OK, I've seen different reviews that mention apps that you really have to have, that should almost be standard apps from Android Market. So, what are the top 10 apps, that are the must haves from the AM?

Motorola Droid :: Market Applications After Root And Flashing ROMs

Motorola Droid :: Lost All Market Links To Free Applications - ROM Related?

Jun 16, 2010

Just wanted to share this in case others experience it...I've never seen this happen before on other ROMs (currently on BB Froyo v.2). No idea if it's the fault of the ROM, or some other quirk...this happened a full day after I had installed BB v.2 over my previous install of BB v.1.

I went into the Market/Downloads view a little while ago and found that none of my free installed apps were listed, just the paid ones. All the apps were still installed on my system, but all the market links apparently had been lost. I hadn't done anything today to change my setup or configuration, but for some reason my installed free apps had disappeared. I entered and exited the market a few times, nothing changed.

Went to Titanium and did a quick backup, just to make sure that I had all my apps. Then I tried to use Titanium's market fix feature, but it said there were no market links to fix. Remembering some advice in Titanium Backup that says when restored market links aren't showing up after a restore (which I hadn't done), if you simply download and install one app from the Market it will refresh the links...I did so, and all my free installed apps showed up again in the Market/Download screen.

Android :: How To Share Applications?

Nov 10, 2009

I did a few searches but couldn't find anything specific to what I'm talking about. My wife and I both got Droids the other day and love them. We are enjoying finding apps and all that stuff, but one thing I haven't been able to figure out is how we can share applications between us. Granted I dont want to illegally share apps with random people and friends, just between my wife. Not big into paying for 1 app 2 times so that we can share an experience. We both have ipod touch's, and we have always been able to share the apps with that by my 'authorizing' her ipod to match mine. She still has her email and all that, just we share a purchasing account. I imagine there is a backdoor way to copy apps and api's, but i dont want to get into that. I used to have a custom rom winmo and part of the appeal of the droid was it would do everything i want without having to crack it. I heard google was thinking about app sharing, and app2sd is in official development, but is there anything I can do now?

Android :: How To Share Data Between Applications With No Dependency

Sep 19, 2010

I want to share data between 2 applications. the idea is both applications can write and read the SAME data and there is no dependency which one of the apps is installed or first created the data. I have 2 version of the same app: regular and premium and I don't know which of them will be first installed and both of them can change it.I tried to use ContentProvider but the problem is that only the first app can create the Provider and when it is uninstalled it deletes that custom Provider. I want the Content to be kept for the second app. Also, I tried to use Settings.System which keeps the data regardless if the application is installed or not but I don't want to use the permission for that (it is very problematic from user perspective). BTW, it seems that I can change ANY of the Settings.System which is not secured from Android OS perspective - but this is a subject for other post.

Nov 1, 2010

I did search the forums for this, but couldn't find anything helpful.Maybe I'm not using the right terminology.I have a rooted DX and I want to be able to connect to a share on my home network with Root Explorer. I can do this using the stock "Files" application by going to Shared Folders Add Server. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it with Root Explorer. The device I want to connect to (ReadyNAS Duo) supports CIFS and NFS, and I don't care which one of those I use if that helps.

Am trying to drag/drop files from my Droid to my PC and back but cannot figure this out to save my life. I want to do it via wifi, not bluetooth. I DL es file explore but I cannot get my PC to recognize my Droid like it would if I connected via USB and mounted. How in the world do I get it so I can swap files back and forth? ES keeps asking for a password and I have no clue what password it wants. I did my initial logon password and it got me in but past that it's a no go. Not to mention the biggest prob is trying to get the PC to recognize it has the Droid connected and looking at files on its network. I'm using Vista and am rooted using Droidmod.

Motorola Droid :: Lost Market Apk - Need Market App

Jul 14, 2010

I've been rooted with Droid Mod forever and have never had any issues or never tried other roms it worked so I've stayed with it. Anyway I was screwing around trying to fix a problem and did a nandroid back up and and restore ( i'm clueless) Did not wipe info (that scares me) and I reflashed the rom a couple times because I kept selecting or deselecting the wrong things. Finally got everything perfect. The phone seemed to like the mini overhaul. But when I rebooted the market apk is gone. No where to be found. All my apps are there but no icon for market. Its just gone. Can I get that, download it desktop, mount, and drag to phone somewhere?

Android :: Applications Outside Market

Mar 6, 2010

The Market is great. Use your phone, find your app, and install it with one click. (Hope THATS not patented!) But what about folks that live in countries not supported by the Android Market? Or devices that don't support the Market? Or the simple fact that some great stuff just isn't IN the Market? Get ready to open up a new tab on that browser and let's go for a spin. Before we get started, we do need to make sure our phones are set up to find and install apps that are downloaded from other places. Enabling non-Market applications is easy. Let's do it now.Using apps that aren't from the Market.Open up your settings by clicking the menu button or digging into your app drawer and selecting settings.Flip through the list and find the Applications section.

You'll see an ominous looking section called Unknown sources. We need to check that box. Now before you go all clicky, prepare yourself for what you're going to see. A pop up is going to appear that warns you about how vulnerable you're going to be by installing apps that aren't from the Market. What that pop up isn't telling you is that Google allows any application into the Market without a review process. I'll leave the discussion about the good and bad of this for another time, but anyone could write a nasty app and put it on the market just as easy as hosting it somewhere else. Google is just being diligent and covering themselves, and I don't blame them. Just be careful what you download, and where you get it from and you should be OK.
