I thought this thread might be a good way for developers to see the type of apps that people want, and hopefully write them.
I would like an app that shows me on a map which cell tower my phone is using, signal strength, etc.

First off, I read these forums like every day for 2 months (nearly drove my wife insane!) leading up to the release of the X. Stood in line and bought one in the store on the 15th. Had nothing but iPhones until now - loving my DroidX!
BUT
As of right now my battery is down to 60% after having been unplugged (when I unplugged I was at 100%) for 1hr 46m 9s!
It shows display at 93% and cell standby at 7%.
I'm running smart battery mode, auto screen brightness, not that many widgets, and I rooted it and have autokiller running on Aggressive.
Do I just have a bad battery? And if so will Verizon (or Moto) give me a new one?
does this work on the hero. I see the icon in the notifications bar but Google maps is saying i have to turn on the actual gps. if that is the case what is the setting to allow network to determine location for. I did some searching with mixed responses some people say cell triangulation works on sprint and some say it doesn't. and some say it just the newer version of google maps that it doesnt work with.. Im hoping its just the towers near my home. I will double check when im in a different location. anyone have it working with Google maps?***Update***** had the wrong setting ticked i figured it out a few minutes after i posted this. next time ill spend at least an hour before posting a useless new thread.

There is a method getBitmap(ContentResolver cr, Uri url), but i don't know how to get the Uri of one certain image.
With phones like the Droid that can do a million things, and have unlimited apps, there are different benefits that people get from their phones. I know that the number 1 thing I use my cell phone for is Internet access, number 2 is actually using it to take and place calls.What things do you use it for the most? View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not entirely sure this is even possible, but I am attempting to figure out if it is possible to watch live feeds from the droid to a computer. I ask because I im a dallas cowboys fan that lives in New York so most games aren't broadcast. The nfl mobile app lets me watch live feeds and games, but as you can imagine the screen is only so big. I'd like to watch the video on my computer screen. Is this possible or should I just look for some website that would ultimately do the same thing?

I do have a problem though: My house is in the same town as a non-verizon CDMA tower (US Cellular) and very far away from the nearest Verizon tower. With my other Verizon phones (older handsets), they just connect to the close tower and have full signal all the time without any issues. My Droid, on the other hand, will always try to stay connected to the distant Verizon tower - it can be very difficult and frustrating to make calls with the Droid because there is often no signal and the phone is unable to place a call. I don't need the 3G at home, as the Droid can use my wireless for browsing, etc. How can I get the Droid to stop trying to connect to the distant Verizon tower and connect to the nearby partner tower instead (so that I have high-quality phone signal at home)? I have called Verizon and Motorola and nothing seems to help.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI would like to have the cell network type displayed while I am connected to WiFi in the status bar signal cluster. Currently, once you connect to WiFi, the LTE, H, E, etc, go away; I'd like them to stay.
I can move the WiFi icon over to make room for the type icon (LTE, H, E, etc) just by deleting "android:layout_marginRight="-6.0dip"" at the end of the "id/wifi_combo" line in res/layout/signal_cluster_view.xml in SystemUI.apk.
Where is the function that turns off that cell type icon when WiFi is connected in SystemUI.apk? I know the system can detect the type of network whilst WiFi is connected, it's just a matter for forcing that icon to stay displayed.
I am trying this on Cyanogenmod 11.

Query: Can GPS enabled apps, work on the phone, without cell serivce. IE can you pre-load say all the US map and POI info into the phone so it can be used as a standalone GPS in the middle of no where.

People cannot hear me on speaker phone. I'm not sure if it's because I SBF'ed back to stock, which may be different than when I first got the phone? Other than that, my phone is perfect. I would hate to have to go through a refurb. I was wondering if it was possibly a software issue.

When she is on the phone talking it is constantly, muting her voice or something cuz no1 can hear her. she just got the phone less than a week ago. I read online and found a bunch of stuff about the proximity sensor and the software issues, however those were all dated last year around winter time. So I am trying to see if there is a current fix for it. I see on the forums people have some problems with hardware on their incredibles but I didn't see a thread for the droid. Basically she can hear people talking but no1 can hear her and it happens like every other phone call.

A newline should be allowed by pressing "12#" and then the newline key.Messages app should show the type of phone number (e.g. home or cell) when suggesting contacts in the "To" field, and should know to default to the cell phone. It has the best facebook app on its homepage and IMO it is way superior to any out there.The browsing is super fast and you have the ability to download videos from your favorite sites to your sd card. Probably my favorite app side from personal assistant.

I don't want to lug a laptop down there but want to stay connected to email. Do you know if there's any issue using WiFi without cell service?I don't have a desire to be using the cell phone service while I'm there; email will be enough.
