View 7 Replies View RelatedDo I have to install market apps 1 by 1 every time I flash a ROM? I rooted to Sapphire 0.7.0 a couple of days ago and had to install market apps 1 by 1. Is there a way t back just those apps up and somehow restore them after flashing a ROM?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThere's a lot of instructions floating around for unrooting the droid and what makes the most sense to me is to let the phone handle factory reset thereby bringing the phone back to its original out of the box configuration. By reset I'm referring to booting with power+x vol up+camerra and choosing factory reset from the list. Can someone who's done the reset on a rooted phone confirm that SU permissions are gone after? Also, does the reset delete all apps, system settings and user data and bring the phone back to a true factory state (including going back to OS 2.0)?

Why I can't uninstall these applications (see the screenshot) that come with the firmware?
After I uninstalled them, but when I reboot the phone. These applications appear in the menu again. How come? This problem happened after I updated to Build 4.0.2.A.62 via Sony Ericsson PC Companion.
I wan't to uninstall applications using my application... I can retrieve the list of packages installed but I don't know how to remove them... I used the PackageManager class, getInstalledApplications() method... I can't find any method like removeApplication() or uninstallApplication().
the only method I saw in this class is the removePackageFromPreferred (String packageName) method... It retrieves a list of preferred packages.. I don't exactly know what preferred packages means or somehow how to retrieve them... I tried to put a package name in the method "removePackageFromPreferred (com.dev5.fivegame)" but it gives an error...
I'm not completely up to date with all the android features as I see a lot of you are as I mostly use the phone for basic multimedia on top of my phones services. I have recently noticed that although I use the advanced task killer to stop apps from running they still continuously turn themselves on and drain my battery. I can't keep watching my phone every second to "kill" them as they pop up. I was wondering if there is another way keep this from happening as there arn't any settings option in these individual apps to stop it or even better. An app to unistall "factory" apps such as MP3 store n so on.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI made a test app and installed it on my phone. This app kicks in everytime i get a incoming call and pops up something. I successfully installed this app on my phone and it seems to be working as desired. But i don't see it in the settings->applications list. How do i uninstall this app?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI successfully rooted the phone. My main reason (initially) is so I can delete some of the bloatware that came with it. I've looked through some of the threads that talk about how to uninstall some of this stuff, and I'm at a loss. Is there any way someone can explain how to uninstall bloatware applications in noobtard terms? I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance from your friendly neighborhood noob. For the record, I'm technically savvy, I've just never done this before and don't really know where to begin.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI asked this on XDA and no one has replied so far, so I'll give this a shot here. And I thought this was worthy of its own thread cuz I was pretty clueless on where to go.
Ok, so I deleted the following things from my phone using Titanium Backup.
- Korean and Danish keyboards
- Moxier Mail
- Face Recognition
- Creatouch
- User Guide + User Guide Client
- Play Now
- Setup Guide
- TrackID
- everything Timescape (8 files in total) *ok, this seems to have screwed up my camera photos and won't read my SD card pictures or the pictures I had taken (except for 2 photos in total). If anyone has the original 8 files and can hook them up PLUS TUTORIAL ON HOW TO REINSTALL THEM, then that would be AWESOME! For some odd reason, I backed the files in Ti Backup, but they aren't showing anymore...so a heads up for people backing the core default files, be careful what you delete. Or are they stored somewhere else that I'm unaware of?*
Also, I'm really looking to get rid of "Voice Dialer" and "Office Suite". Anyone know if removing it will screw up any function of the phone?
I tried installing "Black Hole Live" wallpaper from the PlayStore, it failed to install BUT left some sort of remnants in the "Apps Listing" that will not allow being uninstalled. It shows as 00B on all "storage" and is "Disabled". Being from IT, I like things clean and tiddy. This remnant refuses to uninstall, I've even looked everywhere it could reside using ES File Explorer, nothing. HOW do I get rid of this stinker??
Second: I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have to ask again if not. There are Apps that are put on the device from the factory, buried somewhere in the OS, that aren't "free" apps after a ridiculously short "Trial Period". I want to remove them, they're using up storage space and I don't use them. One in particular with an absurd 7 day free trial is PRESS READER. I want it off! I downloaded an Uninstaller called "Root Uninstaller APK", but it shows nothing that any other Uninstaller does and Press Reader is not shown.
Am I right to say that you cannot use an app like apps2sd to install apps on sd card without ROOT?
View 4 Replies View RelatedTo those who have rooted their Desire, this may sound a bit odd, but just humour me, rooting my phone, mainly because Im very paranoid about getting it wrong, and also it seems like a hell of a lot of fiddling for little gain. The only benefit I really want from rooting is to remove the dumbass demo apps Telstra installed. Is is possible to remove those apps on an un-rooted Desire? Would I be correct in saying that ADB could do it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new here and have not yet an android, as such, I have have a phew questions (actually quite a phew) so as to help me decide whether or not to purchase one. All help will be greatly appreciated. By the way this is all in regards to the hero, okay I'll get into it. 1. Okay the first is concerning to rooting and ROMs, as you all know the hero is well known for all its problems and hiccups (as evident by all the Qs on this forum regarding hero), e.g screen glitches and flickers, key board fails to register, no video play back on certain formats, problems with the social websites sync, computer sync issues, downloading apps, list keeps on going (see forum threads). My question is, if I were to root and get a custom ROM this would void my warranty which would be a problem if any any of the problems above (which are likely) were to occur, so what I want to know is if I root and do the ROM, is there any way I can 'uninstall' so to speak so as to not void my warranty? 2. I run a mac so will this pose any complications regarding syncing, or loading music etc? 3. I hear many problems in regards to the video playback formatting, I am unclear as to what this implies, does this refer to loading videos from your computer to the device? i just want to confirm that these problems do not refer to playback of videos that were actually taken with the phone.....

I read sometimes in comments of applications that people can't uninstall the app. Has anyone come across this issue before? I have yet to have this problem but should I steer clear of people complaining about apps not uninstalling?

I have version 0.35.3989 installed for Swype. Every time I try to uninstall it says "Uninstall not successful"
I am using Astro to uninstall this version of Swype.
I can install the beta one that they just released, but it then tells me a version of Swype is already installed.
Any idea how to uninstall this app?
Ok so I've got smoked glass 6.0.1 running great on my phone but I'm one of the many that are having problem with google maps. I opted to uninstall after installing the rom but I don't know how to do it. I've searched everywhere and they all say just go to manage apps and uninstall from there. I don't have the option to do it from there!...I then saw that you can try filtering and choosing one of the com.google......things that are listed but I don't have the one for maps. Lastly, I saw somewhere using adb shell does the job but I have NO IDEA how to do that.

Well after rooting with easy root I noticed it gives you some apps to check out now that your rooted...busy box being one of them...so I did it not knowing what it was.
Now I've realized I have no need for it but I know it installed itself into my bin and some other places I think...just wanting to know what is the proper way to get rid of all things busy box after running install?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently running UD8 with the Watermarked theme on top. I like the theme, but want to go back to the stock UD8, because I like LauncherPro and LP and Watermarked don't exactly match in design. Can I just re-install UD8 on top of what I already have without clearing data/cache, or should I do a complete data/cache wipe before re-installing UD8? Or is there another way to remove a theme that I don't know about?
