So I returned to stock, but when I rooted the guide I used didn't suggest I save my stock recovery flash. Now I need to return my droid (cracked screen) and I'd prefer there not to be any any problems with the warranty. So is there a way to get my recovery back to stock?

Seems like ROM Manager is coming alive pretty good lately. With the ability to flash other ROMs, flash different recovery images. Only thing is you need clockwork with ROM manager and I am not to keen on that. I starts with sprecovery so maybe I am just afraid of change or learning something new. Just seeing what everyone else is thinking. But ROM manager is a great tool, for people that like the greatest ROM and flash it.

So I just got my droid today, got it rooted, reflashed and booted the recovery image for the nandroid backup and performed a nandroid backup. This was all with the droid plugged into my computer.
Then I downloaded BB and when I went to do an nandroid restore i couldn't get it to boot into the new recovery mode...I keep getting the stock reboot symbols
anyone have any ideas? I just looked in my root of the SD card.....the nandroid folder is there, the back up I made is there, so is there a reason i am getting the stock recovery image when i hold down x and the power button?

this WILL wipe your phone. Make a backup prior to doing this and of course im not responsible, blah blah blah Don't be an idiot either, you must be on Froyo 2.2 to restore an image of 2.2. So, to the question (Can I use this to update my 2.1 and have root). I've noticed that most people that CAN'T run it (MD5 error) are people that did a factory reset. What i would suggest to anyone else reading this, is if you know you have factory reset on 2.2, this probably will not work (by all means try). BUT if you WANT to run it that bad, do a data wipe, and THEN sbf. Root 2.1, update to 2.2, install koush's bootstrapper and try again. that will probably work. Credits to krayzee1 on alldroid for posting this. Mike919 we now have a clockwork recovery backup that you can recover to your phone. What does this give me? well it gives you a way to restore your phone to its default state but it has already been rooted and deodexed. If you dont know what root or deodexed are then please search around the forums.

So I have a rooted Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: flash_image recovery /sdcard/file_name_here.img only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

I hit the top button. Flash Clockworkmod recovery or what ever it said. I then backed up my Current ROM. I then downloaded Cyanogen v6.0.0 cr2. It downloaded and rebooted my phone. But It went to a screen with a Triangle w/ exclamation and a phone under it. I then hit the up vol button and camera, and now I'm at the Android system recovery page and I don't know what to do next. These are my options reboot system now apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory rest wipe cache partition wipe base band data. I did click to backup current ROM and wipe data and cache.

First off let me say that I was wrong about this issue. Its not an issue with Easy root it is just something built into android. So I apologize to anyone I argued this subject with but specifically Patch. Its also not an issue with rom manager. This applys to users that after flashing a custom recovery they can boot into it once but the next time you try to boot into recovery it has reverted to stock.
This mostly happens to users of easy root or users that use my guide for rooting using Linux
So for the fix.
Download this file and place it in the root of your sd card.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7223192/install-recovery.sh
Download Terminal Emulator from the market. The one by the dev Jack Palevich.
Open it and type the following commands.
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
dd if=/sdcard/install-recovery.sh of=/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
chmod 550 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
sync
after that just flash the custom recovery of your choice and you should be good to go.
I tested this on my phone and another user tested it for me and it worked for both of us. If anyone has an issue let me know. This issue is so sporadic that its hard to have people test the fix.

Just rooted yesterday, and everything was running great... untill I installed Simply Stunning v4.3. I went to make a back up and found that I cannot access my recovery, it was stuck at the M. Now Rom Manager says that if this happens, flash a different recovery then flash clockwork back. Here is the catch- When I try to flash a different recovery I get this, "An error occurred while flashing your recovery."

You can test to make sure everything is working by going to a command prompt, go to the tools directory of the Android SDK, and type: "adb shell". If you see a "$" (or "#" if you're already rooted) sign you're good. i can't figure that out. what is directory of the android sdk? i think i know but im now sure. i did everything on the android sdk tutorial but it seems i was just doing it on my computer and not my phone. how do i know if it went on my phone? and how do i put it on my phone if i didnt do it. am i suppose to sync it of just connect it.

I've been trying to load amonRA's recovery for my nexus one. I've managed to unlock the bootloader, and gain SU permissions. But for the life of me,I cant seem to flash the new recovery image. I've used better terminal, and it says that theres no flash image found. But I have Put it on SD Card. I've copied the text correctly and I cant get it to flash. I've also tried to downgrade the radio to get better reception, and its saying that the update isn't signed. Is there something still locked up?

I just rolled back using simple root, and before I started flashing custom roms I wanted to flash Amon RA's recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img. I've tried flashing through terminal emulator, and that didn't work. I also tried flashing through adb. I have confirmed that I have root, but it's telling me that there is no image found. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to root my EVO, it's never been rooted before, but I'm stuck at the screen that says "Pushing recovery image." and it's been about 6 minutes now. During the rooting process, I wasn't allowed to install the HBoot drivers on my computer (I'm running windows 7, 32 bit) but I figured that maybe they were already installed on my computer because I have the android SDK installed..

My Evo is rooted, but I have lost my recovery image. Attempts to re flash recovery via ROM Manager and ADB both failed. I now have a task bar message saying the card is mounted read only. I put it in an adapter, plugged into my PC and ran Check Disk, which appeared to restore R/W status. I then put it back in the phone, rebooted and tried to flash a new image with ROM Manager, I have the read only issue again. I still have root, root apps still receive SU permissions, but I have no nand access and cannot re flash CWM or Amon.

I rooted my phone a while back and I am trying to update the recovery image. I think the recovery image I have downloaded (recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2) has some extra options such as being able to flash the radio which is what I want to do. I have updated my rom to 2.1 by copying the image accross and naming it update.zip and booting into recovery and applying the update. That is fine and I am now running SenseHERO-2.1_signed-update. I have tried using flashrec but it fails with "cannot run command" and I think it is because I already have a patched recovery image. What is the best thing to do? Can I update my recovery image manually from the command line? Can I update the radio in the same way? Have I misunderstood the procedure?
