Motorola Droid X :: File System / File Size Max
Sep 12, 2010Does the X use a FAT32 file system? Is there any way to change this? I'm asking because I have a 4+GB mkv file I want to put on it, but I'm getting a message telling me its too large for the file system. If no way to change, then can anyone suggest a way to make this file small enough to fit?

May 8, 2010I want to return my phone to stock, but I want it to be 2.1, not 2.0.1. I have to send this one back to Verizon and I want it to look like I've been doing things the "right" way. This particular phone has some touchscreen issues. I already have my new replacement phone. I want to get the old phone up to 2.1, but I can't activate it without deactivating my new phone, right?
I found the sbf for 2.0.1 non-root. Is there a non-root version of 2.1 available somewhere?

Dec 4, 2009Why does the phone say PAIRED BUT NOT CONNECTED? How do i connect it to the other phone. To be more specific the other phone is the ERIS. So is it even possible to send songs, pics, etc to other phones from the DROID? And can the ERIS even accept bluetooth file transfers?

Well after I longpressed the su file and selected move, I went back to /system/xbin to paste it. I selected paste and it told me that I "Cannot paste here because the file system is read only." What? Nov 7, 2009Emailed myself an excel file. I have already installed Shead Spreet Pro (excel editor). After I opened up the email in gmail, I previewed the excel file (wouldn't/couldn't use Shead Spreet) but could not download it to the phone.
The more I use this phone the more I feel helpless using gmail.
You can't search all gmail accounts at once...etc...etc.
You have to so many gmail limitation, I can't believe how much better my Blackberry took care of gmail.

The last rom i used was apex and i was able to use the terminal to push it but the terminals on the app market wont do it. Do i need to change permissions so it will show up in my app drawer?

However, I wanted to save the file to the SD card. So, I searched this and another forum on how to do that and the only way I could find was to access my gmail account through the browser and download. (Even though the download manager through Amazon says everything id fine)When I open my music player, I cannot find the third song. The problem is that these downloaded songs are sometimes misspelled, mislabled, the genre & other info isn't filled in at all, and or the album info is missing or incorrect.The result with a great audio player app like "3" (my favorite so far) is that I might have 35 Tom Petty songs, but because album info is missing on so many of them, the app has them dispersed among 22 different albums! Very annoying. (This happened after telling "3" to search for album art.) Then there's the "Unknown Atrist" catagory where I'll no doubt find another stray TP song, etc.What I'm looking for is another app that gives me a GUI that allows me to edit all of the tag data for music files in my library. Preferably it should have a search function so that I could type in "Tom Petty", for example, and all songs by him would come up so I could comb through and edit data for each one I choose,

Jul 25, 2010I've been messing around with my Droid and I stumbled upon the Files app which lets you add a server. Is this for FTP servers or like a local computer connected to Wi-Fi? I have an FTP server I'd like to connect but it says it cannot be reached, even though I'm 100% sure the details are correct.
And another thing: what is the best File Manager/Explorer app? I found like a dozen of them and honestly, I don't feel like installing them all to find out which one is the best.

Feb 25, 2010This file was on Sholes.info. But with its demise, so is the file. I rooted my phone but accidentally deleted this file. Anyone got a copy? It should still be on your SD card if you rooted your phone.

So I'm guessing that the changes I made in the build.prop file are stopping the update...I put the original back, but notice the file date is different (Yestedays date) than what the original should be...
Wondering if I can extract the original build.prop file from the SBF and put that down without doing the whole reflash...
If not, anyone have a stock 2.1 build.prop file they can Email me so I dont have to SBF and loose everything I have setup now?
