For the regular texting you can send a copy of 1 text to 10 people, on google voice I dont see an option for more than 1.
Online however I see that 4 is the max.
Can I somehow send to more than 1 person via the GV app on my inc?

I recently returned to android. I was hoping this issue with google voice had been worked out, especially as I am about to do a full convert/port to google voice.
So the same contact will text me but often times google voice will create multiple threads making it very annoying to sift through them on the Voice SMS Inbox. It does this also on my browser window. Its not 100% of the time, but almost seems like if its a text on another day, another thread is made. Is there a way to fix this or merge the threads under the same contact?
I got google voice to route all of my calls but im not sure if text messaging is going through it for free? I didn't find any settings to change my messaging.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Google Voice. When I get an incoming text, I don't get any notification for it. I have inbox notifications checked, but it doesn't happen until I manually open the GV inbox, or sometimes not until I open the inbox and the specific conversation the message was a part of. This is true, even 8 hours later. So if I don't check my GV inbox/conversations for 8 hours, the phone gives me no notification of a message. I know this is not normal because a month ago I was having no problem with this. Could it be that I started using ADW Launcher a couple weeks ago? I haven't heard of any issues with this caused by ADW before Another thing I've experienced weird is the Gmail app. This morning I received 2 e-mails at about 7 and 8 a.m., though again I got no notification in the status bar and I had no idea I'd received the e-mails until I manually checked the Gmail app, even though notifications are enabled. This hasn't been a problem until a couple days ago. Thirdly, sometimes a friend will text my GV number and it will send to make phone's message inbox, not to GV. This only happens with one contact, and even then not all the time. My friend says he sends all of the texts to the same number, but I suspect he has my old number still in his phonebook and sometimes he just selects the wrong number, so I don't suspect it to be related, but this issue started happening at the same time as the other notification issues, so I thought I should include it.I would be very grateful for any help/advice you guys could provide!

The idea is to use a couple old Android phones as a home phone system.
Is anyone else noticing that the three "built-in" groups in Google Voice: Friends, Family and Coworkers are NOT synced? These are my three biggest groups. I'm sure I could create duplicate groups, but that seems silly. Can anyone confirm the same behavior and/or suggest something to get these groups syncing properly?

I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding
an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM
with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -

I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
I have done a search for this and I have not found answer. I have inadvertently created some of my contacts as phone contacts instead of google contacts. The main negative of this is that I can not sync these contacts. Does anyone know of way to change the contact type? My phone is rooted if that makes a difference.In another thread relating to this someone mentioned an app that fixes this but I could not find it. Does anyone know of the app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter playing with my Incredible for many many many hours, just found a really sweet trick.In the favorites widget i have people with multiple numbers(cell, phone), and when you click on that person it calls the primary number, but last night i found that if you click the actual name of the contact(right under the actual pic) a detail properties pop up for that contact and from there you can callsmsemail the person via other numbers.now back to looking for more cool things

But he was asking what about the people who already text him at his regular number. So I was wondering can you get Google Voice to redirect texts to your regular number to your Google Voice number so it would be free. Is that possible? Or would he have to give out his Google Voice number to everyone?

As far as I know, when you install GV you signup and then get a #, from there I give that # to everyone to text me (not my cell phone #) and GV just stays on in the back ground all the time waiting for texts?

I had my number ported to Google Voice and have been using it to make and receive calls for the past two weeks. I was also using it for texts, or so I thought, but yesterday I found out (by looking at my friends phone), that after I sent him a text, my carrier's number was the one that showed up as the sender, instead of my Google Voice.
I thought Google Voice automatically used your Google Voice number for texts too? Am I doing something wrong in the middle?
I finally got GV visual voicemail working using my carrier number as my GV number. it took 2 days of frustration.now, from what I understand, i should be able to use GV to send text/SMS messages.is that true?when i launch GV app, i don't have any options to compose messages. how is that supposed to work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Google Voice on my Env Touch for about a year now but only mainly for the sms transcriptions as the Env Touch doesn't have an app for it.
So, here's my main problem. All of my contacts are just in my phone. I don't have anyone's email address as all I do mainly is txt people or send them a message on facebook. I'm wanting to add all of my contacts to my gmail account so when I get my Incredible everything will be there. Right now my sms from GV just has the number and I actually don't know any of my friends numbers, they're just in my phone. *yes, technology can be a sort of burden at times* So I don't have a clue who the voicemail is from until I call into it. Is there any easy way of porting all these contacts from either my phone, backup assistant, or facebook? Also, do android phones take your contacts and your facebook and merge them into your gmail account?
I was wondering if anyone has been using Google Talk exclusively for SMS and ditched their texting w Verizon all together. I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have uninstalled all my sms messaging apps except for the default HTC messaging app. Every time I receive a text message, I get 2 audio notifications, and there are two icons on the notification bar. When I pull it down, one of the notifications sends me directly to the message, and extinguishes one of the icons. The other icon simply says "you have an unread message", and when I click on it nothing happens, and the icon never goes away (unless you hit clear) on the notification pull down menu.It seems to me like I have two messaging programs installed, but I have gone over the list of apps for an hour and can't seem to find it.If it helps, the icon looks like a postcard, with a vertical line down the middle., black and white.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to be on GV 100% (voice, txt, whatever else GV provides) the problem wiht this so far is that i get duplicate text messages - which is annoying the reason for my frustration as i see it is that GV is not as integrated into the phone the same way voice calls are - when you dial out, it goes out through my GV number, not my number from my carrier now, i could send a txt to someone using google's GV widget, but the problem with that is i lose the ability to click on the Messages button in the contact's info page (see pg 36 in the manual) and see my entire text history with that client bummer however, as a result of this whole stock-message-app-draining-the-battery "thing" i've jumped onboard the handcent bandwagon turns out, handcent stores its messages in the phones database/memory/whatever so that the text history is retained and accessible via that Messages button in the contact info page! nice! now.. if only you could send OUT to GV's system through these 3rd party messaging apps (thus avoiding GVs app and its inability to save/store txt msg history in the contacts page), we would be set!
Well, today i learned that when a person sends you a txt through the GV service (ie - they send you a text to your GV number), it appears to you as a 406 area code (see here - read TuXian's post) and furthermore, you can save that number in the contact's info page and send to that person using that number its not "perfect" because its not "seamless" -- the end user has to THINK - and DO SOMETHING for this system to work which is okay for us "techies" and "enthusiasts" - but for the general public, that's not gonna cut it but it seems to work at this point either HTC needs to improve teh Sense UI to incorporate content generated in the GV widget/app, or google needs to store its data in the Hero's file structure.... but this is definitely "kludgy" and they will need to a better job if they expect to rival apple and the iphone in a meaningful and significant way (ok, where did that little rant come from!)
