I am using android's default camera to click images from within my app. I want to stop the click sound that it does on clicking an image. Is there a way to stop that click sound pragmatically?

I find the camera sound very annoying on my phone, and even if it's on silent, it plays the camera sound. This is how to remove the camera sound.
1. Using a file explorer, I recommend es file explorer or root explorer, go to /system/media/audio/ui and there you will see 2 camera files.
2. Copy and Paste them into your sd card, then delete them from /system/media/audio/ui
3. This will keep your phone from making the camera noise.

What I have here is a simple button that plays a looped sound while it's pressed. It works great. However, sounds.autoPause(); wasn't introduced until API 8 and I really need something that is cupcake compatible (API 3) So i was going through the dev reference site filtered by API 3 stuff and i saw pause so i figured i'd try sounds.pause(sound); but it doesn't stop the sound when i release it. (Maybe i'm just using it wrong?) Does anyone know of a cupcake friendly way to stop this sound? thanks!

I've just released my 2nd application: Sound Camera. It lets you take a photo using a noise rather than pressing the button.
The idea is, if you want to take a self-portrait, or be in a group photo, you can set the camera up, and when you're in position you just clap. (Or make some other noise)
It also has a countdown timer, in case you don't want to make a noise. And you can also take a photo by just touching the screen.
It seems to work pretty well on my G1, and a friend has tried it on a Hero. I hope it'll be of use to people. If anyone has any comments or feedback, and can report successes or failures on other Android phones, I'd be most grateful.

1. after taking a picture, and clicking on the thumbnail to view it, have the phone let you view it in portrait, not landscape only.
2. on board image resizing, the 5, 3 and 2mp options dont cut it. let us choose 640x480(all MP's), 800X600(all MPs) 1024x768, etc..
3. when in camera settings, when you click back to get back to the options it closes the whole settings slider. which is annoying.
I hope nobody's already answered this somewhere -- I've been searching for a few days now with no luck. I'm wanting to disable the audio in received mms messages. I absolutely loath those messages that scream, blare music, say offensive stuff, etc. With my old Lotus, you actually had to choose to play the attached audio, but I can't find anything anywhere to set this on my new Evo. If anyone knows how to either make the audio in messages manual instead of automatic, or just disable their audio completely, I'd be eternally grateful to learn this!
