Jun 8, 2010Can anyone explain to me how the voice dialer chooses the possible phone numbers it displays as options? All of my contacts have at least two phone numbers (mobile and work), for some contacts the voice dialer only lists one number and for others, it will list all of them.I thought it might have something to do with the designated 'primary' number, but changing that has no effect.When I ask the app to call my wife, it only shows her mobile number even though there are two other numbers in her contact info.Even if I say to call her "at work" the work number won't show up, only the mobile number.

Jul 19, 2012when trying to test my build in the SDK AVD emulator. Before the version 20 update of the eclipse plugin it was working but now it isn't Plus I am having a few issues with the device itself. I am just trying to make a simple application that displays the numbers you push, then clear out after you hit clear. In the old SDK it worked but on my TF101 the numbers wouldn't display.

Motorola Droid :: Store Frequently Used Phrases?
Feb 10, 2010Though I've migrated happily from a verizon Palm 700WX (WM) to a Droid, there is a composition feature I miss called 'my text', which gave you ten registers where you could store frequently used phrases 'On my way', '@giantstupidURL.com', '[large foreign phone #]', etc. When composing a message any of these phrases could be inserted with just a few keystrokes.
I have not been able to discover anything similar on the Droid. Did I miss it, or are there apps for email / text that have this and other enhancements?
Motorola : Droid 2 Frequently Crashes When Playing Music
Sep 27, 2010I'm the proud owner of a month old Droid 2, but the damn thing keeps freezing or locks up completely when I play my music on it - sometimes it even restarts on its own. It doesn't matter if I'm playing my own MP3's or Pandora. While at work this happens maybe 3 to 5 times a day (docked to a desk/home charger from Verizon) and it's really frustrating. I noticed this started happening once my phone updated to 2.2.20 a few weeks ago. Just this past weekend I took it to my local Verizon dealer. They said they updated the PRL and this often corrects the problem. I got the phone home and it locked up immediately. I've restarted repeatedly, removed the SD card and battery but still no change. Any suggestions? This will be my fourth replacement if I need to take it back and have it replaced.

It synced all my goggle contacts to my phone, and but then deleted them all from g mail. luckily I had all my contacts backed up on my computer and entered them in. Once I did that all my contacts from my phone got deleted. Every contact (other than face book and g mail contacts) that I had in my phone is now gone. What do I do?!

Jan 23, 2010I have several contacts in my phone where I have multiple phone numbers but the location does not always match up with Google choices (MOBILE, WORK, HOME etc) Or in the case of a store like Costco, a different number for each department - Main, Pizza, Pharmacy etc. On my Palm I just used to put initials next to the number to remind me which was which, but that does not work on the Droid - it would not call the number with extra letters. Other than putting the information in my notes, has anyone found a work around? Ideally, I would like to change the words, WORK, HOME, MOBILE, etc to better reflect the ownership and location of that particular number. But that seems highly unlikely since it's connected to Google Contacts. Just wondering how others handle multiple numbers besides a totally different entry, or by adding the info in notes.

Nov 29, 2009So, as of today I have a Motorola Droid coming up for my old Nokia phone. I had BestBuy set me up with the Droid, but when they tried to copy over my contacts to the Droid, they said it failed 3 times and just wouldn't go. They said they COULD get the contacts off of my old phone, but it didn't seem to go over to the new phone for some reason.
Well, I called a number that I knew was in the contacts of my old phone just to test the phone to make sure the phone itself was working when I got home, and when I hung up the call I noticed that it actually showed the name of the person (not their actual name, but the nick-name that I gave them in my old phone) and also showed me the alternate phone number to contacts them with (their cell number). Sooo... it looks like SOMETHING was transfered to my phone, but when I go into "contacts" there is nothing listed. Even when I view the call log, it doesn't show their name anymore, only when I first hung up the call did it show me their name.
Is there a secondary contact list somewhere that they could possibly have been copied over to, and not the main contacts section? I'd really love to get all these phone numbers in there with out having to do it manually.
Motorola Droid :: Battery Charging Semi Frequently And Shutting It Off At Night?
Nov 30, 2009I was wondering what kind of knowledge you guys have about the LI-ION batteries in this badboy. I see a lot of conflicting things online, and from what I gather...you shouldn't be charging overnight, and you shouldn't frequently do full cycle discharge. So, what is the best practice? Charging semi frequently and shutting it off at night? I dislike this because I use the phone as an alarm, and don't want to wake up with the battery starting at 90 for the day.
Also, if you're not supposed to charge overnight (which i've done with many other phones and they were fine), then if I do get the media dock...it would charge overnight every night as my alarm clock.... isn't that bad for the battery? I'm just concerned about ruining my battery, what have you guys heard, and what effects have you seen?
Motorola Droid X :: How To Use Extended Phone Numbers In Address Book
Sep 28, 2010I just got a new Droid X and can't seem to figure out how to use extended phone numbers in my address book. By extended numbers I mean ones where I have inserted a "w" between the number and say a password that allows me to continue into my voice mail once it has been answered (ex. 123-456-7890 w 1234). When I try to use one of these numbers, I get a message from Verizon saying the number cant be dialed. Apparently the Droid is not pausing where it should.

Sep 12, 2010I am still in the process of learning and customizing this phone so there may be a famous app that takes care of this but I did a search and found nothing. I am not a big fan of how the contact list shows friends from facebook/gmail/Phone. I only want it to show contacts that I have personally added on my phone. Is there a way I can arrange this. I have it to where it remembers phone contacts only when I hit contacts but as soon as restart, it goes right back to all contacts. It also comes up when I try to text someone or in the contact section of the dialer. I just dont like this. I don't mind that they are there, persay, but I don't want it to be default all the time. Is there a way to change this?

Jun 3, 2010This started today. When I call my wife, or receive one from her for that matter. The name displayed is her google chat name, not her name. Under her contact there are 3 numbers listed. Work, Home and Cell. If I call her work, it displays her actual name, but the other two display her google chat name. Don't know what happened.

Jul 23, 2010Is there an app I can install that will tell me what/when is accessing the 3G/WIFI etc. I'm thinking something is running in the background that I don't want or need. Yes, WIFI/GPS/BT is off. Sync is set to "on demand".
My battery life is not so hot. I even have a new battery that Verizon swapped for me.
This morning I unplugged from a 6 hour charging session. Meter showed 100%. I checked my email and looked at some system settings on the phone. Thats about it.
Now my battery reads 87% This after one hour of unplugging?

Aug 20, 2010New Droid 2 owner here. This forum has taught me so much about my new phone. My problem: When I look up "Me" in Contacts (not in Edit mode) it does not display my phone numbers. It displays all my other contact information except the phone numbers When I go into Edit mode they are there (Home, Work, & Mobile). They are also listed in my G mail contacts. Is there any way for the "Me" contact to display my own phone numbers?

Apr 22, 2010I have tried 4-5 differant phone numbers and the new 2.1 update on my Telus Milestone on the Bell network will not dial 1-888 numbers, it has a buzz and hangs up pretty quick, won't work from a contact wont work manually entered! No problem with 1-800 and I am not trying any 1-900 we will leave those alone. Wifes work uses a 1-888 for out of area toll free and I have to use on landline, but with cell the regular number is not long distance, so I can still get her through cell. Did a google search can not find any mention perhaps someone else can try a 1-888 number just google for a number lots of weather related ones.

Jul 19, 2010So the ringtone option on my Droid X does not work anymore, or I somehow put it on permanently vibrate. The ringtones were working fine when i received calls but now it only vibrates. I've gone into settings > Sound & Display > Ringer volume and turned it all the way up but it still only vibrates when receiving a call. My Text message sound works fine it's set as the facebook pop. Can anyone help me with this? I'm not sure if i just missed something or if there is another phone setting that i'm not seeing but my ringtone does not work! This phone is the most amazing phone i've ever owned and now can't wait to get the froyo update...any idea when i can install that on my phone?

Jul 25, 2010I've been having this problem ever since I got my Motorola Droid basically (November 2009). Sometimes my droid will dial the last number that was called by itself while it is locked.
Whenever I am done making a call or using my phone I hit the screen dim button at the top. Also I have the pattern lock code turned on. I also have a blue tooth headset that is always attached to my phone, its this Plantronics Discovery 925:

Basically my droid will just call the last number that I have called on it's own. This happens when I have it in my pocket, and when I have it just sitting on a table with nothing touching the phone or my headset. Sometimes like when my friend is right next to me, he will say hey your calling me, and ill take my phone out of my pocket, hit the screen dim button, and I will see that it is still locked with the pattern lock, but that a call is underway (phone call icon is present in the top left)
I was wondering it somehow my bluetooth making these calls, but as far as I know there is no way to actually make a call directly from the bluetooth, and at any rate the phone is locked.
I recently read another post saying that this may be caused by the phone automatically going to the call log after ending a call, so I downloaded this App that was recommended called "Not Call Log" and I have set it to make the phone go to the home screen instead of the call log when calls end.
However just yesterday I have just seen it call by itself twice even after I installed this new app, so it seems the app is not solve the problem. I have seen many threads on this topic but none with any solutions except to use the Not Call Log app, which at least right now doesn't seem to be fixing the issue.
