My Droid is slow. I went on an app uninstall spree and really cut it down. I don't have any task killers installed (saw some posts about them) and sometimes my phone does dumb things and lags. If I root and overclock will I see a big difference? I know the dangers of overclocking and that the processor is rated at 1ghz but is underclocked, I understand all that. Or, any suggestions on making it faster?

I got my x on launch day no root no 2.2 all stock .well i've been noticing its getting slower don't have much installed only about 10 apps. The browser will start and then stop when u tell it to go somewere then after a dew sec it takes back off. Text message when u bring it up it takes about 10 sec to load then another lag to start typing and there wont be any old messages in box and when they do finally come up u can't scroll threw the old ones.

I went to the Motorola website and it isn't even mentioned. Could they have pulled it?I always thought that super slow motion video required quite a jump in frames per second (fps). As far as I know, the Droid X camera can only do 24 @ 720P. Maybe it will do super slow-mo only at the lower resolutions.If anyone has tested this feature, or has confirmed that it is or is not there, please let us know.

I have fios with a westell wireless g router but im only getting about 1 mbit up and down when i sit right next to it. Also wondering if anything notices the screen tilts a little bit when you press on it, like its loose.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola Droid has been working fine until yesterday. Now it is very slow, keeps forcing close and my battery keeps dying. I noticed it starting happening after getting a couple of apps updates yesterday (for a shopping list app and anti-virus app). Don't know if that is a coincidence or if it has something to do with it.I also have the sync symbol up in the toolbar by the battery, 3G symbol, etc and I don't recall it being there before the problems either. I turned off auto sync but this did not help.

I was able to pull mine up, then hers up before her banking home page would even load. I tried the google homepage and it seems to take even longer than most other websites. I would think of all sites to go slow, google.com would not be one of them. Anyone have any ideas as to why my browser loads pages so much faster than hers?

No matter which charger I use (besides the stock one) it charges incredibly slow. Hooked up to my computer, other wall chargers and the slowest one is my car charger. I even have a couple wall chargers that just straight up make my phone start doing weird stuff. Like I'm randomly hitting things on the screen.
Here is the scenario:
Motorola Droid - Original
1. Rooted 2.1, then
2. OTA Stock Update to 2.2, then
3. Seem to have lost root, However - I still have the Superuser Permissions Icon.
I use Barnacle for WiFi Tether - I get a "Permission Denied" error when I try to start the application. I also went into the terminal emulator and tried an "su" which also gave a permission denied response. I tried "sudo" and also got permission denied response. Others have told me this is common with this progression of events. However, How do I now ROOT 2.2 in this scenario?
I just rooted my stock froyo with it! If this has already been discussed.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI know there are many talks of multi-touch on the Droid, and I don't doubt it's existence but does anyone else notice that the touch screen keyboard is really slow?For example, I'll try to type something really fast and it'll only catch about 60% of what I type, which makes everything gibberish. It can't keep up. Not that I type extremely fast or anything. I can also see the keys I press popping up to let me know what letter I'm pressing but it still doesn't read it at times.

It doesn't always happen, and doesn't seem to matter the domain to which you are sending, even other gmail accounts. For example, I sent an email on a Friday, and it wasn't recieved until the following Monday. A friend of mine, another Droid user, sent an email to me and I didn't get it for three days. He too says he's noticed delayed mail delivery from the Droid. I've also noticed that sometimes the gmail icon opens a state of gmail from several days ago. I have to refresh the screen to get to 'current' data, even though I used gmail daily on the Droid.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having some weird issue with wifi tethering, i have 3-4 bars of 3G but no way to get online through wifi, but when i hook up USB tethering it works just fine, anyone know what could be causing the problem, also when i do get wifi to work its either very slow or it loses internet access, at the moment im using wireless tethering app off the market, ive tried barnicle wifi but my computer cant find the signal for some reason, i have tried different wifi channels, somewhere i read to set the MTU to 1200, but that doesnt help either, anyone know a solutition so im not stuck with usb

I am trying to see where this speed increase is because right now,as it has been all day,my phone lags,it takes forever for my icons on my home screen to come up when I exit an application,and I don't notice the browser being faster.it seems less responsive to touch(not like that with 2.1)and it has locked up a couple of times. What is going on?I thought froyo should make it run smoother?and I have done a couple of battery pulls already.

Even when my 3G light is on, and the down arrow is black, it just sits there.Sometimes the website will say no data connection available, but this is even when i have wifi turned on!I thought this was JuiceDefender so I uninstalled it, but I'm noticing I still have the same problem. I had my droid rooted for some time, running droid mod 1.0. All was well until recently the battery life turned to shit (followed all guides to resolve recent OTA update issues, but still shitty.) Because of this, I decided I would go back to stock, since I couldn't justify the rom's features if the battery would kick out after 16 hours. So I returned to stock no problem and received the OTA to upgrade to 2.1.
After getting the upgrade to 2.1, I wanted to at least have root access to run a few programs. I followed this guide:

to get SPRecovery back on my phone. Everything went well, it all checked out. After that I used SPRecovery to install the root update.zip. This worked fine, the root access app is in my tray and everything seems to be fine... HOWEVER when opening programs that require root access (setcpu and adfree are the ones I've tried) they say I don't have root access. I have tried reinstalling the update.zip file to no luck. USB debugging is ON. Is there a special update.zip to gain root on 2.1 (I saw no posts about that)? Is there some setting I missed this time around that I didn't the first time I rooted?
right now i am trying to transfer 2.85 gigs onto the droid, its going at 315kb/s. is it cause of the new froyo leak or is something else wrong? im using the stock cable with stock memory card in my stockings.

I use setcpu and even with it set at 12500, the phone will still act slow sometimes. For example, with a live wallpaper on, if I click to look at my apps, it stutters. If I take the live wallpaper off, its fine.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor the past couple weeks I've had the problem of the phone taking a long time to turn off. This started shortly after installing the 2.1 update. Tonight I turned the phone off and nearly ten minutes later I finally heard the shutdown sound. Sometimes it takes 3 minutes, sometimes later. I have found that if I don't hear the shutdown sound I can press the power button and the screen will come back on then it will shutdown.
Is anyone else having this problem? I'm not really sure what would be causing this problem because I've checked it before and haven't had any extra running services other than the keyboard and voice input services when it was turning off.
It works and all, but it's kinda weird. It's like the Droid has a diff way of putting together picture messages (like w/ .gif files and such). There's usually a pause, then it starts, but each transition is slow and then after it shows, you then get whatever messaged was typed in. My g/f sends me stuff from her LG Dare, and it's all put together as it should be. It's been this way for both the stock messenger and Handcent. Is there a preference option I need to tweak?

App for chatting like AIN or trillian do not connect long enough or well enough to talk to people. My service is also lagging as well as wifi. And my market is very very bad with loading. Any suggestions? I do not have an automatic task killer. And i do use juicedefender, but on days i leave it off i have the same problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm Running 2.2, CyanogenMod 6.0.0, using a Chevyno1 LV 1.0 ghz kernel with FRG22D.My home screens take forever to load after i do anything, from checking a text message, to reading the news on an app. It takes about 4 or 5 seconds to have all my widgets and icons load up. I'm OCing it to 1.0 ghz and it still loads slow. My phone performs fast overall except for this. I have five screens on my Launcher Pro home, and each one has just one widget. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? Can I clear any caches?
