id get calls and texts from people on my contact list and only the phone number shows up, not the name! I have rebooted twice, and done a batter pull. Still nothing.

when ever i get a text or call the blue lock screen pops up and STAYS like that unless i dismiss the screen or look at the text, how do i make it like idle or dim? When posting your question it is highly recommend to specify your:

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have had my HTC Desire for 3 or 4 weeks now and I am determined to like it. I'm stuck with it for 24 months so I have to!! However, synching with my outlook contacts and calendar seems to be a very hit and miss affair. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am running Vista 32 bit on a Vaio laptop with outlook 2003 (I hope to move to google apps soon but it feels like a big job to do it so i need enough time to work it all out). I downloaded HTC synch from the web but that didn't work so I used the version on my phone and that seemed to work better! I am using HTC Sync, version: 2.0.28. I always start HTC Synch first and then connect the phone. i select the synch option on the phone, but it usually fails to connect at that point. If I then a wait a little, and if I am lucky, it seems to connect itself and the Application installer icon pops up on the HTC Synch screen. then i can try again to synch. And sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This is a lot of messing about - i wish it would just work - is there anything i can do? Also, when i receive texts from kid's school or my bank, the phone seems to assign random names from my contacts list. How weird is that? Any ideas for a cure? I have also found that it can be extremely slow to load videos on youtube. at the weekend i was with someone who had a iphone on the same network in the same place and they had no problem. Grrrrr!! often when it fianlly gets the video and starts to play it it stops halfway through - data is obviously not coming through quickly enough. Is there anything i can do to help this. Finally I am very disappointed that it can't make phone calls as well as my old Nokia 6230. same place, same network, perfect on the old phone, dropping out and bad reception on the HTC. The old phone worked fine in the local supermarket, The HTC simply says NO NETWORK. Have i got a bad phone or is this typical?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan someone explain to me why my phone is showing 2 different ROM names. the ACTUAL ROM thats installed is Aloysius and i know this becuase the icons and layout difference between Fresh and Aloysius.
if you look under CURRENT ROM in RM it says Fresh, but under Build, it says the Aloysius. Both updates are available for the ROMs and i dont know which one to do.
Does the droid have the same app or something similar to the iphone? I like how the contacts picture for incoming calls takes up the whole screen. Please tell me there is an app. Im pretty sure im not the only one looking for this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI couldn't find a thread that addressed this, sorry if it's been asked before!Here is my question: Is there a way to display the EXACT time of a call or text on the Ally and not just have it say 'yesterday' or '2 hours ago', etc. I can't find it in any settings and I can't seem to find an app for it. With my job I have to fill out a very detailed field report requiring exact times I spoke with someone, did something, etc. and I used to use my text messages as a way to keep record of this. If there is a way to do this it could make my life much easier!Disclaimer: After reading several posts here I see that I'm pretty technologically impaired in the span of droid users, so go on and treat me like I don't understand you're computer lingo because you're probably right. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm all about being able to link a contact to their facebook page which shows their pics, etc.However, I have only been able to link a contact to a facebook contact by entering their full name.I have many contacts that I have as nicknames or as Bank Erica, if it's Erica from the bank..Is there a way to link 'Bank Erica' to her actual 'Erica Bxxxx' facebook page? I would assume that you could use email to do this, but have not found a way. Please advise if there is something I am missing or if there is an app that fixes this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my EVO has decided to stop accepting any incoming calls, texts, or voice mails. I was only able to receive these messages when I was able to get a call to connect and I got a flood of voice mails and texts as if it hadn't been connected to the network the entire time. It also does this thing where it doesn't connect the call when I dial someone. Instead of connecting and seeing the time duration for the call appear, it instead takes forever to connect and just says dialing for a really long time. It was doing it last night, and then this morning it seemed to be normal again, but now it's doing it again. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I won't have time to go to sprint until Monday and this is really irritating me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is the only phone that it's ever happened to. Since I got the Droid, I've been missing calls. Not like I have missed calls. The only calls that are okay are the ones that I make. Everyone is telling me that when they call me it rings about 3 times and then just hangs up. Like I ignored it but didn't go to vmail. However, none of these calls are going through at ALL so I'm not ignoring the calls.
Also, everyone is texting me saying that I never texted them back when I know I did.
Can you receive calls and texts while on wifi.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere's actually a phone made by Fujitsu that's similar in that it can be booted into the full desktop windows 7 32 bit by the switch of a button. The downside I see to it is that when you are running it the phones radio is turned off so you can't receive calls or texts also the phone UI is some proprietary Fujitsu software. Needless to say it looks pretty lame compared to Android but nevertheless it's still pretty awesome looking. Here's a few links: URLs....

When I try to ring someone it just beeps and ends the call. When someone rings me it says unavailable. Nor can i send or receive texts. Everything worked OK. Today I tried Cyanogen and it seemed to work OK. I've tried to install a couple of themes. One worked and one didn't.
I don't know when, but my phone will now not send or receive texts or calls. I still have a 3G data connection (back to MoDaCo) and the internet and Market work fine.
I really don't know what to do. The recovery image "recovery-ra-nexus..." seems to have disappeared from the bootloader. The phone isn't bricked so I guess that there is a way out of this?
SO I've restored my first Nand Backup which is the recovery image ra-nexus-v1.7.0.
It quoted restore complete. I backed up and rebooted. Weird thing is it boots up into Cyanogen ROM!!! And now I have no service, NOTHING!
I'm hoping to get some experts help here.
I am going to be using the ustream broadcaster app over 3g to stream a concert this weekend.
I do not want the app to be interrupted by anything while im using it.. no phone calls, no txt and no notifications. As it is now if a phone call comes through it will interrupt the app to take the call. If I decline the call the stream will not restart by itself. I know i can turn off different apps notifications but how can I go about not letting phone calls or txts through?
I cant just put it into airplane mode since i need 3g and im a little lost on what options I would have.
I missed mytouch from when I had tmobile and got the Samsung intercept from sprint(back to my old plan) and I love it. However I've always loved on sprint phones being able to customize absolutely everything. I could make a ringer for someone when they call(which yes, I know how to do this on my android and have) but I also was able to make a special text/sms/notification ringtone for individuals as well. I only like hearing the message alert for certain people and then silent/vibrate for everyone else so it's getting frustrating. Are there any apps that do this? or any way to at all?

Just got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.
I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.
I activated my phone Friday night (2 days ago) and started using the phone only on Saturday morning. A few calls are going through but almost ALL are being disconnected back to the previous/home screen after one or two rings -- INCLUDING, now, *611 and *228. Called tech services this morning and am now on hold (15 min. so far!), from a land line. Texts from my family have not shown up, since yesterday and this morning. Did a soft reset this morning.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone and put fresh 1.1 on it a couple days ago, it received calls after rooting, but recently it stopped receiving calls, and it never received texts or visual voice mails. Gmail still pushes new email to it, and the internet works fine to update things and look at websites.
I tried to restore with nandroid and it took fresh off of it but it still doesn't do text, don't know about calls but i doubt it. also when i rooted it i removed sprint tv, nascar, foot prints and a couple other stock apps. after i found it wasn't getting texts i removed advanced task killer, but it didn't have any effect.
