Which is best to get as far as sound and call quality? The Headset that plugs in the charger port or the one that plugs in the 3.5mm jack on top. Any suggestions on brands? I will be using the mic, so just any headset won't work.

I'm planning to get a Bluetooth headset for use with my Eris. I don't really have any experience with a headset so I have a question about how it works:
I would like to leave the headset powered on and when I receive a call, either answer it from the headset or from the Eris depending on where I am/what I'm doing etc. Is this possible? Or if the headset is on will I always have to answer the call from there? I believe that I've heard that this is the way headsets work but I was hoping that I might be able to choose my answer "mode".
So since the recent update, I noticed that the call audio quality is MUCH better than it was before. Everything sounds more clear and detailed than it used to, and even my girlfriend said that she can hear me more clearly than before. I believe improved audio was on the list of things addressed by the update.

My wife keeps on saying that when she calls me that my voice is very echoy. is this a common issue w/ the Droid, or is there something I need to try to do to possibly fix this issue. Other then this, the phone is great, but because I live off my bluetooth headset this is a big issue for me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWent for a jog this morning and had earphones plugged in, when I finished jogging I removed the earphones and the phone still says they are plugged in. No rain or moisture involved. I have pulled the battery and restarted with no improvement. Any ideas or suggestions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
I am a new SE user and am still getting to grips with using the phone's features. Could anyone advise how to transfer a call from a headset back to the phone and phone to headset? Whilst I am asking inane questions, is it possible to use the phone i.e. return to menu when in a call?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't own an Epic but have thought about jumping from verizon to sprint for their superior 3G coverage in my area. The only phone that interests me is the Epic so I have been reading a lot of forums and reviews. I have heard that the Samsung is supposed to have great quality through the 3.5mm(I think because of some pre-amp or dedicated part of the processor. I'm no expert and cant remember what I read and where).
I haven't really seen to many comments about the audio quality from the 3.5mm headset jack and also the exterior speaker loudness and quality. Coming from the Original Moto Droid it has the best external speaker on any other phone I've owned thus far but sub-par 3.5mm headset jack quality/loudness. Can anybody give me some of their personal opinions on how they think the Epic external speaker matches up to the original Moto Droid and how about the quality/loudness out of the 3.5mm.
call quality been on the X? I have spent a lot of time in the forums here learning about the phone's capabilities and havent once thought about the phone being used as a. However, that is a good thing, because I have had great clear calls which was in contrast to my previous phone, so since the phone has been working as it should, I havent thought about it. But my calls (listening to the person on the other end, and how they say I sound) have been pretty near perfect.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI call internationally on calling cards A LOT (gv to those countries is 2x more expensive). Because of the calling card, sound quality and volume already takes a hit. Translation from a non-native language is more difficult over the phone, and damned near impossible for me if I can't hear them CLEARLY and LOUDLY. Same goes for the party at the other end if my microphone is sub-par.
Can anyone recommend a Bluetooth headset that works well with the droid and has AMAZING call clarity, quality, and good volume? Aesthetics are unimportant, I don't care what it looks like or how big it is. It just need to sound loud, clear, and have a good mic. It also needs to be comfortable because it will get used 1-2 hours EVERY day.
Bonus points if its stereo and supports A2DP audio, as getting one of those for music listening is also on the shopping list... but I'm perfectly willing to get two separate units if I need to.
Has anyone noticed improvement to the call quality and echo issues that many of us have had with the Droid. I have force/updated today and as yet the problems have not recurred.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am hard to impress and this device really impresses me. No bugs or issues yet that I haven't been able to fix. Camera works great. Screen is beautiful. Everything is solid. Call quality is great. Signal is rock solid (better, in fact, than my old LG, which was itself good). GPS is crazy accurate (can tell which couch I'm sitting on within the same room).
Motorola, Google, and Verizon is a team that's hard to match if the owner is ready to invest the time in setting up the device properly.

Has anyone checked the vocode setting following the update? I'm sure it would have addressed call quality, but I was wondering if signal reception has improved (if an issue for you previously) based on that change, or any others.
I have really enjoyed everything about the Droid in the 5 days I've had it, except call quality. I switched from an iPhone 3G and the droid can do everything my iPhone could and more, and then I placed a phone call.
My phone was updated to 2.0.1 right at the Verizon store. I left, made a call, and am now regretting leaving my iPhone. I get horrible choppiness, static, and muffled voice on my end. On the other end everyone I call can hear me great. I have tried the *228 options 1 and 2, changing to evrc-b(or whatever it was called) and 13k, privacy off, basically every setting i could find.
Went to the Verizon store, the saleswoman said it was normal and that all phones do that. I laughed, said I was gonna quit this "awesome network" and go back to "crap" AT&T, then they exchanged the phone no problem. Of course this fixed nothing and here I am making phone calls and repeating, "what did you say?" until I can make out some words.
Don't get me wrong, I like Verizon and I've had them before and I never had any issues with call quality, which brings me to believe it's strictly the phone. I may have gotten the occasional dropped call on the iPhone(once a week at most) but at least my calls were all clear.
I just tried to use my apple earbuds with the mic and while I could hear the other party, they could not hear me.
Are no mics supported with the Droid X, or just the apple ones?
New Mexico is a hands free state. My BT headset is dead, (poor jawbone), so I wanted to pickup a wired headset for my Eris. I've been doing some googling but am not coming up with much. I checked Verizon accessories webpage and am not thrilled with any offerings that I see from them...

I usually start google listen, but It seems If I don't...the music player starts up.
This also occurred when I tried to watch a video.
I would prefer to start the music player manually, if I want to listen to music.
I plugged my Eris into a two way audio jack to play music through a friend's car stereo, but when I removed the jack, it went into headset mode and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I don't own a headset and as such, cannot talk to or hear anyone I call or who is calling me now. I have scoured the net for answers but the only thing I found was an outdated app that will not work on the phone. Is there anyway to get my phone off headset mode. A toggle widget that works for the newest version of the os? Anything? Anyone

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I plugged my phone into my car stereo to listen to pandora.When I unplugged it the headphone icon turned into a headset icon.I have no headset and now it's stuck in headset mode.I cannot hear anyone who calls me, or talk to them.I did a quick search for this problem and found some response that suggested it had to do with the hearing aid function in call setting, but when I went into call setting, the hearing aid option was turned off. I've tried powering down and restarting but that did nothing.I'm running a rooted version of 2.1, i don't remember which one but it based on the last leaked version of 2.1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the 2.1 OTA yesterday morning. I was one 1.5 and it loaded up without issue. A couple of quirky things to work out, but then again, there are so many more setting and functionality with 2.1.
The update broke my existing link with my BT headset. So I went in and and set it up again. I got them to "pair" but I can't get it to "connect". Does anybody have any ideas here?
BTW, my wife has an Eris too. She's a second line on my contract. She still has not gotten the ota update yet. So it appears to be totally random who it's being pushed to.
I just got my droid eris last night, and i love it! This is the first smart phone i've ever had, so i'm still learning about it.
I was really sad when i saw the quality of the photos that i took. Heres one.
I looked around on the forums before posting, and the issues i found similar to mine were on different phones, but i tried them anyways. Those threads suggested adjusting the flicker and Iso settings. messed with both, and there really wasn't a difference. I don't have the little plastic film on it either lol
