In case anyone is just lazy and hasn't done it yet or your a newb and don't really know what to do or wanna learn (slacker), here is the bloat free version of 2.2 de-odexed (you need to be running 2.2 to use it. I been working on/with it for a few hours now and it seems pretty stable. If nothing else, you'll have a good back up (we know you forgot to make one). Good starting point to, for trying new things.
I know you advanced guys are prolly way ahead of this, but I struggled to get to this point so if I can help someone out, well, why not also, if anyone wants to tweak it some more, we'll make it a project. The lock screen needs some help, its a lot faster but still a lil janky (not so bad after the first one though). Quadrant score on my X (non overclock) was 1477 with false stagefright; 2017 with true stage fright
ROM INFO
Just rooted and deodexed a friends droid x on 2.2. Everything works fine, but we can't download ANY files in the browser. It instantly says "download unsuccessful". No matter what it is or where its from. We've tried doing"fix permissions"in don manager, soft reboot, no results. Does anyone have ANY idea what's causing this?and this was not an issue before rooting...
View 3 Replies View Relatedthis WILL wipe your phone. Make a backup prior to doing this and of course im not responsible, blah blah blah Don't be an idiot either, you must be on Froyo 2.2 to restore an image of 2.2. So, to the question (Can I use this to update my 2.1 and have root). I've noticed that most people that CAN'T run it (MD5 error) are people that did a factory reset. What i would suggest to anyone else reading this, is if you know you have factory reset on 2.2, this probably will not work (by all means try). BUT if you WANT to run it that bad, do a data wipe, and THEN sbf. Root 2.1, update to 2.2, install koush's bootstrapper and try again. that will probably work. Credits to krayzee1 on alldroid for posting this. Mike919 we now have a clockwork recovery backup that you can recover to your phone. What does this give me? well it gives you a way to restore your phone to its default state but it has already been rooted and deodexed. If you dont know what root or deodexed are then please search around the forums.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've read some good things about roms, i just rooted, deodexed and changed my theme to black glass...
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter having upgraded to Smoked Glass, I had it on my phone for no longer than 30 minutes when I was hit with a new OTA notification.
I have already downloaded the file, and it is FRG01B again. The difference, though, is that, instead of patching a ton of files on the fly during the install, which is how the old one worked, this one simply formats System and then copies the entire contents of system from the .ZIP to your phone.
Be that as it may, it looks like I *somehow* got a notification for a full ROM update from VZW.
Again, like I said, it is FRG01B - but the good news is that this is a full ROM, and for those having issues with the previous one, which makes sure you have ESE81 (2.1) installed on your phone, this one does *not*.
Theoretically, I should be able to install this over any previous version of Android - which I am about to test right now.
Is there an app for the Droid that will indicate when it is fully charged? My wife has the Eris which does a nice job of this. When plugged into the charger, the LED is orange. When it is fully charged, the LED turns green. I would really like something like this so at a glance I can tell if my phone is ready to come off the charger.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOK, this is weird. I have already used RSDLite 4.8 and the 2.2 SBF file to flash to stock once with this phone. Last night I wanted to flash back again in order to make a backup, like a dummy I forgot to last time, and try a new ROM. The RSD program ran great, took about 10 mins. Completed successfully and phone rebooted. Once it booted back up I didn't have to go through the phone setup and LauncherPro was already my launcher. None of the blur was put back on and all of my apps were still loaded and accessible. I did loose root though. Anyone experience this? If so what happened? Here is my setup. BTW, I restored a backup so I am right back to where I was before the flashing.
Froyo 2.2
APEX V1
No clock mod
Revolution Theme That is it other than apps that I have DL'ed.
My Droid wall charger stopped fully working this morning, and Im not sure why. It may be either that the charger is broken or the port is. When I charged the phone this afternoon on my car charger, it worked fine, but I did notice once that the input piece for the car charger is slightly wider than the wall charger, and the wall charger has seemed to fit loosely in. I cant tell if anything is actually wrong with the silver input piece on the wall charger. Should I buy a new wall charger or take the phone to Verizon to get the the port possibly fixed if that is the issue? Can they even fix the port?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan anybody tell me how to unroot or remove the root fully from the phone??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone back before 2.2 came out. I've played with CWM, made Nandroid and Titanium backups, removed bloat and installed most of the root only apps. What I haven't done yet is flash a ROM. This is mainly because it seems that while there are a crap ton of ROMs being developed out there all of them seem to either not be fully stable or are missing some sort of key feature (camera, videocam, bluetooth, LED, internal storage, etc).
Are there any ROMs that you folks are currently using that's stable and has all the features of the phone working? If not, what's the closest one that you've found?
Is there any non-market/market, fully functional free emulators I can download for older systems. I'm a broke college student.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a bit of reading and still trying to find all the differences between deodexed roms vs regular roms
So far this is what i have found, if some one can add to this please do
Pros:
enables for more UI customizations(themes, fonts, title bar icons, like battery icons)
Cons:
slower to boot
This is the explanation of deodexed that i found:
"Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything. "
What's the difference?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone in a drink and I took out the battery and I let the phone parts dry overnight in a bowl of dried rice. After putting the battery in the phone, the phone works.. It's just the touch screen part doesn't fully work. Everything on the touch screen is fine except for the home button, the clr button, the menu button, and the search button don't work. Usually when you press them they kind of vibrate but they don't know and they just don't press basically. Is there anyway to replace the screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo it didn't happen immediately after dropping my phone, but I've dropped my phone a few times from hip level on hard surfaces (concrete, tile, etc.) and one day I noticed my spring on the stand wasn't operating correctly. Basically now my kickstand won't close fully and randomly will pop open or stay open like halfway. So my question is has anyone had this issue yet? Was the repair easy to fix? Just open the backplate and keep performing surgery until the stands spring is accessible?
View 28 Replies View RelatedI wondered if anyone else had observed this and come to the same conclusion.Obviously, when the Desire is fully charged, the LED goes from orange to green and I assume it starts trickle charging to protect the battery.HOWEVER, if a "high current" application runs when the phone is trickle charging (even just having the screen on - like after the alarm has gone off) and the phone is drawing more than the trickle charging supplies, the battery supplies the rest. Thus, when you unplug it, the battery monitor re-evaluates the state of charge and it is (sometimes) way below 100%.So, I've got into the habit of a) blanking the screen again after the alarm has gone off b) unplugging the phone for a couple of minutes and then plugging it back in to check what charge it really has (and giving it a chance to charge up to 100% again.I suspect there is a bug lurking in there in not switching back to full charge rate if the battery has lost charge.

On my "other" device, I could ID either the stock browser or Opera as IE and access non-mobile versions of sites that have sniffers.I do not see the same options on Android. I've noticed that when charging my phone overnight, the light will turn green like it is fully charged, but if I unplug it, and plug it back in the light is red again and can take 10-20 minutes to turn green again. It seems the phone doesn't agree with what it considers for the battery to be fully charged. Anyone else have this issue? Is it a software thing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about flashing a Vanilla 2.2 ROM on my Incredible but I'm a bit nervous. It seems most ROMs will end up messing something up from Bluetooth to 3G speeds. My question is simple: is there a 2.2 Vanilla ROM that 100% works and has the latest radio etc.?

Reason being I have a 09:00 appt to pick up my Evo and cannot start charging it until around 10:00. View 24 Replies View RelatedHaven't seen this yet on the forums for the Galaxy S devices. Yesterday and today, my device has been saying it's fully charged when it's only between 80-85% charged. This happens when plugged into the USB cable attached to my PC, haven't noticed it when plugged into a wall charger (such as when I wake up in the morning...it's 100%). Yesterday it would cap off at 85% when the double-tweet alert says it's fully charged, today it registers fully charged at 81% (just now). If I unplug it and plug it back in, it will start charging again like normal (it may even continue charging on it's own without unplugging it, but I'm always next to it when it happens, so I'll try leaving it the next time it alerts). It just happened again (10 minutes later), and I left it plugged in, unlocked the screen, and BattStatt said fully charged. Even the device's "about" section said 100%. I then unplugged it, and it immediately dropped to 83%. Then I plugged it back in, it rose to 85%, and dropped back down to 83% a second later. I don't think it's the battery, as in my 2 years designing battery packs about 7 years ago, I've never seen one discharge 17% instantly. Gotta be a software issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad this happened last night for the first time, last time i looked at the phone it was at 66% battery, an hour or so later it was completely dead and would not charge, not even the indicator light came on. Pulled the battery, nothing, switched chargers and still nothing.
Put a call into HTC and we pulled the battery again as well as did the power and low volume toggle reset and it turned on finally, showing the orange light. Did a soft reset again after that to make sure, everything is fine again, but very very strange.
HTC said they've had some of these issues pop up recently for no apparent reason. The problem would have been if the phone didn't come back at all ...
