Works like windows explorer but lets you see all folders of a rooted droid. I just found it off a link on cm forums. Pretty cool and nice to be able to see all the folders on the pc instead of on droid. Droid Explorer

I have been rooted since shortly after 2.2 dropped and it broke the SiriusXM app. I love having the ability to do so much with the phone . My question is kind of specific to an application and general to the nature of a rooted device. I have been playing World of Warcraft for 5 years now and with the always present threat of being hacked and all of my in-game items, characters and account being stolen I added the mobile authenticator app as soon as it was available for Android devices. For those who don't know what this is, it is an app which you add to your in game account and will generate a key which you put in upon login that adds an extra layer of security to your account.

View 47 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if and when 2.1 is released by Google will we be able to get full featured versions of 2.1 on our rooted phones a lot sooner than the OTA update. Secondly, does anyone know what kind of install it might be. Will it just be another ROM to replace the humancyborg ROM that most of us are running. Hopefully when 2.1 is released it shows up quickly on here.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted droid running bbv1.0 and Ive had this for a couple of months now. I recently lost my wall charger so I have just been charging it with the data cable and the computer. Today I was gone most of the day and my battery was at 15% when I got home. I plugged it into the computer for about an hour and when I came back it still had the same amount of battery life when I unplugged it to check. I have setcpu and it was doing the failsafe warning (over 120 degrees) a little more than usual today. It got up to about 145 degrees for a minute at one point when I was using the wireless tether with my laptop. It had the failsafe warning when I checked it while charging just a little bit ago. I don't know if the battery is failing or if its a problem with the phone?

Twice I have noticed my phone heating up (120 F was the most before I pulled the battery) for no apparent reason. I open up auto-killer, kill extra processes, and no difference. No application can be causing this, yet my phone will heat up for no reason. It is not all the time, but I fear it could become a regular thing.

I could easily create an application to test that, but what i really want to know if the official Android approach to this issue. I don't want to assume something that will be changed in the future.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my 2.1 ESE81 Droid using SP Recovery method but decided to stop at installing busybox. Well, I found out that DroidExplorer requires it so I went ahead and started the process of installing it, but for the life of me, I cannot get adb to recognize my droid again. It worked fine when I initially used it to obtain root, but now that it's rooted, whenever I try any adb commands I get "error: device not found". I have the Motorola 4.2 Consumer Drivers installed, I have the Droid set to enable USB debugging, just as I did when I got the phone rooted. In fact, it was just after I rebooted the phone after installing su and Superuser.apk that the error started happening. I can run su and get the # prompt from the terminal emulator on the phone and everything, I just can't get adb to connect to the dang phone. I've been reading on other forums that some people found that the device ID's in the android_winusb.inf file under the AndroidSDK/tools folder are not the same after the phone is rooted, but I don't know about that. This is really baffling. I'm thinking of copying the busybox binary to the SD Card and just copying it using the terminal emulator on the phone and just running the rest of the commands there instead of trying to do it through adb. But, I'll want adb working no matter what.

Today, I had some spare time so I tried to download an attachment. It downloaded fine but when I went to view it, I received a pop-up box to save it to the sd card. After pressing ok, I was told the save was successful but now I can't find it. Aside from pics and videos, how do I access other folders with saved data?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my inbox for my IMAP connection to the office email decided to empty itself on my Desire (2.1).An email arrived and I opened the inbox (not the email) and my inbox was empty.I have just popped in to the office (day off - typical!) and all my email is still there so it's not a total loss, just a little confusing since everything was working sweetly.The email server is based on an OS X 10.6.4 server in the office (not that this should have anything to do with it really).I've been through checking the settings and they're all OK. Only thing I haven't tried is removing the account and putting it back on. Might give that a try later on.

But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:
1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.
2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.
3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.
To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.
Is it possible to access windows folders programmatically? I have a socket listener which is accepting lines from a client and I want to pass images to the android device but am not too keen on passing byte arrays as this may affect performance.

Years back when I had Sony K800, i switched on BT on phone and laptop, and I could see the K800 on the "My Computer" page.
then i could enter and explore and transfer files directly through the windows explorer.Currently I have HTC Desire S, running Android 2.3.5 and Laptop CQ-45 (Compaq) running Vista.But I am not able to explore the phone easily.
To transfer file I have to select each file, then start the BT file transfer wizard on laptop, which could either send or receive ONE file at a time.if I try to send more than one file (pictures, few MBs), then only one gets sent and I have to restart the BT file wizard again to receive another file on the laptop.
I use this just if I need to transfer a few snaps i might have taken with the phone, for larger files (videos) i use the USB cable.I installed the BT File Transfer app from the Market, but that also does not work.
My wifi is not always on, so i cannot use Airdroid or some such way.Options are BT or USB.
Is this possible? Folder called Media, then within that have folders for MP3s, Videos, Streaming, etc?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid X running Froyo. It's rooted. I really want to organize all my apps into folders but lately different folders have been refusing to open. I click on them and they just don't open. Sometimes it's all of them and sometimes it's just one. If I restart it usually fixes the problem but sometimes I just have to wait for a bit. This is very annoying. I'm not using an alternative launcher or anything. Just the regular Motorola Droid X OS. Just rooted. Any ideas guys? Please let me know. I really want to get things organized again.

I like to retain extra backups of everything, so I'd like to back up my apps, bookmarks, etc to the PC where they are backed up to another drive.
I compared the owner, group and permissions of the PC-created folders vs the Droid X backup folders and they're the same. And I have the option to show hidden files selected on the PC. Do I have to remove/read from the card itself to access these folders?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue revolves around trying to use apps like the default files app preinstalled on the Droid X, Astro File Manger, or Estrong File Explorer. For some reason when I move files from folder to folder or copy and paste files into different folders the actual files appear to be there but when I go into the actual applications where the files should be they aren't there.
Example: I had put a few self made ringtones and notifications onto my SD Card via the USB cable that came with the droid from my computer to my Droid X. I made a seperate Media folder on the Card and put sub folders in that like I was supposed to. All the correct files appeared where they should once I disconnected and looked on my phone. New ringtones were in the ringtone directory through accessing them through settings, notifications where there, etc. Now when I try moving one of my ringtones into my notifications folder via, Astro file manager or Estrong File Explorer or the files app that came with the Droid X is moves the files into the folder and you can see it moved by actually viewing it in the folder you just moved it to. But when I go into my settings, notifications tones and look for the file I just moved there...it's not there for me to select, but it is when I look at my file manager. I've tried this in the music folder, ringtone folder and notifications folder and they don't appear in the actual applications where I moved them to, but they appear in the file manager as being there. Am I doing something wrong. I don't understand why this is happening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a particular folder titled "vacation", where I have all my photos from each individual place I've been. I've also downloaded the application "File Cover" [but we'll get back to that later] So the "Vacation" folder has individual sub folders: NY, Miami, Beijing, Canada...etc. When I pull them up in gallery, all the photos show up together. I dont, however want my Beijing folder to show up because it has photos from inportant artifacts and whatnot I dont want everyone to see. I downloaded "File Cover" to hide and password protect them. But they still show up in the gallery in small thumbnails, even though they are locked.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was looking through the files via ASTRO and also Files last night. I noticed several cases where folders, which I removed the app, were still in the directory. Also, the Zedge folder was full of images from browsing I presume.
I've cleared the cache via the browser and a lot of stuff was not removed. I thought I deleted an app and traces still remain.
How can I best clean things up?

Are all the default camera folders necessary? I mean I have Camera pictures, camera media, all pictures, all videos, my images, my videos, plus a few folders that I created myself. I take a pic, and it goes into more than one folder. Is it ok to remove any of those folders? On SD card, there is also a .thumbnails, 100andro, and a camera folder.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a folder called Media that has my video apps, music apps, etc in there. I am wondering if it has something to do with the Qik app I have but sometimes if I am using Qik then go back to my main screen and then a little while later try to open my Media folder again, it will not open. My other folders will open. I usually have to do a hard reset of the phone (power off/on) then I have access to folder again. I am not 100% sure that the Qik app is causing my folder to freeze up or not. Just curious if anyone else has noticed folders freezing up and not opening when you tap them.
