Even when I have a password or pattern ..the power button work..
I can edit any file in android system if required .

I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!

Found using these two apps from the market allows me to hardly ever have to use the power button (only for power off/on situations). Which is great because I know there has been reported issues of the button sinking in.

I have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Note II. When I have it in the side pocket of my pants I sometimes reboot the damn thing by crouching down. I listen to audio books when renovating my cabin (which is going to take a month or so more), and this has happened 4-5 times today! So I'd like to disable that button all together. It just has an idiotic placement on the phone. I prefered my old HD2, that had a power button on the front that actually took a bit of pusing. This thing is pressed by looking hard at it!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've hadf my kyocera rise through Virgin Mobile for a little over a year now and for the first time, I'm having an issue. My power/lock button has somehow become extremely sensitive to the point where it's a pain. I can slide my finger over the button to activate the lock/unlock sequence and after I press the button the power off option comes up. If I stick a needle under the button, it stops so I assume something is wedged in it. But No matter how often I clean it out with a needle, it continues to mess up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter having an IPhone 4s for two years i decided to switch to a galaxy s4 to see what it was like. My first touch screen device was a cheap rubbish MID rocketchip tablet running android 1.7. Every since then and seeing my friend using his HTC wildfire and how laggy it is in things like scrolling i always though iphone was better until i got the S4, realising that with the latest android scrolling was smooth (although can still be laggy at times but rarely) and with all its customization etc i don't like iphones as much as i did but don't completely dislike them just don't think i'd go back to one. That said i do miss some of the apps that i can't get on android.
Anyway whilst i love the galaxy s4 i found what you could say in a design flaw but it's also a good design at the same time. Samsung as positioned the lock/power button on the right side of the phone. Which ok is more natural when holding the phone and other phones are the same too but i've noticed a problem although it could just be me. Whenever i play a game or use any app in landscape mode i've found myself accidently pressing the lock button so i have to make sure that i haven't placed my finger on top of it as where it's placed is natural for my fingers to hold the phone in landscape mode. As i say might just be me that can't hold it properly. Anyway i was wondering if there is a way i could disable the power button in landscape mode so that if i press it, it won't do anything. I was thinking of using tasker but doesn't seem to be away to disable buttons.
I was searching online to see how to make a shortcut to toggle the 3G connection on and off without having to sift through multiple menus. I came across the method of having a long press on the power lock button to pull up the menu but mine does not show the network data on/off option and never has. It only shows
* Silent mode
* Airplane mode
* Power off
* Restart
Nothing else. Is there a way I can make a shortcut or some other way to ADD the network data on/off on this pull up menu from the power lock button? By the way why would my phone not have this option from the start when the phone came with Gingerbread and was updated to ICS 4.0.4? I have Sprint so they call this the Epic 4G Touch, so not sure if it was Sprint that buggered this from the other SGS2s that have this feature or not.

I would like the 2.0 slider on Bugless Beast, but can't find the instructions for it. I know they have the link on the Bugless Beast alldroid thread, but I dont know what to do with "-Patcher 2.0 Lock Screen with Vibrate Tweak". Should I run the file "update.zip" as reboot recovery over the rom?
I keep accidentally tapping the power button in the middle of a call which then hangs it up. Is there anyway to disable this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!

Long version: I'm fairly new to "devices". I got my first, a wifi-only Samsung tablet about 6 months ago and use it sporadically, mostly when traveling, but also it's become my semi-permanent music player at home. I got my first smart phone, a MotoX about 2 weeks ago. Love the MotoX and feel it's exceptionally well designed, easy to configure, and useful, but I have nothing to compare it to other than my wife's IPhone 5.
I have done a web search for this information. I have also searched and scanned around these forums, but didn't find anything I felt comfortable with in terms of how fussy or current the set up steps are or how current the app recommendations are. The two apps I've come across are, IIRC, called "Delayed Lock (trial or paid)" and "Unlock with WiFi".
My question is - today, mid-October 2013 - how do you recommend disabling screen lock while at certain locations. I imagine I'll be using it strictly at work or at home, both of which have wifi I connect to automatically. I might want to disable screen lock while driving, but so far have found my MotoX's Assist driving mode to work very well. I might get a Bluetooth device and at that point would probably want to disable the screen lock while that bluetooth device was connected.
My power/lock button no longer works. Phone hasn't been dropped, only had it for 3 days and it's been babied. I hoped pulling the battery and rebooting might help, but it didn't. In fact, after that the only way to get it to reboot was to plug it into my computer via USB.

There seems to be plenty of adequate little homescreen button apps to lock the screen. but they turn it off at the same time. I want the option for both. I already have one that turns the screen off, now I want a different one that just brings up the ICS default lock screen (the one that shows up just after turning the screen back on or at OS startup - if you set it to have lock security).
I'll put em in the icon group on the home screen.
It's cos sometimes I just need to lock the screen while carrying the phone for a short while [and don't want to touch something while grabbing it by the screen], then easily [without having to press the power button] unlock phone again to resume using it once I'm done carrying.

Received my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?
