phone and of course it got wet. I did the whole sit in rice for 3 days and hit it with a lite blow drying. After I turned it back on everything works perfect (can text and receive calls, ect) except the screen is so dark I can only see it (hologram type effect) in super bright light and tilted at an angel. And even then its barley visible. To my surprise yesterday the screen lit right up back to normal and I almost died, but by that night its back to dark. I have no insurance and have about 8 months left on my contract. I talked to some verizon people and the best scenarios for me would to be A) Buy another Droid X from like craigslist and switch everything over. Cheapest I seen in my area is $375 or B) Ad a line and get a new Droid X w/2 year contract for $200 and switch the info over and pay the data fee on the old one I cant use I'm not asking so much for help on those options, but more if anyone knows any tips to maybe fix the screen (if it is a screen problem and not hardware). It just sucks because it works perfect and it did come back on so I know (kinda) that it must be capable of doing it again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis may be just me or my combo of applications but, When I enter a number on the touchpad and press dial the screen goes dark and will not come back or accept input unless I put the phone to my face or otherwise cover the the light sensor. Even pressing the power button does not bring the screen back . I have forced the 2.1 update and have not noticed this behavior before. Not a big deal but is annoying if you dial a wrong number.

The screen wont turn on either when i open the slider takes a good minute and half till the screen becomes "awake". Is there a fix for this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDock for Moto Droid worked as advertised for a few hrs, then would go "dark" and touch buttons were flashing. Only thing that would stop the flashing was to press the power button. (but screen went blank again after hitting the return button)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am not a big fan of the stock Droid X lockscreen, however I do like the regular Vanilla Lockscreen. Over on XDA I found some dark vanilla lockscreen sliders and decided to mod them for my Droid X.
As of right now I haven't added a vibrate icon with the right slider. Sliding from right to left will either turn sound on, or turn on vibrate mode. Also they are only supported in portrait mode.
Also I am not responsible for any and all damage this may do to your phone/device, neither is wjddesigns.com.
For anyone who didn't see this already over at alldroid, there is a new ROM that I am using that is pretty sweet, its a 2.0.1 rom with 2.1 apps similar to that of the bugless beauty but it doesn't move the /system apps to /data and the notification bar is a dark transparent with white clock? home screen rotation works too. It is a very nice rom and I think very quick, as quick as the version .5 of the bugless one I was using. He is also coming out with a version with wifi tethering but said u can install it separately and it works. I haven't tested that out yet. All in all its a great rom and I am definitely sticking with this one because the theme applied is super slick!

The text in it I get when I get a text message is too dark to read, plus just want to try different themes. Any ideas on where to get these? View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got Motorola Milestone XT weeks ago, and when I first tried taking photos with it, the photos was normal. But after a few days, when I took a photo, the photo started looking dimmer than normal. It was really annoying, and I already tried these solutions:-
1:Turn off Wi-Fi
2:Turn off Wi-Fi then turn on camera - get darken camera then take a picture then view the dark photo then return to camera mode
I did consider complaining to motorola for this problem, so any more solutions?
Forgive me if someone else has asked this, but I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.I understand that the proximity/light sensor turns off the screen when the Eris is next to your ear to prevent "face dailing", etc. And, I understand the screen comes back on when the sensor senses light. Ok, that works fine.BUT, what do you do if you are using the phone in the dark? When I pull the phone away, the screen will not come back on because it does not sense light. For example, trying to delete a voicemail if you're using the phone in the dark. I've tried every button to re-activate the screen, and the only one that will work is the "End" key. And that obviously ends the call.

I can turn it back to portrait and it immediately re-appears. This only happens when I pick it up - It can be laying in the seat in LS mode and be perfectly visible, as soon as I pick it up, it goes dark. If this is a feature, what is the benefit?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...
This morning I noticed the phone wasn't getting 3g, and I had 1-2 bars at most. I couldn't make or receive any calls even though I did have a couple bars. Stopped at the Verizon store wondering if there was something going on with the network, and was told no. They played with the phone a bit, then dialed into the network to reprogram the phone into the system using *228 80.Is this common? Is this a possible phone issue or an account issue?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter updating basebands and flashing several ROMs I had noticed degradation in both reception and battery life. Since I was OC'd I chalked up my poorer battery life as a side effect to my love for speed. The new basebands were probably necessary for Froyo compatibility, but since my knowledge is limited in that area, I can't be sure. Either way, my reception suffered. During one of the times my signal dropped, I decided to look into my network settings and noticed under Mobile Network Settings/System select, that my phone was set to Automatic instead of Home only. After selecting Home only, my reception improved as well as my battery life. The better battery life I attribute to the phone not looking for a signal as often and am so much happier now that I've found this. Just thought I post my experience and see if anyone else has had similar results.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get the Neural Network LWP to work on my droid. I am using BB v.9 and I don't really like the nexus lwp as much as the neural one. I have the LiveWallpaper.apk (From bb v.5 I believe) that includes the neural network. I pushed to it /system/app and it seemed to work except when I tried to set the wallpaper it forced closed and showed a black image. Any idea on how I could get this LWP I really like it.

I was originally going to hold out til november/december time to wait for the LTE network and new 4G capable phones, but a friend informed me that the X will work on the LTE network w/o needing to upgrade to a new handset.
Is it possible to get the droid to work on another network and if so would changing roms or even loading a nandroid backup kill the flash that got it to work on the other network or is that info stored like the base band is and never changes unless you do want it to?
I know this is a shot in the dark but there is almost always someone on here that knows so I thought I would try.
I notice this more when Handcent/Chomp are installed but even without it seems that sometimes my phone just stops replicating. TXTS not gotten, emails not coming in emails not being sent (this is when I really notice it) Power cycle the phone and presto everything is back to working.
Example, I just restarted my phone and the email that was hanging was sent the very second it started back up then 51 emails came into my inbox
Anyone else have these issues? If not I think I'm gonna have to call VZW about another phone coming my way.
I did search the forums for this, but couldn't find anything helpful.Maybe I'm not using the right terminology.I have a rooted DX and I want to be able to connect to a share on my home network with Root Explorer. I can do this using the stock "Files" application by going to Shared Folders Add Server. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it with Root Explorer.The device I want to connect to (ReadyNAS Duo) supports CIFS and NFS, and I don't care which one of those I use if that helps.
