I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm running a custom rom. Maybe that has something to do with it.

So i am finally able to remove my setting to forward sms to email so that i get it immediately !! Now if they would start doing mms i can cancel my verizon txting totally..

Note: I would primarily use AIM.
Need to know how I can save instant messages on my Droid. I am using the Meebo IM client. This is very important as some are work related and I need to be able to recall them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've purchased a droid and realized it doesnt have a preinstalled instant message app (aim yahoo etc) like the hero or g1 does...my friend sent me an .apk file from his hero, i tried to install using astro but it doesnt work. is there a way to download an instant messenger that is NOT meebo, ebuddy etc..nothing is in market.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at buying the X tomorrow at a Corporate Store, rather then a Wireless Zone store. The main issue right now is, my dad does not want to spend $600 for 2 phones (YES I KNOW THERE IS A REBATE), so technically it would only be $400, but the rebate would take at least 2 weeks. One of my friends told me that if you pay for the phone at a Corporate Store, rather than a store like Verizon Wireless Zones is that you get an Instant Rebate. If its possible to get an instant rebate at a Corporate Store, this would be 10x easier on my dad, knowing he will get an instant rebate, and it would only be $400 give or take right up front.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI just pre ordered my DROID by calling into Verizon Wireless Sales, their main number and they give the instant rebate over the phone if you do it over the phone ... so yeah just wanted to give a heads up.
I won't be getting my phone on friday, anyone who pre orders over the phone will NOT get your phones on friday, it would be like tuesday or wed...
I'm actually fine with waiting because i know i will get one.
Another FYI- the verizon rep over the phone said they have 65,000 units to sell for PHONE sales... this is seperate then what best buy and verizon stores are getting..
If you download the free app called "wifi analyzer", it can help you make an instant wifi connection with the Droid X.
As some of you have reported (and I have personally experienced), it can take too long for the phone to connect/reconnect with your home wifi signal.
Solution:
Toggle on Wifi, then immediately open Wifi Analyzer. For some reason, it forces the handshake almost instantly.
You're connected. And in a fraction of the time compared to if you let the X just run its course.
I am a new Motorola Droid user. My phone came with 2.0.1 installed. I installed Instant Root 1.04 and attempted to run it but got a message "unble to gain access". I started down this road because I wanted to backup my phone so I could do a hard reset. So installed "Titanium Backup". It wouldn't run because my rom wasnt rooted. So i have spend 4 hours researching and each item i find leads me to another issue or program to install. Most everything seems to involve rooting. One question I have is if there is a difference between 2.0.1 preinstalled an 2.0.1 ota?
For background I wanted to reset the phone because none of the 3rd party contact or phone dialing packages will read the native phone list or contacts. I owned a Omnia i910 and did a considerable amount of customization on it to I am reasonably familiar with digging around in the guts for a general user.
I'm running NexBeast ESE81 OC'd to 1100mhz (Running idle around 23c). I've had no issues whatsoever and, in fact, have been on this ROM since the day it was released (a record for me). However, this morning my phone was fully charged and sitting on my desk when it suddenly dropped to 5% charge. I panicked, rebooted the phone, and it now says 70% charged. What could have caused this? I searched and found someone had a similar issue but no one seemed to know a fix. My phone is running fine now, but I want to avoid further issues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave any of you ever clicked on the "I'm Feeling Lucky Mix" button which creates a mix based on your music taste?
this is a great and excellent feature to have. I've clicked on it multiple times, and now I have multiple instant mixes.but how do you delete an instant mix? I have these instant mix playlists now, and I don't want them anymore.
I thought I had deleted them somehow previously (don't ask, I can't remember), and what's even stranger is that when I click on "Listen Now" 'All Music', I see all my music there, however, I also see Instant Mixes, I don't want them in there anymore.
When I go to http:[url]....and login, and click on "Instant Mixes", THERE ARE NONE ! When I click on "Listen Now", there are none in there also!, this is how it should be on my cellphone/tablet as well.Yet on my tablet, when I view All Music by clicking "Listen Now", I see them in there.clicking on the 3 dot menu doesn't get rid of them because there is no remove option, no delete option either.
How google + select files for instant upload?
Will it upload new movies transferred to the device via USB transfer mode to the google + gallery?
Currently I see that the wallpapers I download gets uploaded to google +, but if this happens to movies, that is bad.
Just wondering if there's an aim app for the droid? any recommendations if so?

View 3 Replies View RelatedYou know that Google+ Instant Upload photos don't count against your storage, but do you want that free storage for any photo at all? Here is a little workaround
Simple, but effective: just hook your phone up to your computer and drag and drop any photos you want into your phone's camera folder and, viola, they are treated like newly taken photos and uploaded to G+. (or use a file manager right on your phone to copy and paste there). Then, just delete those photos from the camera folder afterwards.
Now, keep in mind that they will be reduced to the "free upload" pixel limit of 2048, just like any other instant uploads, but for many of us, our camera phone pictures are not much bigger anyway.
Extra pro-tip: videos are also "free storage" and they don't reduce their quality at all. You can really maximize your free G+ storage with video.
On the ERIS is there any instant messenger client that doesn't drain the battery excessively ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo before I start, let me say that I have tried this on my wife's Vibrant and my own captivate I get a lock immediately in google maps.
After seeing skyhook in the LbsTest settings I decided to look further into what skyhook is. I read the article below: Samsung to Put Skyhook on Mobile Devices - Midmarket from eWeek
So I thought hey... there are lots of wifi networks around where I live I wonder if it would help if I turn my wifi on.
I get an almost instant lock accurate to 50 meters (good enough for navigation). I have tried it over and over and when I turn off wifi, I get an accuracy of 1700 meters. Turn it back on and get accuracy to 50 meters.
It works indoors and out.
I just noticed that for this to work YOU MUST HAVE "USE WIRELESS NETWORKS" CHECKED under location and security then turn on Wifi (you don't have to connect to any networks). My guess is it narrows down your location based on Cell tower triangulation, then uses wifi to narrow it down.
Here is a blury, crapy, video I made of it:
YouTube - Fix for Captivate/Vibrant GPS issues using Wifi
I'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGoogle Phones were handed out to all Google employees. The phone is apparently going to be sold directly by Google and apparently available in January. I'm not sure who the attorneys for Verizon are, but Google must have done some deft negotiations to be able to pull this off. They just shafted Motorala, Verizon - and us - in the butt. I'm pretty sure, post Christmas, Droid updates and fixes will become non-existent as Google focuses on their own offering. Google is indeed Microsoft with a crayola logo.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDon't get me wrong, I think its great what they are doing by integrating search with all the "smartphone features", along with trying to bust up the Mirosoft entrenchment, but it seems like they can potentially have access to too much personal info. I know much, if not all of Google access can be turned off, but if you want to use the phone to its fullest, everything you do can be stored/monitored on a Google server.
- If you want to transfer contacts from a non Android phone, list has to go to Google for conversion (Exchange excluded).they know who you associate with.
- Turn on GPS, use for application and search assistance.they know where you are.
- Create custom maps and use Nav they know your habits and where you're going.
- Calendar they know when you're going to go.
- Use search/browse history to aid Google in helping you find what you're looking for they know what you like.
- GDocs, stored online they know what you're working on.
- "Backup my settings".they know how you use your phone, and copies of personal files store on the phone (full flash of phone and SD card, still got wallpaper back then some?).
- You want a decent POP3 mail app, "have" to use Gmail they have all your personal email.
I understand that being able to get free "stuff", there has to be some sort of give/take, but working in IT and being the cynic that I am, I can't help but think that this phone was rolled out more for Google's benefit than ours (read, Data Mining). But I'm more concerned about a security breach given that so much personal info is stored in one spot.
I've rooted my DIncredible, and have S-OFF through unrevoked. I know that when the OTA hits, I will lose root access. But with S-OFF I will be able to re-root.My question is, how would I go about doing that? Is my phone safe to let the update go through? Also, I've read around, but there's no all-inclusive guide that I can see that has how to get root back once I get the OTA 2.2.I'm kind of wary about using a leaked ROM instead, but that might be the easiest way to do this and keep root unless there's a guide out there.
