Motorola Droid :: Market Applications After Root And Flashing ROMs

Aug 6, 2010

Do I have to install market apps 1 by 1 every time I flash a ROM? I rooted to Sapphire 0.7.0 a couple of days ago and had to install market apps 1 by 1. Is there a way t back just those apps up and somehow restore them after flashing a ROM?

Samsung Behold 2 :: Flashing ROMs - Applications Always Disappear After Reboot

Oct 4, 2010

So I've had my Behold 2 for about 2 months now, and I've tried several different ROMs, but all of them have this same problem, apps always disappear after a reboot. Things such as google maps, navigation, places, springpad, dropbox, astrid tasks, handcent sms, even the android market sometimes is completely gone, not even in the apps list from settings. It only shows a white box with the green android, and when opened, it just says app not installed. If I reboot/pull battery some of the apps mix n' match for which ones to appear and not. After one reboot, dropbox will be gone, while on another springpad will be gone but dropbox is back.

So it's never the same. I'm currently using BHMAN's latest take5 ROM, and I've tried 1.6 no twiz, microhaxo's OTA 1.6 tweaked as well as bearsfan's all having similar results. Now when I first flashed a custom ROM, I used the unlockr's guide, and followed the rooting instructions there. Could it be that the rooted ROMs are interfering somehow with the already rooted phone? Is it possible to unroot the phone and flash back to stock 1.5 or 1.6? Then I would try flashing to one the latest ROMs.

HTC Eris :: Steps For Flashing New ROMs After Root?

Nov 12, 2010

So I rooted a few days ago using Universal 1 Click Method and flashed Xxtrasense ROM immediately (in step 4 of the instructions below).

Step 1) download and install this APK:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8699733/erisone010.apk - VERSION 0.1.0
Step 2) Run, read disclaimer, press button
Step 3) Reboot, once rebooted your phone should have Amon's recovery. Yay.
Step 4) Use the recovery to flash rootme.zip that is now on your SDCard, or the custom rom of your choice.
Step 5) Go into settings, and turn usb debugging on. After you have root, please uninstall this app.

I want to try new ROMs and have read through a number of threads but its only confused me more on the next steps. Questions are:
1. Do I need to do a NAND or NAND+ext backup (I've done a NAND back up shortly after flashing the Xtrasense ROM)?
2. Is Titanium Backup the only way to get my Apps and data transferred to any new ROMs I flash?
3. At what point is a dalvik wipe required?

If someone is able to provide a step-by-step outline (similar to jcase's 1-click eris root noted above).

Motorola Droid X :: Pictures Missing After Flashing ROMs

Oct 27, 2010

I have had no issues before, but now when I flashed the rubix focused 1.0 (from rubix 0.3) i have lost all but 20 camera pictures and all but 1 downloads. Even more odd is that when I restore to my backup the pictures show up but then they start to disappear. I connected my phone to my laptop and only the 20 pictures show up in the camera file, however, ALL of my pictures (camera, download, wallpapers, etc) show up in the thumbnail folder but the quality is not very good (obviously). does anyone have any idea how this happened and what I can do to get my pictures and videos back?

Motorola Droid :: Flashing Different ROMs - Kernals Onto Phone

Jul 25, 2010

I just put Froyo 2.2 on my Moto Droid using this ROM: http://androidforums.com/roms-droid/127966-rom-stable-android-2-2-frg01-clean-untouched-virgin.html

And I used the 800mHz kernal found here:

How To: Get Android 2.2 (Froyo) On Your Motorola Droid Right Now! | TheUnlockr

I am experiancing a few freezing problems and bad start ups, but I am assuming these kind of surprises come with flashing different ROMs/kernals onto your phone. I noticed, however, that occasionally my screen will get really "twitchy" e.g. when I press a key on the android on screen keyboard it types the letter 4 times. or when i drag the notifications bar down half way and keep my finger still i can see the bar twitch up and down rapidly. I have heard from several review sites that twitchiness and stuttering usually have to do with the processing, which made me think of the kernal change. Does this mean i picked a bad kernal or a bad speed? If i get this twitching does it mean get a faster kernal or a slower kernal?

Motorola Droid :: Flashing ROMs And Free Space (Nandroid Folder)

Feb 21, 2010

If you have been like me flashing and unflashing ROMs (sometime 3 or 4 times a day) keep and eye on your free space. My 16gb sd card was down to about 100mb (I do have lots of music and photos loaded up but a week ago I had almost 4 gigs free). I took a look in my Nandroid folder and there was the culprit. Every once in a while do a little house cleaning and clean out unneeded backups. I wish there was a way to name a Nandroid backup at the time of the backup to make it a little easier to sort out which is which. As new ROM releases come out (and I am drawn to try every one of them) it is amazing how fast you can fill your card.

Motorola Droid X :: Constant SBF - Applications After Flashing

Would you say it's a huge hassle to get back all of your apps after flashing? Im just curious to see what methods people use to shortcut their way back to the way they like their phones most. I would assume tibku would be your best friend here. But are there people out there who get a kick out of un/reinstalling all the time? I just wanna know how people do their thing with the SBF.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Root Access - No Custom Roms - Some Applications - Mainly WiFi Tether

I've got a Sprint Hero with Android 2.1 (.6 and not .5 as required for unrevoked). All I want is root access (no custom roms) for some applications (mainly WiFi tether). I'm a complete noob to rooting and what I gathered from the guides is that all data is erased. Is there any way (regardless of how complicated) such taht I don't lose any data/apps and just gain root access?

Motorola Droid X :: With Root Why Do We Need Custom Roms?

Aug 5, 2010

Please read this before you assume I'm an idiot Anyways, so my thinking is, we can root our Droid X. This gives us access to every system file. amirite? If that's the case, shouldn't it be possible to literally replace everything using some super user priviledged apk? I know linux well, and I know some android development stuff, but I don't know anything about custom roms (on android at least) and how efuse works, so I obviously could be completely off base here. The only hitch I see would be that while the phone is running, many many many of these files are likely in use. It just seems there would be some way to close everything (and I mean EVERYTHING), with the phone still running, and replace all system files with a new set.Now I'm not entirely savvy on how efuse works, and I'm even less sure on how changing the system this way would, from efuse's eyes, differ from a full custom rom flashing, and if, if it did work, you'd still be bricked on the next reboot.Thoughts? I mean it at least seems that we could find a way to replace motoBlur.

Motorola Droid :: Browsing Issues After Flashing Stock 2.2 W/ Root

Sep 1, 2010

Ever since I flashed a stock 2.2 rooted ROM from ROM Manager, I have been having some big time browsing issues.

Both my stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD are now terribly slow most of the time, despite being OC'ed to 1gHz and having plenty of signal. Both also have a hell of a time with scroll and pinch zoom gestures, often clicking links instead. Dolphin seems more troublesome in that regard though. Text entry is also terribly slow, again seemingly worse in Dolphin. And anytime I attempt to select text from a webpage to be copied to the clipboard, the stock browser crashes.

I've checked all my other apps, and none of them seem to have these problems. Text entry and scrolling are quick and responsive, and I've even FC'ed my other running programs to try to weed out a conflict.

And will the people be able to view them in my downloads?

Motorola Droid :: Factory Reset And Updates / Applications / Root

Jan 25, 2010

There's a lot of instructions floating around for unrooting the droid and what makes the most sense to me is to let the phone handle factory reset thereby bringing the phone back to its original out of the box configuration. By reset I'm referring to booting with power+x vol up+camerra and choosing factory reset from the list. Can someone who's done the reset on a rooted phone confirm that SU permissions are gone after? Also, does the reset delete all apps, system settings and user data and bring the phone back to a true factory state (including going back to OS 2.0)?

Motorola Droid :: Lost All Market Links To Free Applications - ROM Related?

Jun 16, 2010

Just wanted to share this in case others experience it...I've never seen this happen before on other ROMs (currently on BB Froyo v.2). No idea if it's the fault of the ROM, or some other quirk...this happened a full day after I had installed BB v.2 over my previous install of BB v.1.

I went into the Market/Downloads view a little while ago and found that none of my free installed apps were listed, just the paid ones. All the apps were still installed on my system, but all the market links apparently had been lost. I hadn't done anything today to change my setup or configuration, but for some reason my installed free apps had disappeared. I entered and exited the market a few times, nothing changed.

Went to Titanium and did a quick backup, just to make sure that I had all my apps. Then I tried to use Titanium's market fix feature, but it said there were no market links to fix. Remembering some advice in Titanium Backup that says when restored market links aren't showing up after a restore (which I hadn't done), if you simply download and install one app from the Market it will refresh the links...I did so, and all my free installed apps showed up again in the Market/Download screen.

Motorola Droid X :: Root Causes DATA / Market / Gmail Won't Work?

Nov 27, 2010

AGAIN, my DX doesn't work. I can't access the Market, Internet, Facebook, Maps, etc. It says I have "no connection" or "cant fetch data" and so on. This happened to me when I rooted using the "Z4Root" method. When that happened I used RSDLite and flashed the Stock 2.2. SBF file back to stock, so I could start fresh and root again. Roooler from DF helped me root again using the "RootMyX2" method. Everything went fine, I was able to root, overclock, remove apps, etc. I made a backup before I did anything. Tonight, all of a sudden Google Voice wouldn't work for me, every time I pressed the button it said "no audio" when I tried to talk. I figured what the hell, I would just restore my backup, haven't tried it yet to see if it works, the restore went fine. When I got my phone up and running the SAME PROBLEMS started again. I can't use the Internet, Gmail and Market says "no connection", etc. I made sure GPS and DATA are on in the Power Widget.
I really need to figure out why this keeps happening. This is the second root method I've tried and still get these problems. I need someone, anyone to HELP! LOL, this is getting ridiculous.
