Anyone else experience a delay of about 5 seconds within touchdown for it to pull up contact name suggestions. For example. Compose email- type in last name of person to add to the "To" field. Take about 5-7 seconds for the name suggestion to come up from the contact list.

I know that they were listed in my contacts so I looked them up and to my suprise they were gone. As I looked around I found that ALL my Starred "favorite" contacts were missing. I checked online at the Google website and found the same names missing from my contact list. It was only the Starred names thet were missing. Has anyone else ran into this problem or know why it may have ate my Starred contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to send a text message today to a friend named Jamie and when I scrolled through my contacts and click on Jamie I see two numbers. One is for Jamie and the other is for James. The problem is only Jamie shows up in my contact list. Luckily, I had my old phone and I was able to see which number belonged to who. I tried deleting both contacts and re-adding but the same thing happened. Can anybody else confirm this or is there some setting that I am unaware of (ie. group similar names)? Not a huge deal just curious.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have been using the native email app for both synching with my exchange outlook server and handling a separate POP email account. This works fine for most of my needs, but I have a few glitches that I'm trying to figure out. I would like to be able to sync my outlook exchange task list and the standard email app doesn't do this I would like to have my email sorted in the same order with subfolders as I have on my PC, but the Hero sorts the folders in random order without proper sub folder hierarchy. would like to have some flexibility in how my contacts are sorted and displayed.Is anyone using Touchdown on their Sprint Hero? How do you like it? and does it address these issues?

We are running on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 (on Small Business Server 2008). The phones that are using activesync in our office have to enter a password every time they are brought out of screen saver or sleep mode.This is very annoying and I don't want this. I am currently connecting via my company's Outlook remote web access, not directly to the server. No password entry required. So far, this is working for me. Updates to emails, contacts and calendar are immediate. Emails arrive on the phone typically before they appear in my Outlook.Now, what I am looking for in the way of improvements:
1.Adding a signature to my emails (required for FINRA and SEC compliance).
2. Fixing contacts so they are listed by last name. They are currently in first name order when viewed on the DROID (not in Outlook).
3.Ability to accept meeting invites this is a minor issue.
After the Touchdown update I can't get any of my notifications to vibrate for either email or SMS. The phone will still vibrate. I emailed Touchdown and they said that they have heard some things about the vibrate issue but have not been able to duplicate the problems, he recommended a reboot which after two times has not done anything to help the situation. I have to have the vibrate settings for work so I'm screwed without them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have never been able to sync past calendar events using the stock 2.1 Exchange (Outlook) sync. I only get past events for the last month. Yes, I have "sync all events" turned on. Any calendar event older than 30 days will not display or sync.
I spent 1.5 hours with Motorolla tech support today (live chat) trying to solve this to no avail. The tech said the problem is on my company's Exchange server. I said the bug is in Android 2.1. Example: my iPod touch syncs everything with the Exchange server including past events.
Just now I installed Touchdown on my Droid X. Everything sync'ed - all events, past, present and future. They display nicely in the Touchdown calendar display.
These past events still will not display in any of the stock calendars.
Can anyone give feedback on how to interact with those that are responsible for updating the Android OS? I seriously need updates ti inlcude PIN and remote wipe for exchange email. Corporate wont allow me access, even with Touchdown, until Android updates... may have to go back to iPhone.

I also synced with the Gmail contacts and slowly I'm merging them. how the hell do I export the contacts to a new fresh CSV as I make changes on the phone? Does Motorola want me to use Motoblur forever? They don't have an export feature anywhere on their site.

The browser will start and then stop when u tell it to go somewere then after a dew sec it takes back off. Text message when u bring it up it takes about 10 sec to load then another lag to start typing and there wont be any old messages in box and when they do finally come up u can't scroll threw the old ones.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI wasn't an idiot and pulled it out on purpose. But maybe from pulling it from having my phone rooted is the cause. Anyways, its gone. Does anyone have any fixes? I was thinking of putting scotch tape around the battery with a little slack from both ends on the one side, so I have a non sticky homemade "pull tab". It should work but just wondering if anyone has a better idea I'm not thinking of.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have some questions concerning importing contacts to the device, which is extremely slow.
First of all, if you delete all your contacts, google sync will restore it very quickly. However, when my app is adding contacts to the device, it's very slow (a few contacts per second). Even if I add almost empty contacts (with name only), it is a time-consuming process.
If I turn google sync off, importing 5000 contacts can take 1-2 hours (on HTC Magic). When google sync is on it can take up to 24hours. And this happens despite the fact, that application for the whole time is in the foreground, device is connected to charger and screen is on. I checked the logcat to make sure my app is adding the contacts the whole time, and it is.
I tried different methods and different devices. The results differ of course, yet manually adding contacts is always significantly slower that google sync. Is there any way that I can speed up the process? So that importing 5000 contacts will take less than an hour.
I just recently rooted my phone, using the cyanogenmod rc3 with a chevy 1ghz kernel. When im looking at my applications whether it be at the home screen or in the pop up that shows them all. Some of them dont show the full application name. For example, Rom manager only shows Rom Man...

I just have this last question. After "freezing" and/or removing some of the crapware, do I need to do a Factory Reset, or, can I just do a Battery Pull?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI mentioned this in another thread but thought it might garner more attention here. I keep seeing people indicate that this or that problem is fixed by a "battery pull." While I understand that a frozen/unresponsive phone must have its battery pulled in order to get it to reboot, I am failing to see what this accomplishes when your phone is functional. Is there something that a battery pull does that shutting down your phone does not do? I was trying to work it out in my head and couldn't come up with anything. Memory is cleared when you power it down. Cache is stored on the flash card, so that doesn't go away. Nothing stays powered up during the shutdown. So, help me out here. What does it do, that holding down the power button and selecting "Power Off" does not do?

He is telling me to look in my settings under wireless & networks and tell him what I have for APN's. Well the thing is I don't even have anything in there! View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter you get done doing a nandroid backup, and you go in with an application like Astro, make sure there aren't any spaces in the folder name. Nandroid does not like that. Took a backup, tried a different ROM, didn't like it so went to go and restore my backup, wouldn't restore. It wouldn't get by the MD5 sum check. I just happened to notice there was a space in the name, mounted the memory card, removed the space, rebooted back into recovery and attempted to to the restore again, and success. Just a little tidbit of information I ran into first hand.

I have a "Ringtones" folder on my SD with my own, but the ROMs carry theirs internally and once you change ROMs, so do the ringtones. I haven't looked yet, but would they possibly be in the ROM zip file and could I just pull them out of the zip to my computer? I guess I will look now, but let me know if this is the right way or if something else works better. Ultimately I would like to pull off all system ringtones so I can condense to my own and ones I have selected. It's overwhelming sometimes given that I don't and won't ever use 70% of the stock tones.

Certain applications, the two I think I've noticed doing it so far, were weather bug, and temp monitor. That have on going notifications, will randomly cause my phone to not turn back on from sleep. I have to do a battery pull just to get the phone back up.
