When you place your Droid in the dock, the dock home screen automatically appears. I noticed recently that when I sit my Droid on top of my iHome (yes, I have an iPod), the dock home screen appears as if I had just placed it into my dock. For some reason or another, the iHome is forcing my Droid into dock mode. Any ideas as to why this happens? Also, can anyone reproduce this?

To start, I'll say I've done much searching on my question, both on this forum and others. Plus, I've searched AppBrain using many parameters to no avail.So, that little disclaimer out of the way....I have a DX. My last device was the original Droid. After the upgrade to Froyo on my original Droid, I noticed two really cool and, for me, useful dock functions that do not work with the Froyo upgrade on my DX. Original Droid (w/Froyo): When I would put the Droid in the car dock, there was a nice little icon that said EXIT. Meaning it would go out of car dock completely when you touched it. Even the icon in the top bar would go away. Also, when I hit the home button, say out of Navigation, it would take me to my regular home, vice back to the car dock home. I LOVED this, as I dislike and do not use the car dock mode ever. This icon is non-existent on the Froyo car dock mode on my DX. Next. Again, original Droid (w/Froyo. and I state this because with Eclair, these functions were not there): When plugged in for the night, I would touch my Retro Clock app widget, and (I don't know why, it just did) it would launch the Home Dock screen. (with weather, music icon, etc...) Now this I LOVED also, as I could set my alarm, check the weather where I was at, and even get some news headlines before going to sleep. Plus, it would then go into screen saver mode, dimming the screen nicely. I would like very much to get this kind of functionality back in both instances. Does anyone have any ideas for apps that would kill the car dock mode completely, either permanently, or at least every time I put it in the car dock?And is there some way to launch the home dock mode while in the car dock?I am a truck driver, and the car dock is where I put my X to charge at night.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSorry if this is a stupid question, I just can't figure it out. I am running BBv0.9. I did a total data wipe, so I have been resetting my apps and settings. Last night when I plugged my Droid into my multimedia dock it of course gave me the option to choose "Clock" or "Mulitmedia" for display on the dock. Well, since I like the Mulitmedia look, I checked "Set as default" and chose Multimedia. Well apparently that option doesnt play nice with this ROM. All options (alarm, weather, music, etc) give me an instant FC message! My question is how do I "uncheck" that from being my default dock display? I have gone in to Manage Applications, Running Services...no options to change default setting.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI bought the car dock and it has served me well thus-far, but I don't really see a reason to plunk down the cash on the home dock. It's nice, but I don't want to buy it right now. However, I do very much like the display that appears when it is docked. I can't find a way to launch this without the dock itself, and I'm certain there has to be a way. What am I missing?
View 10 Replies View RelatedStarting today, when I dock my phone into my multimedia dock, it automatically goes into USB connect mode. I myself have not manually made this change nor install any software that knowingly does this. What I did install yesterday was WinAmp beta, YouTube from market (although everytime I look at my downloads, youtube still says its downloading) ADW Theme found yesterday on DroidLife (which was a waste).

anyone have a dock like me and when you try to push app icons or enter calendar info or try to type, the Droid wigs out? You push here but the app 2 apps over highlights or opens. Try to long press on the Calendar to do an input and the page just jiggles back and fourth like it cannot decide what your doing? Use your finger to flick to another home screen, and instead, it triggers the app shelf to open.

I have been thinking about making a custom dock out of woven carbon fiber (or woven black glass) for a while now, for a truly high-tech, stealth look and was wondering if anyone else might be interested in this as well.The set-up and making the mold will be the initial time and monetary investment, but if anyone else is interested then it might be worthwhile. I would love to share my ideal, cutting edge, dock with you, and I am very interested in if anyone else would be interested in buying this kind of dock in the near future.
I am still in the concept phase now and my vision is an "airfoil" shaped base with a magnetic back support and solid mounted USB connection. Please let me know if you are interested in this concept, or if you have any other ideas or suggestions. If the interest is there, I will definitely fabricate and offer this design to those who are also interested.
Has anyone tried using the Droid, or any Android based phone, with the Bluetooth enabled XLink or Dock-n-Talk devices that provide a gateway between your cell phone and your old copper wiring based home phones?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt isn't easy to summarize the problem in the title.So in 1.5 or 2.1 v1 or v2, it was very rare for the Sense UI Home app to have to re-launch.By this I mean when you click the home or back button to return to your Home screen, instead of seeing the home screen you see the black screen with HTC on it, then you wait while it loads the Home application.This very rarley happened before v1.3. Now it seems to happen at least once or twice a day.I don't have more apps installed than I did before, I shouldn't be any more out of memery than I was before.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought the car dock and I do not like it. I wish you could just set the phone in the car dock and have it charge without plugging in the charging cable separately. Would it be possible to use the multimedia dock as a car dock? It seems like the only difference is the polarity of the magnet. Can that easily be reversed (cut out and turned around)? I already have an adapter to plug the USB cable into. 3M makes a great double-sided automobile tape that would hold the dock to the dashboard. Anyone with a multimedia dock willing to try it out and report back?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are two parts, the circular disc that sticks to the glass and then the actual holder which suctions against the disc. Do y'all leave the holder attached at all times? Even when you get out of the car? Or do you take it on and off as you use it? I'm just wondering how secure that disc is to the glass.

View 13 Replies View RelatedOK, so there's not too much customizing you can do with the desk dock screen.There are only 12 icon positions spread out over 3 screens.But what have you done to get it like you like it?I've just got my Calender, Sound Hound (in case I hear something on the TV or radio I want to tag), my Music, and my Photos slide show.If I wanna make a call or check the weather, it's here. The "All lables" folder is Apps Organizer where I can access all of my apps and games without leaving the dock screen for the landscape home screen.My internet screen where I can toggle WiFi, check e-mail, browse, or watch YouTube videos.
