HTC Droid Eris :: Youtube Survey App Working / Not Working
Jan 7, 2010I know there have been other threads about the Youtube app no longer working (majority of the time), but it looks like it hasn't been commented on in awhile.SO, I really want to get this phone but won't until I know the bug is fixed.Can you Eris users let me know if your Youtube app is working or not working? (basically by not working I mean, almost every video you try to open you get a message saying: "Sorry, this video cannot be played")Also, does anyone have any logical ideas as to why not EVERY Eris user is affected by this bug?

Dec 24, 2009When I'm at home, my WiFi speed is typically almost 3m DOWN and 700k UP. (Lame compared to my speeds at work) While my 3G is typically about HALF of those speeds. But here's where my confusion sets in. When I watch a YouTube video with the stock YouTube app, videos buffer faster and/or play MUCH better when using 3G. I'm wondering if the 3G connection is utilizing some kind of compression that allows this?

Oct 31, 2010The upload and the search buttons don't seem to be doing anything on the YouTube widget when it's on the home screen. When I actually open the program list and open the YouTube app, the buttons work from there, just not from the home screen widget.

Dec 13, 2009Ever since my update I get a message that I the phone cannot play the video. Some play in low quality but when you try high quality it says it can't play it. I just go to the music category and most of the top videos I no longer can view. Did they change something with the update to prevent youtube videos from playing. A very low percentage play.
I'm using the youtube app on the menu.

Aug 3, 2010I can't play videos on YouTube. I have to sit there and click and click and click on them before they will play. "This video cannot be played" is displayed about 15 times before they will play. Before this upgrade, they played fine.

Aug 16, 2010I don't know if this is an issue with my phone or with the app but every time I try and play a video it shows the loading symbol, then the screen just goes black and my phone freezes for a minute or two. Jul 8, 2010I just read an article about the improved youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?

Aug 4, 2010I updated to froyo 2.2 yesterday and ever since the camera, camcorder and YouTube apps flash open for a second and immediately close. I called Sprint's tech support and the lady said that Sprint did not work the bugs out of it for their phones yet, and that I have to go to the store and have them completely wipe it. This is unacceptable because I literally have put thousands of things on my evo. Is there anything else that can be done?

Jul 22, 2010I just got a new HTC Evo and when I use the youtube app it just goes to a black screen like it is loading but doesn't do anything, but if I go to the browser and go to youtube it works. I can't use any of the soft keys at the bottom, I have to make the phone go to sleep then open it again. I'm guessing because of an incompatibility with the old Froyo version. Feb 19, 2010When I try to access my favorites and playlists, it's keeps asking me for my password telling me I entered the incorrect password or account information has changed. Nothing has changed. I am able to log onto Youtube on my pc with the same password, but can not on the Droid.
It was working just fine earlier in the evening, but I can't imagine what changed.
If I look under Accounts and Sync in the settings section, I see my gmail account and my youtube account. When I click REMOVE ACCOUNT under the youtube setting, it tells me I am going to erase all my messages and contacts. I thought I could reset the password this way, but I was concerned it was going to erase my gmail contacts as I don't have any youtube contacts and thus don't know what they are referencing.

Apr 12, 2010I got a HTC magic a couple of months ago and have had nothing but problems, first i discovered it wouldnt play youtube clips, it just comes up "this video cannot be played" for every clip.
HTC told me to update the ROM but my phone wouldnt detect HTC sync on my laptop (winxp) eventually they told me to force it into boot mode which worked and I've updated the ROM, but it still isnt playing youtube clips and I've trawled every android site I could find for a solution. But I did find alot of other people with android phones and the same problem.
I talked to HTC and they have apprently (after trying to solve this issue for at least a month and a half) reffered it to their head tech office in Thailand (Thailand? *shrug*) and they're working in conjunction with techs here in Australia and USA to figure out what the problem is, they say they will call me when they have a solution, when they do I'll post it here for all the others that have this same problem.
Also, has anyone else had the prob that after the ROM update, app's like 'rings extended' wont work, I've tried several app's like it and none work, just comes up 'rings extended could not be launched'. and in android systems it says there is no defaults set. I'm at a loss.
