Not sure how this application can be legal but it's available. Use it while it lasts. Free mp3 music downloads: MP3 Music Download - Android app on AppBrain
I'm assuming that I'm not violating Android Forums TOS since this app is actually in the Android market. If it is, feel free to delete.

I'm looking for a way to download some FREE apps from google play without having the market installed. To make a long story short: I don't like the market to know what my phone runs. So is there any software I could download there free app "My Callya" with? Have looked everywhere on the interwebs, but can't find it. I'd be more than happy about a download link to it though.

I just installed the new version of AdFree from the market and they finally got rid of the annoying bug that made it a pain to update (for those that don't know it blocks most ads in rooted android phones). Just a heads up to my fellow adventurers in Rootland...

Just wanted to share this in case others experience it...I've never seen this happen before on other ROMs (currently on BB Froyo v.2). No idea if it's the fault of the ROM, or some other quirk...this happened a full day after I had installed BB v.2 over my previous install of BB v.1.
I went into the Market/Downloads view a little while ago and found that none of my free installed apps were listed, just the paid ones. All the apps were still installed on my system, but all the market links apparently had been lost. I hadn't done anything today to change my setup or configuration, but for some reason my installed free apps had disappeared. I entered and exited the market a few times, nothing changed.
Went to Titanium and did a quick backup, just to make sure that I had all my apps. Then I tried to use Titanium's market fix feature, but it said there were no market links to fix. Remembering some advice in Titanium Backup that says when restored market links aren't showing up after a restore (which I hadn't done), if you simply download and install one app from the Market it will refresh the links...I did so, and all my free installed apps showed up again in the Market/Download screen.

I'm thinking about flashing a Vanilla 2.2 ROM on my Incredible but I'm a bit nervous. It seems most ROMs will end up messing something up from Bluetooth to 3G speeds. My question is simple: is there a 2.2 Vanilla ROM that 100% works and has the latest radio etc.?

Yesterday, I noticed that the Social Networking app was not updating. I couldn't find any setting to sync it manually, so I figured maybe a factory reset would do the trick. So....after I did the reset, I noticed that none of my apps were downloading. They all said "downloading" but nothing was happening. So I ended up just restoring from a nandroid backup I did before the reset. Im glad to say that the Social Networking is updating now, but apps are still not downloading . I went to settings/applications/market and cleared the data and rebooted. Still nothing.

I just rooted a couple hours ago. After I did I realized that nothing would download from the market, new apps or updates. So I did a factory reset. Now when I try to open the market it won't even bring up the terms and conditions so obviosely I have no access to the market. What do I do? And BTW, when I did a factory reset do I need to root again?

Ok the market seems to be working except it won't let me download anything. It keeps saying download was unsuccessful. Does any body else have this issue. It worked at first when I first upgraded to froyo.

I was having apps hang on download from the appbrain market app. This was during an appbrain update. So I uninstalled appbrain. The downloads pending went through, but the appbrain update is now hanging in the downloads from the Android Marketplace. It just says "downloading." I can't kill the process. I have rebooted the phone, manually killed the process. I get this message: "Sorry! The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Then "Force Close." I want appbrain back, I love the service, but I don't know what to do.

I searched around I don't think that this question had been asked: Should I download the apps in that market that are already on my droid 2? (Ex.: Google Voice Search, Google Street View, etc.)

My apps are all backed up to my sdcard. I don't need to *download* all of them after each wipe. It takes forever. How do I block this? It just starts automatically now (2.2 thing?).

With the SDK 1.5 it is possible to instantiate two emulators with two different devices. Could I assign a phone number to each device, such, that I could send SMS messages forth and back?

Are there any emulators on the webs that I could download (other than the paid ones on the marketplace) that work pretty well? I'm all down for paying for apps and stuff to support the devs but it would be cool if there are free ones out there that work just as well. I figured I'd ask here first instead of googling it without knowing what to really look for.

I've been rooted with Droid Mod forever and have never had any issues or never tried other roms it worked so I've stayed with it. Anyway I was screwing around trying to fix a problem and did a nandroid back up and and restore ( i'm clueless) Did not wipe info (that scares me) and I reflashed the rom a couple times because I kept selecting or deselecting the wrong things. Finally got everything perfect. The phone seemed to like the mini overhaul. But when I rebooted the market apk is gone. No where to be found. All my apps are there but no icon for market. Its just gone. Can I get that, download it desktop, mount, and drag to phone somewhere?

I'm sure that you all have already known AppBrain's Fast Web Installer which is able to programmatically install free applications in android market to the device.
How could it be possible ?

My application is built on 2.2, but it is backwards compatible down to 1.6. I've used reflection for the newer methods. When I try to run it on an emulator in Eclipse, it only lists my 2.2 AVDs. I need to test on 1.6 to ensure compatibility. I've tried building with Android 2.2 and with Google APIs 2.2 with no luck. (what's the difference, anyway?) I have set <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" targetSDK="8"/> in my manifest. I also tried targetSDK="4".

I've got several messages from my users that they cannot download my app. My app should be available in any market from sdk 1.5 and up, but it's not. Why only part of users with sdk 1.6 can find my app? Should I add android:targetSdkVersion?

Is something wrong with AndroidManifest.xml?

I want to be able to download and install my app from my website, but when i do this at the moment i get the error:-
Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?
