My brand new Droid X will no longer power on. No amount of charging or button pushing will bring it back. I took it to Verizon and they could not figure anything out. It will take two weeks to get another one. They could not even give me a loaner phone in the meantime. Verizon customer service is horrible! Based of the performance of the service provider I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

My power/lock button no longer works. Phone hasn't been dropped, only had it for 3 days and it's been babied. I hoped pulling the battery and rebooting might help, but it didn't. In fact, after that the only way to get it to reboot was to plug it into my computer via USB.

It stinks that I paid $300 for a phone with a battery that won't last very long if running applications.I hear all of these commercials about droid being able to walk,talk and chew gum at the same time but they fail to tell you that less than 2 hours later the phone dies.Back to the question,is there a way to make it last longer? View 2 Replies View RelatedThe switch has been a bit finicky for a few months. Today it stopped working all together. I couldn't turn the phone on except my plugging in power. Then I couldn't shut it off. I pulled the battery to try and reboot but now I can't turn it on. I opened the back but there is a star shaped screw and another with a void sticker on it. I was thinking of taking a look at the button leads to see if there is something lodged in there of perhaps if they were just dirty, I could clean them to get a better connection....but I will be crossing a line if I do.
The big question is....who do I turn to regarding a repair? Since I bought it from google, I don't think T-mobile will help. Once I finally reach the right person at google, they will most likely say ship it to us and we will look at it when we get around to it.
Anybody have any probs with the power button? Got caught in a torrential downpour this afternoon to find my wallet and phone somewhat damp after being in my soaking jeans.Power button no longer works so effectively once the screen saver kicks in I cant unlock it. Thankfully its still within warranty so will take it back to get a replacement.This is the 2nd phone I've had that has suffered this prob. My previous phone, a dreadful Sony Ericsson died a death.Avoiding the rain is somewhat unavoidable when you live in Scotland. MakingTaking a phonecall in the rain is sometimes a necessary evil. I really have to question the build quality of some of the modern phones. Do they even test the use of phones in the rain? It seems somewhat of a basic function, and to have such a major malfunction with such minimal exposure to rain is quite disappointing to say the least, especially when it never came into direct contact.

Is this a known issue with bugless beast 1.2 that I just have to deal with? I love having my phone rooted but id rather have a fully functioning phone that a rooted phone.

Last time it rang is when I was playing with settings to have it stop ringing when I place if face down. I've undone that facedown setting. Ringer is ON. I've cycled it on/vibrate/off and back ON. Silent Mode is OFF Phone Vibrate is OFF Audible touch tones is ON and I hear tones on phone keypad Volume is Audible.I can select and listen to my ringer tune.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just purchased this droid about a week ago and everything had been working fine. I synced with doubletwist, I added pictures to it and it charged through the computer. Until last night when I plugged the USB into my computer and a window popped up saying it didn't recognize the USb device, this device has malfunctioned yada yada yada. Motorola doesn't know why, verizon doesn't know why, I can't claim it under warranty( i bought from a friend) and insurance doesn't cover it b/c its a "malfunction".
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell, like others have mentioned in this forum, my Droid has started to get noticeably better battery life. I'm definitely lasting the entire day now, and I think I could go longer if I didn't work in a building with spotty reception at best (constantly switching back and forth from 1X to 3G with 1 bar). Conceivably, I'm not installing as many applications on the phone as I did in the first 1-2 weeks of ownership (I'm on week 2.5) so I'm not hitting the battery as much. But, what I'm really wondering about is if you guys think that a background backup process is running during the first few days (and after new app installations) that eats up battery power. Once the Droid reaches a 'steady' state, the backup process isn't running anymore and the Droid can last longer on a single charge. Does this sound reasonable or am I reaching...or just plain wrong. In which case, why is the battery lasting longer into the day. From my recollection, LiIon batteries don't have a memory affect so cycling them in is unnecessary.

Running the 2.1 UD rom and all of a sudden this morning I can no longer install apps. They DL ok, but never install. Apps are DL from market/appbrain. have not made any changes to the rom. Any suggestions?

I have just updated to version 2.1 and noticed my push Gmail wasnt working. I then went into the Google Mail application and can see its not showing any emails in the inbox and its not downloading any mail in "All items" either. Its only showing emails prior to the update. If I hit refresh it spins for a few moments and I see the data arrows indicate transfer but it doesnt refresh the inbox.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNo major issues, but my startup screen does seem to take a LOT longer before the phone actually loads, and once it does none of my buttons/widgets appear for another 5-10 seconds. Additionally, once in a while when exiting a program none of the buttons are on the home screen for 3-5 seconds, and sometimes a Force Close error pertaining to the home activity will pop up ... anyone else experience anything similar, or even just notice a longer boot time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first Bought My Droid X. I installed GDE which I Love and also Lockbot Pro which I also enjoy the Versatility of. During my 2nd day of use my screen went blank and no matter what I did the factory screen would not return, so I did a Hard reset back to factory settings. Now my problem is, that my original factory home Screen is no Longer Available through the home Button even if I uninstall Lockbot pro and/or GDE.
AND when I press the home Button it always asks me If I want to go to GDE or Lockbot (but as everyone knows, U never pick the lock screen). Should I just give up the Apps I like. I have the desire to got back to the factory home screen. That's why I ask, I can't without doing a Hard reset everytime. By the way, My 1st Droid (with The hard keyboard) always gives me the option of GDE, Home, or Lockbot When I press the home Button.
After I installed and evaluated the Companionlink software for syncing Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and notes to my Droid, I noticed the gmail contacts were no longer syncing via the gmail sync. However, the gmail calendar and mail were not affected. I uninstalled all of the Companionlink stuff but the contacts still do not sync. Anyone know how I can get the contacts to sync via gmail again? Short of "reset user data on phone"?

I try to 'test notification' but the LED does not flash regardless of the color I choose. This is extremely annoying as I don't know when I have a text anymore unless I hear my phone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as going back to Handcent but still no luck. Is there an easy solution for this? I'm hoping!

I then tried the menu button and it worked. I then tried the search button and it didnt work.Is this a known problem and if so how do i fix it? If theres no fix will verizon give me a replacement?

I've tried going through the weather setup over again several times and all the settings are there and correct. I've also tried rebooting...no luck. Strange that it just stopped working. View 5 Replies View RelatedThe title says it all. I force updated my Droid 1 to 2.2 and the phone does not vibrate for notifications or calls. I have vibrate set to always and the ringer is turned on. If I use the volume rocker to change the settings to silent it will give the vibrate notification to indicate that it is in silent. I have done a factory reset on the phone but the issue remains. I have tried all of the different vibrate settings but still nothing. Any ideas?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI use to have an Iphone and finally upgraded to my Droid. But thing that i havent figured out how to work is Yahoo messenger to SMS to my droid.
On Iphone, if a friend on yahoo messenger SMS'ed me a text from within it i got it just fine as a txt msg and can reply back, but on the droid, when u send the sms messege, my droid doesnt get anything.
I tested with AIM and Live messenger and seemed to work but yahoo doesnt.
If anyone has a yahoo account and droid can u please test to see if it works for u?
Regular phone to phone sms works fine too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had my phone rooted just running stock 2.2, last night an OTA came to my phone while I was at work, and my brother (doesn't know anything about root) accepted the update. Now whenever I try to do something in Rom Manager I get an error message :"an error occurred while attempting to run privalaged commands." Set CPU does not work, and Super User is still in my app drawer.
Does anyone know whats going on, it appears my phone is no longer rooted, but I still have SU in my app drawer, how can I fix this? Is there a way to completely unroot my phone? or revert back to where I was before the OTA? Everytime I try to load Rom Manager and restore my phone it gets stuck with a picture of a phone and a "!" mark.
