I was rooted and decided to unroot for giggles. After i did I went to root again and now I am getting this: "E: cant open/cache/recovery,command " When I reboot into recovery mode.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI took unrooted my phone today because I was going to excange it for a new one because of a loose headphone jack but it turns out it was my headphones. I used SMupdater and it went fine. now when I try ot root again I get a "can't open cache/recovery/command" error in recovery and it wont let me select any of the options by hitting the camera button. idk what to do
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hit the top button. Flash Clockworkmod recovery or what ever it said. I then backed up my Current ROM. I then downloaded Cyanogen v6.0.0 cr2. It downloaded and rebooted my phone. But It went to a screen with a Triangle w/ exclamation and a phone under it. I then hit the up vol button and camera, and now I'm at the Android system recovery page and I don't know what to do next. These are my options reboot system now apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory rest wipe cache partition wipe base band data. I did click to backup current ROM and wipe data and cache.
View 38 Replies View RelatedFirst off let me say that I was wrong about this issue. Its not an issue with Easy root it is just something built into android. So I apologize to anyone I argued this subject with but specifically Patch. Its also not an issue with rom manager. This applys to users that after flashing a custom recovery they can boot into it once but the next time you try to boot into recovery it has reverted to stock.
This mostly happens to users of easy root or users that use my guide for rooting using Linux
So for the fix.
Download this file and place it in the root of your sd card.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7223192/install-recovery.sh
Download Terminal Emulator from the market. The one by the dev Jack Palevich.
Open it and type the following commands.
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
dd if=/sdcard/install-recovery.sh of=/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
chmod 550 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
sync
after that just flash the custom recovery of your choice and you should be good to go.
I tested this on my phone and another user tested it for me and it worked for both of us. If anyone has an issue let me know. This issue is so sporadic that its hard to have people test the fix.
Just rooted yesterday, and everything was running great... untill I installed Simply Stunning v4.3. I went to make a back up and found that I cannot access my recovery, it was stuck at the M. Now Rom Manager says that if this happens, flash a different recovery then flash clockwork back. Here is the catch- When I try to flash a different recovery I get this, "An error occurred while flashing your recovery."
View 9 Replies View Relatedim trying to install flash. Im running jrummy 1.0 with a 1mhz p3 kernal, I am using rom manager and when it tries to reboot into recovery it just hangs at the M screen. i have to pull the battery then i try to reboot into sprecovery using x and power button but i get the same thing. I flash sprecovery through rom manager but i cant go into it again then back to clockwork and same thing.
View 3 Replies View Relatedtrying to remain calm, but not doing a very good job. Just received a new replacement Droid, rooted it using easy root. Everything worked fine, I was able to restore all of my apps from TiB with no problem. Went to ROM Manager to install a new rom, but wanted to reboot into recovery first to ensure all was working okay, but never made it to the recovery menu, just got an exclamation point in a triangle with a phone symbol at the bottom. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop and I'm unable to get into Clockworkmod recovery, I have no idea what to do? Edit: okay, I have no idea how I did this, but I tried to go into recovery again and got the same exclamation in a triangle, but I decided to randomly hold down the Power button along with the camera button and hit the volume rocker and even with the symbol still showing, I got a recovery menu where I was able to reset and reboot and i still have root. Truly have no idea how I did this, but sometimes the sun shines on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola Droid will no longer boot into recovery. the last time I was able to access it was when I rooted. Please help. I have tried the recovery console command in adb shell. It did not change anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've never had a problem getting into recovery mode before but after reloading one of my Froyo ROM I can not get into recovery mode to change my ROM.This is the ROM I downloaded but I don't its proper name(Download Froyo (2.2) for Your Motorola Droid- for ROOTED users)I was trying to change P3 kernels using ROM Manager but it wasn't working this time so I figured to try to go to the recovery screen to do it. And then I just get stuck with the Motorola symbol while still holding my x and power. key
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell I was having a successful first day of rooting but ran into a snag... I went from 2.1 to 2.o I Have uploaded the root .zip file and that works I have installed busybox.. but I can not get the recovery image to what could I be doing wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used the directions to root my phone and install a recovery image from theunlockr.com how can i tell if ihave done the recovery image right before i start modding.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted awhile back and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I do seem to have one issue that I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere. (it's not stopping me from doing anything, just annoying)
When I use a tool such as rom manager and reboot into recovery my sdcard can never mount (or isn't mounted) and after a dozen or so attempts the phone reboots (which I then press X on the keyboard to get back into recovery - clockworkmod). So if I go into the partitions menu option and then mount the sdcard, I can then do zip installs from the card.
But nothing I've tried will allow me to reboot into recovery from an application in the phone since apparently my sd card isn't mounted or can't be mounted without manual intervention.
Do you think there might be an issue with my sdcard? I'm pretty sure that I used to be able to do this, but recently it stopped working.
I cannot get SPRecovery to recognize my DROID, thus I cannot install it (I have tried every tip known to man). Can I just rename a ROM to update.zip and do it the way I updated to Froyo? Why does this or does this not work and what are the consequences?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently trying to install the new sholes rom and I just figured out that I need to update my sprecovery to do this. I just don't remember how to update the sprecovery. I downloaded it from sholes.info. what do I do now to replace my old recovery.
View 31 Replies View RelatedI'm still using SPRecovery 99.1 (I believe), and I know that more current renditions are available, but is it worth the effort. The "other" site says that .3 is compatible with Sholes, but since I'm running Beast 7.6, is there any reason to update?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI heard there's a pre-rooted 2.1 image out there. Where can I find that? And I have SPRecovery installed, will installing the 2.1 image require me to reinstall SPRecovery?
Also, can SPRecovery then restore to and from 2.1 and 2.0.1?
while i was trying to clean up my directories (while running my mouth) i believe i deleted something that i wasn't supposed to. Now i can not reboot into recovery from either Rom manager or holding x while powering up. it just hangs on the M logo..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my phone in 2.0.1 because I've failed a few times to get the 2.2 update to work properly and installing 2.1 upon rooting takes too much time when you fail over and over.
With that said I tried installing 2.2 via the recovery. It unpacked installed etc. Then when it booted it now had a new opening splash. It just said android with some light going over it as if it were loading possibly? But it would blink as if to boot into something and just pop back up like it was resetting.
Then I noticed on mydroid they mentioned installing an update.zip file in order to use the sprecovery. Tried that on 2.01 then tried installing the 2.2 recovery via advanced recovery etc. Still just the android name continuously. I've succesfully gotten smoked glass working on this phone before. So I know my way around a little.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong? All the guides I'm finding have dead links so its been a real pain to find a straightfpward step by step.
My question is that logo means somethings wrong I'm assuming? And I did notice I had version 0.99.2b not 0.99.3b? like I had last time.

Version I tried installing.
If i rename a android backup folder will it still recognize it in recovery mode?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo every time I open up ROM Manager and click on anything it says "You must have CLockworkMod recovery installed before continuing! Install the recovery through ROM Manager first." Then gives an "Install" and "Cancel" button. What should I do. I have the bootstrap loader installed. Just upgraded to premium because I support the dev.
View 12 Replies View Relatedi formatted all partitions installed bbv0.4 again. now i cant get clockworkmod recovery to work. i have reflashed and it still hangs up on the white M screen everytime. i tried to hold x and power down and it did the same thing! i cant download anything from rom manager or backup my phone!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded one of chevys kernel an I was going to install this kernel hoping for better battery life. Before I did, I tried booting into recovery and all I got was the M symbol. I then tried flashing alternate recovery(sprecovery) and then went to boot into recovery an that still didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know if its related to that download of the kernel or what. But this is very frustrating knowing I don't have recovery.
