I absolutely love swype. However most of the world doesn't know what swype is and hasn't used it. So they have no clue that typos are now entire words and not just letters. Leads to some hilarious yet awkward messages. Example: my friend asked me if I knew so and so. My reply was supposed to be yeah but it came out trash. Guess I need to slow down and proof read a bit more.

Is there a way to delete words from the swype dictionary? I can add words just fine. For the life of me I can not figure out how to delete words.

All I did was shut my phone off and turn it back on and now it seems like it doesn't track my finger frequently enough to do double letters anymore... anyone else have this problem? View 2 Replies View RelatedI know that to delete words I've manually input into Swype is simply to highlight, hit the swype button and delete, but what about words that come in the Swype dictionary? For instance, I often mistakenly put in the word "Urea" when I want to say, "Yea." I don't see myself every needing the word "Urea," so I want to delete it from the Swype dictionary, but I can't seem to figure it out because it's not a word I made Swype learn, it's a word that came with Swype. Any way to fix this?

At first I thought it was just a user error, but over the last few weeks it's been getting more and more apparent. e.g. While trying to type "inside" it will instead type "inside" or instead of "tomorrow" it will type "tomorrow".
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm about to buy a Motorola Droid in five hours after much consideration and reading through forums. However, one question that has addressed me is whether or not the Droid has foreign language support, specifically Korean. I want to listen to some songs with Korean titles, but I'm not sure whether or not the Droid can display Korean letters in its music app. I've heard from previous Android users that 1.5 has difficulties displaying unicode letters and just makes them boxes, similar to the old Zunes (Lol fail player) which cannot support any Asian languages. Anybody have any experience with this?
ALSO regarding the Droid Eris. Is the on screen keyboard similar to the apple iPhone's (Response time, Sensitivity) or rather similar to the LG Dare (I despise this type of keyboard, slow, vibrate very uncoordinated). And since its running android 1.5 not 2.0, does this have problems with korean too?
I've had my Droid since June of 2010 and up until a few days ago the keys have started to stick. Pretty much when I press down on them they stick for a split second and spring back up making a click noise each time I click on certain keys (Almost all of them). Not many of the keys are giving me double letters when I type due to this but some are. I called Verizon about it they want to troubleshoot the issue and I have no problem with doing that, I just will do it later at home since I am out now. So what do you guys think..? Should I replace it or keep using it some more see if the sticking stops? I really REALLY hate to replace my Droid seeing as it's new fresh out of the box and I've had no other problems with it.

Mine heads in the right direction for about 270 degrees (rotating the phone) and the other 90 it is off by about 30 degrees. I have checked out 4 or 5 others in stores since launch day and they behave exactly the same. I also see this behavior using street view.

I have to upper case the letters then type "I", then switch to the symbols and type ', then back to the letters to type "ll". This just seems way to much for a little word. My BB Tour would recognize so much easier. If there is no easy way to type it, wonder if Froyo will fix it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt sucks that you can't delete words that are in the Dictionary. I get so annoyed when I am typing out a word and it puts a totally different word in place. You ever type out one of the days of the week? It ALWAYS puts a (s) at the end! For example I want to say I am having a Super bowl party on Sunday and it will put Sundays. Another thing that drives me crazy I could say "Maybe I will come over later" and it says "Maybe I Will come over later" Why does WILL have to be spelled like a name in this instance? I add lower case "will" to my dictionary but it still reverts back to the other one when I am typing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated to 2.1, my phone decides to add the capitalized versions of words such as "you" "just" "should" "we" so I'll be in the middle of a text and suddenly the first letters are capitalizing. It happens often enough to irritate me. I have tried to delete them from the dictionary several times, but they just keep coming back even if I don't use any capitalized versions at all. Is there ANY fix at all for this??

It mainly adds capitalized versions of words. for example when I'm in the middle of a sentence it says "You" instead of "you" etc. I delete it, but it keeps coming back. Any way to permanently stop this from happening?

Also, the green/amber light doesn't come on when I'm charging my phone. Been trying to get a replacement from verizon but all the refurbished phones they've sent me have been worse off, eg. horrible connectivity, overheating, etc.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just switched from the HTC eris to the Droid and had no issues with IMAP on the eris which is running 1.5 OS. What's happening is I setup my personal domain email as imap and all works. I mark all messages in the inbox as read. When new email comes in it marks the entire inbox as new. I've deleted the account multiple times and done a hard reset. I even tested this in the store on 2 phones.
Moto doesn't have an answer and I found this thread on the VZ forums Droid IMAP emails always Unread - Verizon | Forums and Blogs - Verizon Community which the OP is using the same hosting company as I am. I've never had a problem on a WinMo, BB or iPhone setting it up the same way. Something seems off but not sure what it is. I've setup GMail via the same mail app and that's working.
I don't know if this is an android problem or more device related. All I know for certain is that its one giant headache. I thought it was just a matter of getting used to a different keyboard feel and figured I'd give it a while.
But its been several weeks now and its still Many times if its just a minor typo I'll just leave it rather than go through the torture of editing it.
The main problem is that it cannot be placed with precision. If you try it just jumps around from back to forth and line to line.
I know I'm used to the way it works on iPhone where you can get it approx near where you want it and them just press down firmly to move it to the precise place you want it.
Its impossible for me to do that with this cursor so I have to keep taking multiple stabs at it and hope for the best. I have pretty small hands and fingers and am obviously quite used to online keyboatds. But this thing is driving me nuts.
Am I the only one with this problem? Or is there just some little trick or technique of which I'm totally I the dark about?
Anybody else like the leaked version better? Seems like it worked better if my memory is correct

I double checked Motorola's website and it advertises the Droid 2 with swype pre-installed. Did I just get stiffed? Or do I need to find an apk somewhere to get swype?

My eris for some reason changes pages and slides on its own when im not touching it. and when i hold the phone its gets worse. How can i fix this? Another thing. When im typing sometimes the thing that says were the letters go moves and my words look all messed up. Example: im typing the word mississippi.. and halfway Threw the word it moves making it look like this --> sippimissis.. i dont eventouch that part of the screen.. one last thing.. when im ussing the internet on. my eris sometimes the phone clicks things randomly. It presses random buttons by its self :/ seems to me theres a senor/ touch problem. How can i fix all this?
