Motorola Droid X :: Car Dock And Google Maps Navigation Error
Jul 22, 2010Just got off the phone with two VZW reps who couldn't give me an answer and suggested that I use VZ Navigator since Verizon can support that software, LOL. My Problem: Used Google Maps Navigator for the first time today. Was using my Motorola Car Dock I purchased and got the address put in and everything then tapped "Navigate". Si there I am and have my nice map view of the route I'm taking and every 30 or so seconds it would flip to a grey screen with multiple tiered options, first of which was "my location" and the address. Below that was the option to tap "Navigate" again which took me back to the map view as it should be. Problem is that it just kept popping back into the grey tier screen every 30 or so seconds. I took it off the dock and this doesn't seem to be happening while not on the dock although I get another message telling me to detach the charger from the wall to conserve battery...WTF? After speaking in depth with VZW reps they seem clueless. First rep told me to try and uninstall Google maps and reinstall (which come to find out I can't do after speaking to the second rep) while the second rep seemed to want to glorify his Droid Incredible and how great it was over the Droid X. he offered to reset my phone but advised I would have to sync all my contacts again, redo all my widgets and reconfigure all my e-mail addresses. Anybody else experiencing this problem with the car Dock and Google Navigation?

Jan 31, 2010Anyone found out how you can dim the 4 buttons when your droid is in media dock? I know that they are controlled by the light sensor, and light up when in darkness. Anyway to stop the light sensor? I have tried the brightness, it is set at none, still the little 4 buttons light up as soon as it gets dark. Dim the screen and still can read by the buttons. Why have a dimmer that only dims the screen?

Everytime I go select it, it lets me check smart alarm, and pick the duration I want (5 mins) and then the sound I want (breeze) but it still plays the regular alarm melody everytime- even though I can physically see that smart alarm is checked. Is this a bug?

Jul 16, 2010I am running BB 0.4 and have been for some time.I use the multimedia dock that launches the clock.apk. The proplem I have is when I hit the dim button for when I go to sleep after a while the screen times out. It lasts for quite some time so it makes me think that once the phone hits 100% it defaults to my 1 minute screen time out because the phone stays on for at least an hour (I know this because ill plug it in and watch some tv then go to bed)Back when I was on nexbeast or before froyo I used to hit the dim then eventually it would default to a clock that would kind of bounce around the screen.I dont want to go back to nexbeast but surprisingly enough this is making me angry. I want to be able to use the clock for my room and the alarm clock but I also want to be able to dim the screen so I can sleep.

Feb 3, 2010Here's another one in my quest for customization using the multimedia dock. Unfortunately, I have sub-par VZ service in many parts of my house. I'm considering the Wireless Extender ($249 - ouch), but until I make that call, I've been manually forwarding my cell phone to my home phone line.
Question: would there be a way to set up a script or functionality that would tell the Droid to forward to home when in dock and un-forward when taken out of the dock. Might be kinda cool. I think one of the mobile companies used to sell a dock that did just this in the early 2000s.
Motorola Droid : Home Screen After Removing Phone From Dock
Aug 17, 2010Running 2.2 from OTA when I take the phone out of a dock (Multimedia or car), the home screen has to rebuild it self. Meaning all the icons are slow to come back. think of it as on a windows machine Explorer dies and you have to do a start/run/explorer to get it back. Only difference i that this is automatic, just slow to get responsive again. Even swipping through the screen is slow at first. Is froyo, google's VISTA?

Aug 27, 2010My girlfriend just received her Droid 2 the other day and I have been helping her set it up. There was an available update so I had it installed. Now every time we try to use a browser, any browser, it opens for a second and then it closes to the Home screen right away. No force close, no error message, just poof and it's gone. I didn't install many apps to it like my Captivate because I figured less is more for her. She added her facebook and MySpace accounts but that's about it really.
I looked all over the past few hours and found similar issues but none quite the same. I cleared the cache, cleared the data, nothing. 3G or WiFi made no difference. I tried with the stock browser, Skyfire, Dolphin, and xScope and same results across the board. I turned all location settings off and back on and back off again to no avail. I just did a factory reset 15 minutes ago and nothing has changed. I am going to do it again without allowing the Backup Assistant to do anything. I'll make a fresh google account to see if there's a difference there but I don't think it will work. It's not rooted or anything, it's pretty much fresh out of the box from only 3 days ago.

Motorola Milestone : Best Navigation / Gps For Phone?
Dec 2, 2010I'm using NavDroyd app witch is turn by turn navigation. NavDroyd uses OpenStreetMap (it's the same detail like google maps) and it have voice guide. The big diference with google maps is that NavDroyd doesn't require a network connection witch is pretty cool. It have maps from all over the world and you can download to your memory card via pc(so you can do that very fast). It have pinch to zoom and use your GPS to locate you so everything work like a charm. I don't find on the market so you can easy find on the net. I'm using firmware 2.1- update 1 not rooted phone

Aug 3, 2010My phone dropped from my pocket into the toilet. It was in there for no longer than 5 seconds. I took out the battery and tried to dry everything off. In a panic I turned it back on to see if it would work. I wasn't thinking at all. It started to turn on, then the screen flickered and everything went black. I dried it out properly and it still won't turn on. I've plugged it into the charger, nothing. Is my phone now useless? My mom says will not buy me another phone until the contract is up, in over a year. Is there anything I can do? Or did I completely screw myself?
If my phone is gone, can I still save my contacts and/or pictures?

Nov 15, 2009I bought the car dock and I do not like it. I wish you could just set the phone in the car dock and have it charge without plugging in the charging cable separately. Would it be possible to use the multimedia dock as a car dock? It seems like the only difference is the polarity of the magnet. Can that easily be reversed (cut out and turned around)? I already have an adapter to plug the USB cable into. 3M makes a great double-sided automobile tape that would hold the dock to the dashboard. Anyone with a multimedia dock willing to try it out and report back?

Feb 23, 2010There are two parts, the circular disc that sticks to the glass and then the actual holder which suctions against the disc. Do y'all leave the holder attached at all times? Even when you get out of the car? Or do you take it on and off as you use it? I'm just wondering how secure that disc is to the glass.
