It seems possible to setup a shared folder but I can't find any directions on it and none of my current shares show on the phone. Does any know how to do this or if it's even possible. I would love to transfer stuff without plugging in the phone.

Im really looking at getting this phone. What I really need though is to have the ability to use my phone as a wifi router to use my laptop when needed. My current 2 year old samsung i760 is running an app called WM wifi router that is currently doing this, for free. To me this is a deal breaker if the phone cannot do this. I have looked everywhere on the interwebz and have not found no such info for this phone.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have to say that an user profile is a must have feature in an education. So no devices under android 4.2 aren't possible, because there must be an option to use "student profile" in a device to prevent any installation from an user.
1) If i have several devices (like 50 Android devices, Android 4.2 or later), what is the easiest way to manage them all at the same time?

- sync application for this?
- administration profile?
2) Do I have to make an account for each devices in GooglePlay or can I add them all under one account?How can i buy and install apps for each devices?
3) And does the Allshare offer sharing a screen with several devices?
How to manage several devices easiest wat - administration, installing/deleting apps, emptying devices (for example photos/videos...)...Or is it just better to choose iPad with a sync case? Im more interested in Android tablets because they offer much more for less money (example Galaxy Note serie). But I have no idea how to manage them all at the same time.

I've got openfiler running a samba share and all my windows and linux boxes can connect, but it would be perfect if the phone could sync up. Seems like there would be something in the marketplace, but I could not find anything for free. Also, once the Android 2 update happens, will their be more applications available in the marketplace?

Is there any way I can broadcast the wifi from one of my devices. I know if I had my laptop hardwired I could share the Wifi, but I've not found anything to do Wifi to Wifi. or Wifi to Bluetooth. Any know, I don't have data plans on the cell phones as I am out of town.

correction it did work while I was in recovery but once I was booted to the system the folder was gone for the second user.
Has anyone tried sharing a wifi connection through the evo? I have a really old laptop without a wireless card and would like to be able to pick up wifi signal from my router with evo and use usb to share with my pc. Haven't tried yet and will when i get home bit just wondering if anyone had tried this or knows if it'll work.

So, using that I have made my WiFi of PC to Access Point Mode. So, now I am able to connect to PC using that WiFi network. But I am unable to access internet. Can anyone suggest me the way to share my PC internet to my HTC Tattoo to save money when we are at home.
View 3 Replies View Relatedsetting up UCCW so how the widgets created should be inside the UCCW directory..some of the new clocks, battery bars, etc. I downloaded come with just a "UZIP" file, some come with a UZIP file & an image and some come with a whole directory that has weather images, fonts, etc. inside.
In the posts & threads I found previously that didn't really explain how to set up the new widgets, they just said "put everything inside the UCCWoutput folder"....
now, if one widget I download unzips to a folder with all that widgets' contents inside should I just put that folder inside the UCCWoutput folder?or do the fonts go into the "fonts" folder on the SD card and everything else go into the UCCWoutput folder?
right now I have almost everything placed in the UCCWoutput folder...no folder for images or files or font or separate folders for separate widgets....and only a few of the widgets show up when I try to add one to my screens...I thought maybe that each widget should have it's own folder but from what I read in previous posts I found the explanations were pretty vague...."put so-and-so inside the UCCWoutput folder"....that doesn't explain anything really since some widgets have 1 file and some have a UZIP file, a font file and a bunch of images...

The connection is open with WEP disabled.From a Windows Mobile 6 PDA I am able to see various WiFi routers, my laptop ICS and connect to the laptop ICS.From Android I am only able to see the various WiFi routers, but not the laptop ICS connection.Does the Windows ICS use some special Microsoft protocol that the Android WiFi adapter can not detect?Is there some other Android software or app that can connect the Windows WiFi ICS?

I enabled Internet Sharing on my Mac, selected Airport under ports & provided a WEP password. On my Galaxy S, I select my macbook on the list of WiFi n/w, provide the password, but it never gets connected & there is no error msg either. Has anyone else tried this? Any ideas on why this is happening? BTW, I'm able to connect my Galaxy S to my wireless router at home.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a PC running Windows XP, which is connected to the internet using a wired cable modem. I then have a laptop, which I want to use to access the internet, but no wireless router.
Then I realized that my G1 (running Froyo) has WiFi, and I have the USB cable for it. So, is there any way of setting up my G1 to use the connection from the desktop PC via USB, and then broadcast it as a WiFi network? This is only intended to be a temporary solution (a few days) so I'm not going to go out and buy a wireless router or anything.

Connecting to hotel wifi can be a real pain, especially when you have to "log in" with the hotels username and password. What I mean by this is: The network is an unsecured network, but you have to log in on the browser. This can't be done on an Xbox. Usually I resort to just using my phones hot spot, but its a real drag on my data limit.
is it possible to connect to the hotels wifi on my phone and then rebroadcast that signal to my Xbox?

I know there are various app's on phones that allow you to share your 3g connection but I have not found anything that I can actually install that will create the same sort of functionality on my tablet, most of the ones I've seen on the play store are simple short cuts giving control over the pre-existing wifi hotspot app.
What I need is the wifi hotspot itself, ie the ability to use my tablet as a router/bridge.
Generally music setup is good, much better than on the Blackberry. However, when I go into the album folder all the songs show up from that album as individual albums; on some of them when I click, it will show about 3 songs, others 1 etc. Also, showing 3 of the same song, not sure how that occurred but can probably fix that.

What's the point of being able to record videos with a phone if you can't upload them to the web? I have shot some really cool videos that I want to share with friends via YouTube, Facebook or e-mail and I always get the message that says you cannot upload files larger than 1GB or that I must resize them first or whatever.I see really long videos on youtube, why can't I upload a 1 or 2 minute video?Makes no sense whatsoever.Any ideas?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm having a small issue trying to share videos on Youtube. Essentially, I'm forced to log in every single time I want to upload a video. Here's how it happens: I take a video with the stock camera app. Go to the gallery, and click share. Choose Youtube. It asks me to login. I do, and it uploads fine over wifi. Take another video, same steps, and I'm asked to login again. The problem is, I have a long username, so this is really annoying. I'd think it would cache my username for at least as long as the youtube app is still open in the background, or gallery, or something. I've tried going into the youtube app directly, logging in, and then doing all this. No matter what I do, I have to login to youtube every single time. There are other Droid threads about login errors to youtube via the app, but I'm not experiencing that - I'm able to login fine, I'm just annoyed I have to do it every single time I want to use youtube, be it via the app or sharing through gallery. I'm learning to Cut All when I login the first time, then pasting each subsequent time, so at least I'm only retyping my password each time. Which makes it not a huge deal, but still an annoyance Especially since I tend to upload in batches. Anyone else experiencing this? Is this a security thing or did they just forget the "remember me" checkbox?

I can do this using the stock "Files" application by going to Shared Folders Add Server. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it with Root Explorer.The device I want to connect to (ReadyNAS Duo) supports CIFS and NFS, and I don't care which one of those I use if that helps.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAm trying to drag/drop files from my Droid to my PC and back but cannot figure this out to save my life. I want to do it via wifi,not bluetooth. I DL es file explore but I cannot get my PC to recognize my Droid like it would if I connected via USB and mounted. How in the world do I get it so I can swap files back and forth? ES keeps asking for a password and I have no clue what password it wants. I did my initial logon password and it got me in but past that it's a no go. Not to mention the biggest prob is trying to get the PC to recognize it has the Droid connected and looking at files on its network. I'm using Vista and am rooted using Droidmod.
