My power/lock button no longer works. Phone hasn't been dropped, only had it for 3 days and it's been babied. I hoped pulling the battery and rebooting might help, but it didn't. In fact, after that the only way to get it to reboot was to plug it into my computer via USB.

Got caught in a torrential downpour this afternoon to find my wallet and phone somewhat damp after being in my soaking jeans.Power button no longer works so effectively once the screen saver kicks in I cant unlock it. Thankfully its still within warranty so will take it back to get a replacement.This is the 2nd phone I've had that has suffered this prob. My previous phone, a dreadful Sony Ericsson died a death.Avoiding the rain is somewhat unavoidable when you live in Scotland. MakingTaking a phonecall in the rain is sometimes a necessary evil. I really have to question the build quality of some of the modern phones. Do they even test the use of phones in the rain? It seems somewhat of a basic function, and to have such a major malfunction with such minimal exposure to rain is quite disappointing to say the least, especially when it never came into direct contact.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!
View 1 Replies View RelatedReceived my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?

I then went into the Google Mail application and can see its not showing any emails in the inbox and its not downloading any mail in "All items" either. Its only showing emails prior to the update. If I hit refresh it spins for a few moments and I see the data arrows indicate transfer but it doesnt refresh the inbox.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use to have an Iphone and finally upgraded to my Droid. But thing that i havent figured out how to work is Yahoo messenger to SMS to my droid.
On Iphone, if a friend on yahoo messenger SMS'ed me a text from within it i got it just fine as a txt msg and can reply back, but on the droid, when u send the sms messege, my droid doesnt get anything.
I tested with AIM and Live messenger and seemed to work but yahoo doesnt.
If anyone has a yahoo account and droid can u please test to see if it works for u?
Regular phone to phone sms works fine too.
I think everyone who upgraded should test this out right away. I was taking pictures last night with my flash, and I noticed that even though the LED comes on, it turns off again the instant before the shutter closes. This problem is reproducible 100% of the time, and happens whether the picture is taken with the shutter button or the new touch button. This has basically rendered the flash useless.

I tried searching for this but couldn't find a thread that discussed it. My power button appears as though its been jammed. I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.
I use the Motorola car dock currently and while it works great (using DockNothingness to prevent car mode from coming on, anyhow ), I'd like something that I can keep connected to the car charger all the time and just drop the Droid into. I have a charger plugged in and have the cable run up behind my dash to come out right behind the dock so I can just reach up and plug it in, but I'd rather not even have to do that. This way, between that and Bluetooth support in my head unit I can just drop the Droid in the dock and drive.
So I'm thinking a couple of things. Does anyone know of a car mount that works this way by default? If not, can anyone with the multimedia docking station tell me how tightly the Droid sits in that? I might just buy one and try to mount that in the car instead, but obviously it defeats the purpose if the Droid is going to go flying on every bump.
I've hadf my kyocera rise through Virgin Mobile for a little over a year now and for the first time, I'm having an issue. My power/lock button has somehow become extremely sensitive to the point where it's a pain. I can slide my finger over the button to activate the lock/unlock sequence and after I press the button the power off option comes up. If I stick a needle under the button, it stops so I assume something is wedged in it. But No matter how often I clean it out with a needle, it continues to mess up.

Example:
I took a bunch of pictures at an event, the created a folder for that event and moved the pictures into it. I can still open the pictures one at a tiem by navigsting too them, but the galleary app still shows the thumbs, but cannot find them.
Example 2:
I downloaded an mp3 for a ring tone, and while in the downloads folder the music player found it and I was able to set it at a ring tone. But I tried to create a ringtones folder, and then music could not find it, and just playing it by opening the file would not allow me to set a ring tone.
So how does this work? I have seen references here to folders called Media and ring tones, but I see nothing like that in the file system on my phone. Where does one put music if they want to actually use the music player?
Is the DCIM folder the ONLY one that works with the photo gallery? Is the Downloads folder the ONLY one that works with the music player?
I have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!

When I first got the phone it was all good up until a couple days ago when I noticed it. So should I call Tmo customer service to get a replacement or wait it out till it get worse.

My brand new Droid X will no longer power on. No amount of charging or button pushing will bring it back. I took it to Verizon and they could not figure anything out. It will take two weeks to get another one. They could not even give me a loaner phone in the meantime. Verizon customer service is horrible! Based of the performance of the service provider I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

I came across the method of having a long press on the power lock button to pull up the menu but mine does not show the network data on/off option and never has. It only shows
* Silent mode
* Airplane mode
* Power off
* Restart
Nothing else. Is there a way I can make a shortcut or some other way to ADD the network data on/off on this pull up menu from the power lock button? By the way why would my phone not have this option from the start when the phone came with Gingerbread and was updated to ICS 4.0.4? I have Sprint so they call this the Epic 4G Touch, so not sure if it was Sprint that buggered this from the other SGS2s that have this feature or not.
I just got my Droid but the power button seems to feel mushy clicky instead of how a button should feel with a proper click when engaging. What about you guys? Mine like mushy click feel but if I press dead center then its a near perfect less mushy click.
View 31 Replies View RelatedIm sending in my droid to verizon since my power button was not working and they sent me a replacement. Before I sent it in I wanted to remove root so I went into rom manager and chose a stock image to flash hoping it would do the job. Unfortunately, after I did it Superuser permission is still there. I would just use RSD Lite but since I cant get my phone to access the boot loader screen I cant get RSD Lite to recognize my phone. I was going to try to flash the older stock image from rom manager thinking maybe that would work but now when I try and flash any rom through rom manager I get this message; "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands". I also read that maybe quick boot would do the trick but it just force closes every time, making me think that maybe the phone isnt rooted but just has superuser permission listed(is that possible)? Is my phone still rooted?

Good thing that sliding the keyboard out wakes the screen so I can unlock it.I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem or is it possible this is just a defect and I should get a replacement also I have tried doing the factory reset to see if it was some app I may have installed causing the problem but its still not working.

All was good until today when I woke up and the power button didn't work.It was intermittently working this afternoon, and now it does nothing.I was ready to unroot the phone so I could take it back to Verizon when I realized that I can't get into the bootloader screen without the power button.I tried holding the D-pad up while reinstalling the battery and I also tried the camera and volume down buttons while reinstalling the battery.The battery removal and reinstall just doesn't seem to be working to put it into the bootloader screen.
