So here's a question for you guys. I'm new to android and I'm looking for an app or combination of apps that will allow me to do a few things on my home PC. I'd like to be able to do the following from anywhere, not just my home network:
-Access my desktop via remote desktop
-View (and possibly edit) documents/pdfs on my PC
-Stream music from my PC. I've been doing some research and it seems there are a few options for what I'm trying to accomplish, so I'm hoping you folks can point me in the right direction.
G+ messenger app within android G+ app works fine. However, I would like to be able to run Messenger on my desktop computer as well. It is much less cumbersome to type there. However, I don't seem to find any possibility to access it via G+ app in my chrome desktop browser. Also, there is no external app to run it. The only thing available is google talk, which does not include/show any of my messenger-conversations.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith Deodexed Froyo my camcorder crashes to desktop everytime I try to use it. It just closes the cam app and goes to desktop. This is both by clicking the camcorder icon and pressing the hardware button to access the software.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently using Launcher Pro. I have two separate email accounts with my ISP, Bresnan. With all my previous android phones I've been able to set up desktop shortcuts to each account so they can be checked separately. With the X, I cannot seem to do this. The email shortcut does not allow me to specify an account, and just shows the default account. I'd really like to continue to use my old system of two account shortcuts.

I open to read it and its a reply from the conversation that I was having on my PC via the Droids Google talk. So I reply back via the Google talk on the PC and dag gone it, if his response didnt come back on the Droid. What the heck is that all about?

2 questions:
1. is there a way to stop this from happening
2. if not, is there an easier way to fix it besides shutting down the phone and restarting it?
Moto droid, not rooted, have aquarium live wallpaper, beutiful widgets large, no launcher or home applications installed.
Has anyone tried Xtralogic or any other suggested remote desktop application on their Droids? Via the VPN, I would like to connect to my windows servers from my phone. How is Xtralogic if anyone has tried it? Also, is there a command line prompt application for the Droid, so I would have the capability of pinging windows servers, (after establishing a VPN connection of course)? The built-in VPN tool on my phone works fine.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn XP is there a way to create a shortcut to an e-mail recipient on your desktop that will open up Gmail and place their e-mail address in the TO box? I love how I can create a shortcut on my droid, so it got me thinking that it would be nice to have for the people I email most from my PC.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that will backup and restore your desktop widgets to there original position. I know you can backup/restore your icons with Launcher Pro, Titanium, etc... but they do not restore working widgets. Is the only way to do this through a complete system restore like nandroid?
I would like to be able to restore my desktop with widgets after something like a factory reset or custom ROM install. Is it possible to restore just the desktop/widgets from a nandroid backup? What data would I restore to accomplish that?
Is there a way to delete messages on the Droid without deleting them on the email server? My Curve would allow me to do this. My wife and I use the same email, and she gets bombarded with mail that clutters my phone. BB made it easy to delete only on the handheld, but I don't see any such option on the Droid.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNow that the OTA is coming, I'm guessing a lot of us will do a factory reset after update to Froyo. I'm wondering if someone can give some tips regarding what to do before and after the factory reset, including but not limited to the following:
0. how to do a factory reset?
1. to reinstall apps (is appbrain the best way?).
2. to keep personal/contact info (will Google contact sync keep everything on the phone?).
3. to keep desktop/widget setup (e.g. LLP backup and restore tips).
4. any Droid X specific quirk?
Being a long time OUTLOOK user on my Windows PC, I am use to my previous smartphone syncing these items with my phone. As of now, I see there is a google sync app, but unfortunately this doesn't work with the latest Office 2010 Public Beta. I have yet to hear of a time frame when support will be announced. So it looks like I am no solution running Outlook 2010 any syncing anything to my phone.
What are users on here doing for a desktop to droid sync for your TODO/Calendar, etc? I like Google Calendar, just don't like having to open a web browser on my pc to access my calendar.
I have a zillion labels. Only way to manage the old digital life Any who, it's a PITA going into GMail and scrolling through the astronomical list of labels to see what's in there. Needless to say, some labels are, to me, more important than others. With that in mind, what I'd like to know is how I can create a shortcut on the desktop that will go directly to a specific label in GMail. It's gotta be possible.
