View 26 RepliesI have the original droid with 2.1 (still haven't got update) the phone has some problems like, restarting, cant update certain apps, unresponsive. i just got the phone in may 2010 an im starting to think its getting out dated. I once had it rooted to 2.2 but went back to stock for OTA 2.2 . But my question is, that do u think i can call verizon and tell them my problems, say its my 3rd droid and im getting tired of it. Since there not making the oringinal droid anymore do u think they'll let me upgrade to Droid X with little or no fee? i got the idea from another post, reading that someone had success with this trick?

I looked online to make sure i would be able to get the DX on the 15th when it came out. it didn't look like i was able to get a smartphone for the 2 year contract price. so, i called customer service and they said that i am indeed able to upgrade on nov 9 but i'm not eligible for the early upgrade because i am currently a smartphone user.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I had 2 versions of Gallery and Music Player when I was running 2.0.1 and downloaded the apk's for the 2.1 Gallery and Music apps. When I upgraded to 2.1 OS I figured the 2.0 apps would be wiped out. It appears that they have until you look deeper. I have only one icon for the stock music app but noticed that when I press the button on my headset it would start and pause music other than what was qeued in the music app.
When I go to 'manage apps' I have 2 music apps listed (both say ver 7). One is 580kb and the other 4kb, giving the impression that the 4kb version is nothing really, but there are definately two versions running at times hence the whole 2 different songs playing at once deal when I press the headset button. I'm reluctant to try deleting anything as I am not sure how I can verify that any of the files floating around right now for the music application are the current version and don't wanna complicate life if I delete something that causes a problem.
I had filed a similar issue about location services not working properly in emulator. However after I upgraded my droid phone to 2.2, I am finding that location services are not showing the correct location. Though the coordinates looks correct, it is showing my location as San Jose while I stay in Los Gatos. Therefore my local search query gives me result based on San Jose.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an app with about 200.000 users and recently upgraded it. This has worked fine before but now I suddenly got 30-40 emails and lot of 1* because the app icon didn't work anymore. It said the program wasn't installed. If they went to "My Downloads" in the Android Market they could open the app just fine from there.I asked the users to reboot and that solved the issue for all of them. Four days later I had to update again and the problem reappeared for the users. 30-40 new emails and I am very concerned about pushing out new upgrades. This problem seemed to affect different devices but at least HTC Desire with 2.1 was affected. Is this an Android bug or related in some way to my Manifest file? I don't believe I have changed anything in the manifest lately to trigger anything like this.Hope someone can provide any assistance.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an old Samsung I-997 Infuse, running 2.2 Froyo, and rooted. After installing the latest YouTube version, my YouTube no longer works.. I'm guessing because of an incompatibility with the old Froyo version. When I try to view any YouTube, from the app. or even from the web, I get a simple announcement which states "An Error Occurred".I've tried the normal uninstall, reinstall. Is there a way to install an older version of YouTube?

- Booted to stock system recovery, wiped data/factory reset & wipe cache

View 4 Replies View RelatedOver the week I did some research on upgrading my DROID and my wife's Eris both to 2.1. I downloaded the files I needed and was planning on upgrading both phones. For the DROID I ran into a problem, my computer won't recognize the RSDLite program that I guess I need to upgrade my DROID. So I am not sure how to do it. I have BB v0.9 downloaded, or is there a better 2.1 available to use without rooting? For my wife's Eris it was so simple. Basically I downloaded the .zip file, mounted the phone and put the file on the sd card, then restarted the phone. I just followed the on screen steps, and bam, now my wife's Eris has 2.1.Is there not a way that is that simple to update the DROID. I am kind of jealous because my wife has 2.1 on her Eris, and I have the better phone that is now running a lower software version. Anyone want to help me out?
View 18 Replies View Relatedi just upgraded my Desire this morning, everything works except wifi, the update went smooth without any problem, once the update was done it started up fine, only thing i noticed was the Wifi didnt work, In Setting - Wireless network, it say ?unable to start Wi-Fi? under Wi-Fi.
Firmware version; 2.1-update1
Software number; 1.21.405.2
One more thing i have noticed in setting-about phone-hardware information-under wi-fi mac address is unavailable. Whereas before upgrading it has a wifi mac address which i had noted down. Is it a driver issue? If yes how can i fix it.
When my hero was on 1.5, normal stereo headphones attached worked a-ok if I used the toggleheadset app. Now I have upgraded to 2.1, when I attach the headphones it automatically detects them but sends the volume down to vibrate... if I try to increase the volume using the volume switch it either tries to increase but forces it back down again or shoots up to maximum... Anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it? I have removed the toggle app above, and I have restarted the phone. Also, when I attached the headphones sometimes the phone just goes into vibrate mode and stays that way... i.e. it just continoulsy vibrates until I press the home key.

View 7 Replies View RelatedLet me begin by saying I am non rooted. I do not wish to root.I apoligize in advance if this is a repeat but I have yet to find an answer anywhere regarding this issue.Let me also say I am sorry in advance for my horrid ghrammer and spelling. On to the show.I have searched and scoured and burned my eyeballs trying to find a way to upgrade to FRG22. I am one of those who have been having lag and issues with my 2.2 upgrade. (it is sexy as hell though to look at and flash is ok. Not awesome of course. Fast moving video and demanding games and FLASH based video arnt the greatest, some damn choppy enough to make ur stomach turn but its a start and further than we were a month ago) Anyways back to the task at hand.I have downloaded the FRG22-Release or ODEXED version of FRG22 and wish to install it on my Droid. I have downloaded 2 zip files for this and renamed them update.zip and tried it with them in their original file names. I get the e:verification sig error and install aborted each time. I also did not have BOTH on the phone at the same time. IF i applied one I removed the other.
I noticed between these 2 they are different file sizes as well so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I followed Tridents Instructions to get to the menu to install the update. And YES i did use the FRG22 zip files to update not the original froyo release trident has as the first post on his forced update.I would just like to know 2 things. 1.)Is it possible for NON ROOTED users to update to FRG22. and 2.) If it is and I have the correct file. Which do I use and what am I doing wrong to not make this work out for myself?
Currently I have the Moto Droid. I am thinking about upgrading to the Droid X but not sure if the upgrade is that beneficial. I really enjoy the flexibility with having a rooted device and from what I've read the DX is going to be a phone with little hope for rooting much like the milestone. My question to all of you is what do you recommend? And if I should upgrade, give me a few reasons why.
